Same here. No use in talking about it. All of its been said on the CU forums you cant see.
Short version - this will be good for the majority of you. You will see things sooner then later and we might get the CURB sooner then later. But for us Alpha testers and I only arrived less then two months ago...
Well remember the moment when your angriest when you should shut your mouth and think things over. Lets get to beta and test center testing and get this thing on Live so we can all move on with our lives.

Though it is stupid I think that kind of info is still considered NDA and people can get into trouble by saying stuff like to others or posting about it. Don't want anyone here to get in trouble.

Luckily, I'm not under a NDA so I can speak my mind freely.
I've been afraid something like this would happen.
Result: beta test in less then 1 month, assuming expansion/cu are to be scheduled to go live around the same time the movie hits the theaters...
I think I said it before, in CU thread to, and in several other places... the planning of testing and rollout ofany code like this is a recipe for disaster. It happened a lot before, with only minor (well as I see them compared to this one) changes and took 2 or more patches to fix things.
Maybe I'm too negative about it (emphasize: I'm not negative about the CU, nor positive, but in the way this is going to rolled out and all its impact it will cause) but that's just the history I've come to know in my short existence in the SWG universe (couple of months away 1 year)...

SOE head office : So Mr. Tyrant, how is SWG and the Combat Upgrade going ?
Tyrant : Fine thanks - we're in dialogue with a great group of players from the community, real active people in the game, and we have a lot of great ideas coming together. We should be ready to start Alpha testing some time in March.
SOE Head Office : March ? but we promised LucasArts the CU would go live with the expansion in time for the film ..... beginning of May
Tyrant : That's not possible I'm afraid. Alpha in the sandbox is going to take several weeks, and then we have to have a Beta. We must make sure this is a quality revamp - the players deserve it, why else would we be doing this ?
SOE Head Office : I don't think you understand what we are saying here. The CU WILL go live with the Expansion in time for the film. End. Of. Discussion.
Tyrant : Whaaaa ?
SOE Head Office : I don't think he understands. What is this talk of making players happy ? The shareholders and LucasArts are the important people here.

As for testing - don't we hire our developers to do that ? I mean they developed it, so they'll know how it's supposed to work right ? What do the players know ? Cut the Beta time by half and we've made it !!!

Same, its almost exactly how i pictured Tyrant's departure.
Too many higher level managers thinking about short term profits over long term stability and returns.
Sometimes i wonder if SOE are actually TRYING to become to textbook example of how to make poor business decisions. Its beyond me how some of these people (not at all directed at the devs, i believe this issue was completely beyond their control)can keep their jobs when they show a complete lack of understanding for long term gains.
Bah ill leave the business talk to the analysts, im sure they will have afield day.

If they want to kick themselves in the................nether regions ill bring the giant steel shoe, and a oversized HTFB for the devs and my fellow players to view it in.

Now, me, I'm not subject to the NDA, and I wasn't in Alpha anyway, but this is the sort of thick headed, rush to rpodiction nonsense we've been seeing on TC for aaaaaaages. If it wasn't for the good folk over on TC, almost all of whom I love almost as much as most of you, I'd have quit TC around Pub12.
PAGES of bug reps go up, the bugs get to Live because of publishinc deadlines. Hotfixes and patch publishes then need to be chucked into the mix. They've got away with it, mostly, so far, but the closer they trim it the more chance there is of them making a serious foul up.
Now, am not going to rant. I'm going to try and find a positive in this... I guess at least it means we get to play in beta sooner and the publish and upgrade will be with us sooner rather than later.

Im not saying rant or anything im just saying we need to bide our time until the higher managment or whoever thought up axeing the alpha makes total fools of themselfs. entertainment at its greatest i say
Sit down, relax, and take it all in that has been my motto for some time. i started to find out about things alot faster that way.
