Thread: Conceal working in PvP at Master Ranger!! come on lets make this an Issue.
You want a Ranger to Rock?? Let us use como kits in PvP at master ranger and use our track to check detect concealed people at Master. And only us can be concealed in PvP not others. Which simply means that we do not come up on radar and you would have to manually target us.... Not actual inviso but just make it a targeting and Radar thang.
LETS START THE RIOT NOW!!!!!
Well it is a good idea, and it Has Been There Done That. The big problem isn't so much being inviso, which devs have said no. But also the fact that both ranger and scout coorespondants seem to make it clear that youcan't remove someone from radar, because then they are not targetable, thus not going to happen. It sort of makes sence, because if you have "seen" any mission or Theme Park NPC you don't see them on radar and you can target them even maually. They only show up on visual display.
But I just thought of an idea for our camo to work in PvP almost as good. Not sure if this was suggested. What if, like you said only the ranger, were overt when they applied a camo kit, it made them look nuetral, light blue on radar? So they are still targetable, still show up on radar, still show up on screen, but....
1) If they are Overt
2) Only the master ranger can do this and to himself only
3) They look nuetral on radar until either they take a hit or give a hit of any kind.
This would allow for ranger to potentially make sneak attacks, or spy out some enemy formations etc.
Apparently there is some force working against me posting on this thread. ![]()
Most of the Elders know my stance on this request...
If anyone can devise a way for concealment from other players that is not client side hackable and does not resort to complete invisibility (which the developers have vetoed in the past), I am all ears. ![]()
squid, let me rephrase to see if i understand your idea: you are suggesting that ranger pvp conceal effectively turns us from overt to tef, with the difference being we can initiate attack (whereas when you are tef you cannot).
if this is what you are suggesting, i gotta say i think it's probably the most realistic solution to the pvp conceal debate. good thinking ![]()
"it made them look nuetral, light blue on radar? So they are still targetable, still show up on radar, still show up on screen"
Actually this idea has been brought up before as well. ![]()
Same logic as the other Radar applies though...
- If you are Targetable then the Client application knows you are an enemy.
- If the Client application knows you are an enemy, a resourceful hacker can "adjust" the Radar code to display your dot as Red.
Essentially the hack would defeat the purpose of the concealment, and cause havoc. ![]()
How about this.
Since in real-life there are many cases of snipers so well concealed they have nearly been stepped on, make it so they are hard to see, not invisable, they move they are seen simple as that, have to be prone for that "invisability" which really is a hard to see. Yea, we look like a bush or a rock or a hill in the landscape. We have to be clicked on to be targeted and we don't show on radar.
It's not true invisability but not easy to see and we have to be prone for it to really work. though it also makes using it in the middle of a busy street inpossible. It can work in the surrounding areas though.
Sound like a logical way to take it?
Good idea, as long as we were out in the weeds, not in the middle of a city street.
"Gee Bob, what is that bush doing in the middle of the street?" "Dunno Bill, must bea Ranger, shoot it!!"
We could hide in parks in the city, as long as there were bushes or trees, not just grass ( a lump would be really noticable doncha think??), but other than that, this skill would be useless in the urban setting. Which is not a bad thing, as we are primarily a non-urban profession.
Sorry to throw a vrelt wrench into the works, but common sense has to prevail

Hard to see how that circumvents the central delima- devs have said "no way" to disappearing radar blips.
Agreed antwil99.
The concept would be really cool...
- If there was a way to actually implement it without risk of client side hacks.

"doesnt the launch pad scan the client files quickly when u boot it up"
And what checks the LaunchPad to see if has been hacked? ![]()
"4th gen MMORPG still has to worry about client hacks making it to live servers?"
Of course they do. As thesystems get more advanced, so do the people who use them. ![]()

The only way to be sure that no can hack the game is do all the sensitive work on the Server side.
