Thread: Why no waypoints for the new explorer missions...BLAA!
Seems like the more I play this game the more I dislike the greedy, fat bastards (devs). Seems like all they care about are finding out ways to make us spend more time looking/resting/training/exp. Like these new explorer missions not having waypoints....just more ways for us to spend our game play running around looking for mobs that could be located with waypoints. No reason for this but another way the devs created for us to have more time sink.
God it seems like all the MMORPG are the same after all. If anything, this game made me dislike anything starwars even more so then before.
is this a bug or intentional?
It would be killer if it was in conjunction with our /Tracking skill...
OH wait... we don't have that skill (yet)...
::sigh::

If we were given a tracking skill, these missions would become a Ranger's bread & butter to making credits, similar to Bounty Hunters and their missions.
It would be pretty dumb to have exploration missions with a waypoint telling you exactly where to go, isn't very explorish. =) Now give the Rangers a reason to train up those skill boxes. Tracking, tracking, tracking! =)

I tested this a bit further and it looks as thought the mission waypoints that can be activated via the planetary map are infact "red herrings". (It's probably a bug that they can be activatedat all)
I gave up on the mission, but did not abort it. I've just found a group of Peko's elsewhere and my explorer mission count was updated. ("You have 39 left to kill")
Therefore it seems to be working.
Just run around and kill animals of the type the mission is about.
I had a mission to kill 45 cu pas and after running around over the whole planet and killing every cu pa in my way i got the reward after killing number 45.
The Waypoints are for nothing. Just have fun running and serching.

This new mission type I think is there for people who went out hunting. For many scouts/rangers, they wouldn't do missions. They would go out and try and hunt a specific type of animal and harvest there hide/bone/meat. The joy/fun, was to go out and kill stuff.
Now, you can do that for money. Have you heard of variety. People like to go hunt stuff every now and then, when they are tired of the destroy mission cycle. Is it the most efficient ratio of time vs. money? probably not, but is it fun? depends on the time and person.
Now for some advice, if you want to do these missions. Go to an explore mission terminal, pick out an animal you would like to hunt. Then go to the mission terminal next to it, and select a destroy mission, with that animal. It will help you reach your quota.
The waypoints aren't used, probably the requirements for a waypoint call for a coordinate so they had to stick them somewhere (mine were at 0,0). Ignore the waypoint, just kill however many creatures it says and once you do you get the message the mission is complete and the reward is put in the bank. I've done it twice already and it worked this way both times. I even went to another planet and the kills on the new planet still counted against the mission. Be aware that if you take two missions that target the same creature type the system appears to substract from whichever waypoint is first in your current list order. I got two of the same creature type, killed a few, sorted my waypoints, killed a few more and it started counting the kills against the other wayspoint.
The bad thing is that even though I can get 10K missions at level 13, if I unequip my weapon I can get level 5 missions for 4K-5K that target things like butterflys, chubas and other newbie trash. If you notice, a lot more people are hanging around the cities killing newbie trash to complete the low level missions for easy cash. This doesn't really encourage exploring at all, especially since now the destroy lair missions don't pay much anymore.
I have tried the different techniques and making money I think will be a big chore now. They need to readjust the missions payout or the amount of critters you kill. Already people were killing other people's critters and the situation will probably get worse.
If it works like some of you above have suggested in that as you kill ceatures you get a display of how many left you have to kill hten I am all for it,Persoanlly I like to just wander planets so if I get a little extra for killing the creatures I find in my travels all the better.
I happened to be on Correllia today and so I grabbed a crazed durni missions since I wa short on time and wanted something quick to just see how it worked. It said I needed t ocollect 30 pelts from them.I too ka durni mission wnet out and killed them all and looted the pelts,I htink I had 90 pelts in total but nothing happened.
the killing one seems clear find that type and kill it,the Hide harvesting one doesn't seem to work,or maybe it jsut wants 30 of them dead, however I never got a message after I killed each one of them so who knows. =/
