Thread: Now, with the new XP requirments.
I truly believe it to be worth it
===============================
Worth what???? To get skills that should have been there at release it is worth a nerf?? Sigh. You guys are too easy. Is that all it takes? Do whatever you want to us as long as you finish our class?
Yoda,
There are two schools of thought on the problems the Rangers have or have had.
1.) The devs F-ed up, and we're paying the price.
2.) They're making it better, but everything has a cost.
Don't be in the first group.
There are 33 professions in the game. I think that I can speak for the vast majority of players out there when I say that I'd rather play the game in the form that was in on June 26 and have the opportunity to have a say in the changes that get made than to have to wait another 3 months until every little bug and issue was worked out. The wait, for me, was getting unbearable and some game was much better than no game.
Did Ranger have problems? Yes. Are they being addressed? Yes.
Take heart in that! There are plenty of professions that were hurting as hard (or harder) that didn't get the attention we got, didn't get their requests answered in as timely a manner, and are still waiting to hear from the Devs at all.
The new skills that are being added are formidable - they make us one of the most important and skilled classes in the game. EVERY group will want a Ranger now, just like every group wants a Medic or a Squad Leader. We'll cut down on playing times exponetially by being able to find critters without hours of wandering.
Don't think of the things that we're being given as things we should have already gotten. Think of them as gains that complement an already fun profession. You started playing a Ranger even before the proposed changes came out, so you obviously found something fun in it. What is so wrong with continuing that fun a bit longer?
Those of you who complete the Ranger trees after the nerf can have even more pride in your accomplishment than those of us who did it before - because arguably you worked harder. That counts for something in my book, and it should count for something in yours.
You can play this game with a chip on your shoulder. You can bitch at the Devs. You can cry that its not fun anymore. But in the end, you're still going to play because you love the game. So try and see the silver lining and not the rain - it'll make your experiences in-game even more fun.

All they would need to do is auto complete the trees people have started and zero the experience.
Then the next skill tree will require the new amounts.
This way you get a little bonus but will still require more overall experience than the people before you had to endure.
I am 99% sure that you will not lose any skills. This is because gaining a skill box is essentially an exchange of experience and skill points for the box itself. The game doesn't keep track of how much xp you've spent, just how much you have, and what skill boxes you have. Once you have a box, it's a done deal and when you acquired it or how much xp you acquired it for are things the game doesn't even care about.
Consider the mess the devs would find themselves in a year from now if they used a policy of readjusting everyone's skill boxes every time xp requirements changed. Suppose they make a further change of increasing the xp requirements for Trapping skills even more (something I wouldn't be surprised to see). If skill boxes were removed retroactively to match the new requirements, how many rangers would suddenly find that they'd lost Scout Trapping 4, a prerequisite for master scout and novice ranger? You couldn't also take away their other ranger skills and master scout box, but neither could you remove a prerequisite without removing what's above it.
No, go get as many boxes this week as you can. You'll still have them when the changes go live.
Terras,
I'm positive that it won't drop any of the skills you currently have. If it were to be that way, I would expect the Devs to have either mentioned it to me, or to have made a post here. That would be too big of a change- and one that would significantly anger much of the population. They may nerf some professions, but the overall goal is to make the game better, not piss EVERYONE off.

As I understand it (someone on TC where these changes are live please confirm) it works like this:
If you have the boxes you keep the boxes. The you will grand fathered in/exempt to the new xp changes, which is good news for Wayfarers, Master Trappers, and Master Hunters... bad news for Frontierman.
If you don't have the boxes, then you will now need to get xp for whatever boxes you don't have filled under the new xp system for that skill box.
I hope this is the case, as I am maxed on all Ranger skills except Frontiering 3 and 4. So if it works this way then my 45k of current frontiering xp will auto qualify me for box 4 and push me 5k through box 4.
From my understanding, no one will be losing their titles due to the changing in XP requirements. It will only affect the players who are still working on boxes.
This is unfortunate, but unavoidable.

i can understand it effecting the amount of exp needed for the skill your working on, but if the skill is already learned and highlighted in your skills window, are you sure its gonna be effected?
im hoping no, i dont care if they changed it, i did what it said and i got the skill, i should be able to keep it. it may be harder for those without the skill yet, but hey, its gonna be a TON eaiser for them to get that fronteiring tree, i had to camp my butt off to get where i am in it, and im still no where near finishing it. plus they get the new abilities to work with while they train up, we had nothing but that pitifull rescue, which by the way is a waste of time (on occation it helps).
i guess it wont be too much of a pain getting that exp if they do rob us of our skills, im just really worried that they will take all of our skills away and make up some dumb excuse for it, they really just wanna waste our time so they can get more money... but im just venting... ignore that... never typed a word...
