Thread: Elite-Elite for Ranger?

First off, I know I'm reaching here, so please remember that when I'm crucified...

Since I haven't really heard any talk of the Ranger getting an Elite-Elite profession, I started wondering what, if we were so lucky, that professioncould be? Well the only thing thatI could really think of along the whole "master of nature" thing would be... Rancher? In example breeding creatures we normally would hunt for their resources. Gualamas, gurrecks, chokus, etc. Granted this doesn't exactly ring of excitement. But hypothetically we would be able to keep our master ranger status, so we could still hunt the old fashion way, while hoping the male and female mamiens were busy repopulating back at the old farm. While I'm dreaming, they could even incorporate ranches into the player cities somehow, where they could produce a steady daily supply of resources for the town's crafters (meat/hide/bone + eggs/milk for BE's?) while we are out, well, rangering...

Yeah, I'm weird. But this post is about the question of what our Elite-Elite could possibly be if we actually wereoffered one, not to promote my goofy ideas. So I'm curious to see if anyone else has any random thoughts on the subject?

I would think it would be something to incorporate us into PvP more....something with deadly concequences for whoever crossed our path...like explosive traps or Flame bombs or a special melee slice and dice move....

bump i want to hear some ideas people

That sounds a bit too commando for me. How about Spy? Maybe then conceal could actually conceal us from pc's, and we'd be invaluable in faction battles.

Rangers should be able to swim really fast also, cause they are masters at their surroundings. If I were to choose an elite-elite profession, id say they should be able to be like real rangers. Truely invisible, even to actual players and npcs. But right now, i use myself as a huntin guide. I act as a guide in the wilderness helping them find certain animals they want to hunt such as kimos and graul maulers. They are very greatful and I usually get sum kind of reward. Hehe like a master CHhelpin me tame a mauler, or letting me get all theharvest, or even a great amount of money.

Elite-Elite is easy. Antarian Ranger.

If a Ranger has mastered Ranger, and one of the Combat Weapons/Melee ClassSkills - rifle, pistol or carbine - the title of Antarian Ranger should be awarded.

Will be the only incentive for me to give up my medical skills and max Pistoleer, but for the title, I would do it in half a heartbeat.

And not cutting down the PAs who have formed to call themselves this, it would make the title actually mean something, something earned, not acquired.

Sort of like an Assassin? I was thinking about Assassins while playing today, and whether or not they could be an Elite-Elite profession off of Ranger. I'm sure the Bounty Hunters would be up in arms if it were even remotely like their class, so there would need to be a way to keep Assassin very different from BH (I'm sure it wouldn't be all that hard).

Perhaps being able to use Camo in PvP would be something for the Assassins. I also feel like Assassins shouldn't have super-strong attacks, but should be exteremely difficult to hit (high defenses). But I could be swayed to give Assassins good attacks if I got a sleeve-knife to cut somebody's throat with

I would also picture the Assassin as a combination of melee and ranged, in the same way that BH is a combination of different types of ranged. Perhaps the Assassin would use a sword and a blaster (if there's enough skill points to be able to get brawler swords and marksman pistols). Assassins would rock

Hmm...for the skill points I would rather have some other things put in to the ranger class. Skrew the elite-elite garbage. How about traps that work with the ranger class? How about some improvements to camps that have been discussed? So on and so forth.

Why worry about elite-elite when our current class really isn't all that great? Woohoo, I made master I get the Dathomir camo kit.

I think Rancher is answer. There are NPC Ranchers and I remember reading something somewhere, maybe it was the Prima SWG guide, that linked Rangers with Ranchers.

Assasins? Don't think so. Assasins=Bounty Hunters.

Exploding traps? I agree with the person that said it sounds to Commando like.

Antarian Ranger --> Mega combat class, to be feared in PvP. lol, lets not go there.

Spy? well maybe but I would think smuggler woud be better suited.

Yea..Antarian Ranger. Possibly trees as such:

Jedi Tracking:

I) Ability to sence a jedi is near.

II) Direction to force NPCs.

III) Distance to force NPCs.

IV) Detect player Jedi, Direction and Distance.

Stealth: (Uber maskscent)

I) Stealth from creatures

II) Stealth from NPCs

III) Stealth from other players

IV) Stealth from Jedi

Force traps:

I) Drop some defence from melee for Jedi

II) Drop some defence from ranged for Jedi

III) Drop some defence from ranged/melee for Jedi

IV) Slow down Jedi burstrun

Jedi Compainion

I) Ability to get missions against force weilding NPCS

II) Increased mission payout against force NPC

III) Increased mission payout against force NPC

IIII) Ability to lobby force NPCs for super high payout missions

The idea is to form a profession that would be a serious companion to a Jedi..as the Antarian Ranger is suppose to be. Have the Antarian Ranger be the eyes, ears and primary assistant for income for a Jedi companion, but not make it so that the Antarian Ranger becomes a Jedi Bounty Hunter. If this is an Elite-Elite than Master Ranger would be a prereq and you would have 110 SP after Master Ranger. 64 for Antarian Ranger would leave 46 SP left which is enough to dabble up into enough of an Elite Combat profession to still be a quality hunter but not be a true threat to a Jedi, unless the Antarian Range is paired up with another Jedi as it should be!

Just some quick thoughts really.

To much like BE. They would be very unhappy if we could "ranch" and breed the wild creatures and they are not being allowed to "create" them from DNA samples.

No most likely it would be the militaristic tree of Ranger, like our current military rangers in the special forces. This kind of ranger take a lot from the "nature" ranger but incorporates it into "hunting the enemy".

Definately like your Antarian Ranger ideas, Valkyrie.

I'm thinking something like in the "Rambo: First Blood" yanno some kind of "Wilderness Commando"

Able to defend and kill with nature....

The abilty to totally conceal with a knife equipped maybe

Or maybe the ability to build some cool things like the Ewok's had. Big swinging tree rams they used in the Battle of Endor on AT-ST's and AT-AT's.
