Thread: Any Ranger/Bounty Hunters out there?

Hi,

I'm currently 3 2 4 4 in Ranger and have just qualified for novice Bounty Hunter. I think Ranger/BH would be the perfect combination for me, so I'm just wanting to hear from people who have tried this combination.

If I master Ranger and still keep novice medic, that leaves me with going probably only 0 0 3 0 in BH. Is this enough to be effective in PvP, which I haven't tried much yet, but am looking to get into more and more lately?

Are there any pure Ranger/BHs out there that dont have any medic skills? If so, how hard have you found it and have those extra 15 points made up for the fact that you can't heal yourself?

An a related note, is the +10 to ranged and melee defense gained at master Ranger noticeable?

All comments welcome.

I am thinking of going this route also, I think it will make my PvP life easier being able to dish out punishment with the LLC. I am not sure on the medic part since I do like being self sufficient in the field and fixing myself up.

I am currently 4/4/0/0 Ranger 0/4/0/2 BH and 3/4/0/0 CH

I have no medic skills and i get along just fine. Having the High damage associated with Bh and the terrain negotiation and Camping from Ranger is a real treat. If you are going to engage in pvp with no medic skills just make sure u have a medic/doc friend that could tag along with u. Not saying that u would need one all the time but its really nice to have someone around to heal u.

I'm not a bounty hunter but i am working my way to master ranger/master pistoleer/ranged support specialist and i'll only have 4 points left at the end, not enough for anything else. So i feel your pain, ranger is a costly class, it takes 140 points to master it. I am still considering surrendering ranged support and add some ehaling maybe, don't think i can get more than maybe one box into first aid though.

I am currently working on this path. I will only be involved with PvE though. Since I plan to master BH I only have 32 points left over. Current plan right now is novice rifleman (still unsure if I will keep this once I can get higher into the BH tree. Rest of my points will be spent on the ranger tree. Right now I am only looking at conceal and tracking skills.

master ranger bh 0/3/2/1 here and its a great combo, at least for me. bh helps in the hunt and is always there for some extra credits whenever the ranger runs into hard times. Medic skills? bah. as far as pvp goes, seeingas most players dont wear helmets and have 600 mind, eyeshot is very effective.

I'm going this route, started off as a Ranger/BH then dropped BH to start up CH. Now I miss my LLC too much and am dropping CH and going BH again (40k combat xp all over again *sigh*). I'm a Master Ranger first and foremost and the rest I'll stick into BH now, will go all the way up the LLC tree then get a few boxes of BH Carbine with whatever is left over.

This combination makes a good special forces type Ranger, very goodat scouting and reconnaissance. I can use /conceal and walk right up in front of Maulers or other humanoid NPCs. This allows me to examine and take recon photos of potential targets and bases which helps a lot in the assault plan, then with my Master Marksman and a few BH skills I am also useful in the actual assault.

I'd say this build is more PVE than PVP, but if you're ok with that then it's good fun.

Shaden,

I love that build and fits in to what I percieve as more of a Antarian Ranger would be, I am NOT going to have any CH, that build is sooo the flavor of the day anymore. I personaly feel that this combo is very deadly and am eagerly working on my final combat exp to get BH.

I'm Ranger/BH/CH. I love this combo. I am the solo hunter of the day, using a GSP to take down lured away single Rancors is my passion. I have the BH pistol tree which makes me a formidal foe in combat as well. If using pets in combat i can sacrifice a GSP (i have 3 Azazel, Memnoch and Ozymandius) to dish out the pain to a Master Commando and put him back to using rTEF's... MUAH! giving up all that mind for action for specials doesn't seem like that great of an idea in hind sight does it?

I'm trying to work out a char map that i like right now, had to start an alt to survey for me freeing up 15 sp, and had to drop medic, which sucks a tad in combat and on hunts, but is really a non-factor with ranger camps. Just requires you to hunt smarter and save that Burst run till ya really need it!

Anyway that's my 2 cents but i'm always lookin for good ideas. Keep em comin!

I was master ranger/pistol, but have dropped to 4/0/4/0 ranger and moved to bounty hunter. I'm really reluctant to give up either of my remaining ranger trees at this point.
