I was going to respec to Ranger again after the CU after being commando for a while.
I noticed that Ranger costs much more than commando (or any other profession I've got)
Ranger Novice: 8pt
Ranger 1st level: 9pt
Ranger2nd level: 10pt
Ranger3rd level: 11pt
Ranger4th level: 12pt
Ranger Master: ??
While commando cost:
Commando Novice: 7pt
Commando 1st: 8pt
Commando 2nd: 9pt
Commando 3rd: 10pt
Commando 4th: 11
Commando Master: 12
Other profession I have tried cost the same as commando so is it a known issue that Ranger should be more expensive or is it a bug?

What did you mean by that, was it a known issue that ranger would cost more than any other profession? I am not talking about prerequisites(of which I know ranger is the worst)I am talking about cost in the master combattree which, from what I have heared, should map directly 1:1.

Well if you take Master Ranger and an Elite Master combat skill you will have 4 skill points left over, nothing more nothing less.

Yes, if you read up on some past threads going back to the first testing of Rangers you will see that the Ranger community has voiced its strong concern over Ranger taking the most SP of any profession. Master Ranger + elite combat skill = that's all folks.

Yes, butI do not thinkunderstand what I am saying. This has nothing to do with skillpoints it has to do with that the cost of ranger in /respec is borked (or possibly working as intended).
Pre CU I was
Brawler 4400
Master Marks
Master Rifles
Master Commando
Planned post CU
Master Scout
Master Ranger
Master Rifles
If I dump brawler, and become 4004 marksman -> Master Scout (this works)
Then Commando andranger should map directly over, but it doesn't because in respec ranger cost more than commando (according to my first post).

Oops, missed this one. If you are remapping the OLD commando skill tree over to Ranger it should work. Master Marksman = Master Scout, Master Commando=Master Ranger, with one line to spare. The problem you are having is that the Rifleman portion of your desired template has become more expensive. Therefore if you want to get rifleman you have to steal the points from whatever other profession you had skillpoints in.
Ranger hasn't actually changed. It was more expensive than rifleman before and it is still more expensive.
Hi, I would like to point out for the third time that I'm not talking about cost in the term of pre-requisites I am talking about the /respec window.
Forget all other skills just assume that we magically can remap commando to ranger without pre-requisites, then ranger cost more than commando in the /respec window.
Commando give 171 elite points when I surrender it while the elite profession ranger cost (my estimate 189 elite points). This is only on elite level and has nothing to do with the novice pre-requsistes skills. Why is this?

Actually Paks it has changed. The other professions are all 8-11 elite skill points from box 1 to box 4. For whatever reason Ranger is 9-12. Its 1 higher in each box then ANY other profession.
So somone like me who has 8 points in FS skills (2 trees). Grabs Master Rifleman and then goes up ranger and is at 2 points left at 4/4/4/2. This is a bug and isnt as intended im sure. Since we have the highest pre-reqs of any profession, ironically with the least reward, this just feels like a mistake in how the elite points were fiqured out.
Paks you know im not a whiner or even someone who posts often anymore. But this is broken trust me.

Not sure if you did, but you probably ought to post this on the CU discussion boards. I doubt anyone here knows why Ranger boxes cost more respec points than another Elite profession - only the Devs can answer that.

Odd. Good thing we have more than one respec! Ok Templar, I take back everything I said.
I would wait a few days before trying Ranger as your template, I am sure Owen is asking about this.
And I hope no one thought I was calling them a whiner.
I was just sharing my understanding of how it worked on TC. We have had a lot of threads lately asking about why Ranger is so expensive compared to the other combat professions and I think most of us assumed this was another one. Appologies!
And I hope no one thought I was calling them a whiner.

hehe
Well, I have opinions about the skillpoint cost too, but I can accept that. I was abit irritated by this though since I had planned to respec back to my good old ranger. I had even prepared and grinded an extra novice branch so I could take master scout
Anyho, glad you understood and that more ppl are aware of it. I did a /bug but I expect the devs to get the same impression you got, that I was talking about skillpoint cost.
