Thread: Master Ranger + 2nd Elite mastery = no points for FSCS
I am Master Ranger / Master Rifleman. My plan is to drop the master box, the top 2 boxes of trapping and the 4 camping boxes of ranger. I already have scout xp maxxed (1.2 mil) and trapping maxxed (500k) so getting Master Ranger back once I get my 2nd char unlocked shouldn't take too long. I don't know what CL this will drop me to but I'll deal with that when I get there.

There in lies my problem as i believe once you get your Force sensitve character slot opened u cannot then drop your Force sensitve skills to regain the second mastery. Am i wrong in my interpretations (please let me be wrong).

You are correct, you cannot drop your FS skills.

Really, even though there is a surrender skill button in the skills window? If this is true I'll forget about training. Right now I've only used my 4 extra skill points.
to keep your 2nd slot, 6 FS branhces must be filled at all times

They really need to change Ranger to use the other 2 lines of Scout (x4x4) instead of requiring Master Scout I think. The fact that they haven't is probably just an oversight since all the rest of classes were changed to follow that pattern with the CU, I don't see why Ranger would remain the exception. That would give you the flexibility you need to learn the FS skills and retain CL80.

The rumor is you will loose your second character slot if you do. I have never seen a red name confirm this.

You're not wrong.
Unles you want to go M.Ranger|M.Creature Handler no template will give you the 24 SP needed to keep your second slot.
You can train a 7th branch later on in order to shift your FS skills around ( that's what the surrender button is for ) but once you unlock you are required to have a minimum of 6 full branches trained at any given time.
Me, I'm going to unlock and turn my current Ranger into a fun alt template were I can use the 24 SP to augment the template and then go Master Ranger | Master [Elite Profession] on my second slot.

Yeah thats the same plan i am leaning towards although i am quite fond of my current character*sign* ah well when rangers get a revamp it will be al good i guess lol......
I am sure this will be cause for complaint from those of you who are longtime Rangers, but I think they really ought to a) Change ranger to require only 2 lines in Scout (undoubtedly 0404) as a prerequisite to make it match the rest of the CU design, and b) Either give it some well needed pluses to ranged and melee defense (Rangers as a archetype are "tough" right? Well, where is that tough part?) or reduce the SP costs to match those of Image Designer to reflect the lower utility of the profession. I would of course prefer they fix the profession rather than cheapen it, but SOE has a poor track record on Ranger fixes it seems. Flame away
