Tried fishing this weekend. Something to do while camping. Make camp on edge of water stand in camp and fish.

Wow, fishing is not worth the effort. 10 minutes and 3 units of fish bait with some chum?

I can't get mad because it's so pathetic it's funny. This is probably waaaaay low on the dev list and I can't blame them.

Also get no XP gained for fishing.

I did get a lot of people laughing though when people saw me fishing.

Anyone ever catch anything worth the time they put into it?

Fishing was purposely put into the game as a "mini-game" that would be less achievement-oriented than many other activities, and which the devs knew some people would enjoy while others would not. It's a small touch to flesh out the game a bit beyond the rat race for xp and credits. When it was added in beta we were told that it had taken relatively little programming effort and so did not crowd out development of more popular things. I'm not into fishing in SWG myself, but I will say that I've seen some pretty cool looking fish hanging on the walls of some people's houses.

Fishing is okay. It will be better in the next patch. XP will be one reason why.

My advice...swim around the shore line first and see where the fish are jumping. When you see some, swim straight back to the shore and fish there. I've found that anything within 15m is good. You should catch some.

Fishing is good for breaks or camping for something to do, though I rarely campalone near the shore.

It's pretty suspenseful, when you're out all day killing creatures and chasing down things. Sometimes sitting back and fishing a bit is pretty fun. I've almost got 50 units of fish, so you can imagine it doesn't exactly add up quickly.

Definetly saving the carcasses in my bank for use on a house. Saw someone's house today with fish all in it, looks very cool. Hopefully our XP will come with the next patch.. either way, I've got too much bait.

Fishing is fun. Not everything has to have a function beyond the act itself.

I caught a 1.4 meter blackfish once. That is a big fish.

you know they realy skipped on fishing and gambleingboth are text based games i mean sure they might have been awsome 20 years ago when text games were in but now that they can do all sorts of stuff i don't think it would be to hard to make a slot machince grafics or fishing one i realy think it would improve the game a bit i don't want something great but come on don't make text games

I also got an idea to construct a fishtank in my house using fish I've caught... but first I need something that looks good as a tank. I dunno of anything see-through!

I like fishing! Especially when I want to do something low key, like when I am tired. I can't wait until I can get some xp for it!

Haha. Yes, fishing is boring, if you don't like fishing. However, I do fish ocassionally in RL and it's the same as the game, essentially. You sit there for hours and throw out chum, your line, etc.. Boring but very therapeutic. It's a relaxing way to spend your time, imo.

I guess the fishing in this game is pretty fun. If it's just a mini-game distraction it serves it's purpose. I guess I thought it was supposed to be something bigger but just as a way to hang out and do something I have to admit it's cool. Didn't know I could mount the fish! I definitely will.

Daria, my wife, LOVES to fish. For some reason, she gets a kick out of it.

And it really helped in decorating our house.

I've never been able to fish from camp, it always says "You have left Avocet's camp" just as I get within range of the water to cast. I've only tried it with High Quality and Field Base though. I gather you have to use a scout camp to do it?

I hang all the fish I catch on the walls of my house.
