I wish to create new character. I find myself in game along alot. I would my fighting skills be based on the pistoleer. Hang with a pet, and sell hides for a living.

From start to finish, how would I set up this character?

- My first suggestion is change the font size on your signature.

- I can't read the last line properly because the first line is taking up so much room.

It sounds like you want to be a pistoleer / creature handler. What about the Ranger is appealing to you?

Mix Creature Handling with Pistoleer and add in a smatering of Ranger and I think you have your answer.

Get at least 2-2-1-3 with ch and your da-man.

Pistoleer go....0-1-4-1

Ranger...not sure what you like about ranger so look at the skill tree's and fill ya boots.

I would like to compliment the following: Pistoleer, CH (i guess), Ranger (wish to be able to harvest and track) and Medic to heal myself.

How do I create myself to hold my own, provide an good income, and take of myself when my pals are not around?

You are looking atthree novice professions: Scout, Medic,Marksman -- that is 45 skill points, up front.

The scout tree will open up creature handling and ranger skills, but the ranger requires significant more skill points as you have to master scout.

You've really mentioned one skill that only ranger can give you -- tracking. That is one tree, and each skill level will open your options on what to track.

It is really going to depend greatly on just what you want from each class. I would suggest using a character builder and playing around with it for a while (Allakhazam offers one, for example).

Characters can be so customized in this game, it is really difficult to tell you an "exact" template -- it really depends on what you want from each class and how far your 250 skill points can stretch.

My problem with those character builders is that do not tell me what I can control, accomplish or do with the skill.

Here is my goal.

I wish to be able to solo. I wish to be able to use a pistol very well, use decent creatures for back up, track and harvest to the best of my abilitym and heal myself when i get beat up.

- If you want to have parts of all those professions, don't expect to be able to do any of them with great proficiency.

- I have:

  • TK 0.4.4.4 as my combat profession

  • Master Ranger as my support profession

  • Engineer for the ability to create personal harvesters

- The Healing I leave to my partner in crime. He isa Master Doctor and Master Musician, and we group together on a constant basis (I know him in RL so it makes it simpler).

- The Novice professions require a great deal of skill points to use (15 points each), so be wary about relying on too many of them.

This is what I am talking about, I am a crafter, i have no idea what to do. Ok, so depend on my felow player to heal me.

So that leaves me with Pistoleer, Ranger, and CH. What branch or skill in Ranger tree is useless waste of time? Maybe I dont need to be master, but I can save points by not dumping my skill points into such a branch.

WHat level of CH can use to use decent pets that will aid me in my solo hunts? I was thinking GLP or something just as compitent.

"WHat level of CH can use to use decent pets that will aid me in my solo hunts? I was thinking GLP or something just as compitent."

Define Decent pet, I know of non Ch pets that offer ar1 2k ham and make nice little back ups for when your in a jam. That free's up a lot of headaches with skill points.

Now if you plan on being like every other creature handler (me included) you will want at least 2-2-0-0 to handle a greater sludge panther or grand wrix (or is it 1-2-0-0 ) I can't remember off hand.

As for healing , other than battle fatigue time and good camp can fix you right up.

"What branch or skill in Ranger tree is useless waste of time? "

There is no skill or branch that is a waste of time in the Ranger Profession.

Trapping Line is usefull If used right, Tracking is usefull, Harvest bonuses are good, wayfaring is good, I happen to like the faster crawl speed. Frontiering line is good as well.
