Got another good one .

Will there be any Ranger traps that are thrown? There are a lot of assumptions that traps will still be thrown. I was given the impression, by the revamp doc, that all Ranger traps would be placed traps, and that, technically, Ranger traps will not be useable as combat progresses (but that the strategy would be placing them in the 'right' locations BEFORE combat and drawing the targets to them). Any enlightenment would appreciated .

You are correct. All of the new Ranger traps are placed with various kinds of triggers to determine how they are set off. (from Keldarin)

Yeah, but there will always be someone stupid enough to do it anyway .

I think the obvious strategy is to figure out where the attackers will be most likely to arrive from and leave through and booby trap it!

my strategy is going to make a large ring of traps around me, and when enemies start moving towards me, go invisible. They'll fan out in all directions looking for me...and get hit by my bombs, while I remain perfectly still exactly where I was, then finish them off.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Lol, nice. And since you are a bothan, all of the attackers will be in such a frenzy to find you and kill you that they will blow up real good.

my other plan is to pick up a bit of smuggler, and set a group of 4 or 5 mines right on top of each other, then use concussion shot when they run over the spot, do a /wave emote, and push the button. buh-bye.

Right now, I am thinking of Master Ranger, Master Carbines, Riflemen 4400 or Riflemen 4000 Novice Medic.

First template stick to the a ranger not hit is a happy ranger. I can mix and match carbine specials with rifle specials and hunt as before, relying on a harvest droid to pick up resources.

The 2nd version drops the concelshot from my template allowing for minor healing above the Ruby Biel\Stim-D route.

I then relay on carbine states to control NPCs and Critters when I hunt. I still have Improved Snipershot and Improved Headshot to do massive damage.

I rely on Ranger stealth and concealment then not the Riflemen cover to hunt. to be honest I didn't use cover much before anyhow. Maybe two or three shots and the mob was always on me.

probably going to go with MBH/Master Ranger w/ carb skills making up the rest of my skillpoints for one of my toons. Though I may also go with SL skills instead and be a good base-buster, lol.

I thought about the BH mods but as is picking up rifle 4400 your ranged defense is higher than a bounty hunters.

Don't forget to take a snapshot with your victim before you press the big red button. Concussion shot lasts a really long time

If you hunt in a group, this will be so much better since it doesn't have to be you who does the "pulling" and therefor they can't be sure if there is a ranger there untill it's too late

This is gonna remind me of star craft, when I would set Lurkers under ground in a V formation or a maze.

If they are only ground-placeable, then there better not be a low limit on the amount we can place at a time or a huge cooldown timer to placing one. This means that we will go from using traps inside combat to using them before combat, and the only abilities so far that we use in combat are whatever modifiers we get. We don't have specials now, so I am thinking they are really pushing for combat preparation as our focus.

I'd be surprised if there is not a fairly low limit or they'll be expensive/time consuming to make.

You run across a group of CL80 or higher Black Suns on Yavin (for example). Get just out of aggro range and lay down 20 or so of your best mines and kite them over them. Collect loot.

Or some similar scenario...
