What kinds of items can you forage as a Ranger?

Are they comparable to what chefs can make?

"You start to searh the area for items."

You failed to find any skill worthwhile in the Ranger class.

Sorry couldn't resist. It's sad cause I was gonna be a Rander but the profession is terrible, they have made it so you are nothing more than a glorified scout. Let's hope this someday gets the attention it needs. :/

Not sure what the chef can make, but I have foraged several onions that give me +~500 action.

That is the very nature of the Ranger, we are a Scout that has chosen to further those skill trees. If you look at most professions, they are furthering their previous lines in some way. Sure we could use some fleshing out, but we're not going to see a radical departure from our Scout roots.

Oops and to answer the original question, I've foraged food from various planets which have increased my health and action and mind. I am fairly certain the chef food will have longer duration and increased effects, and I have yet to forage a "drink" so I think Chefs have the market there.

Forgaing is a very good way to easily pick up food and drink for buffing purposes. A lot of the stuff you may encountner is pretty poor, compared to chef buffs, but there are a few items that are extremely worthwhile. I usually forage while camping to make the time pass. I've found that there is a limit to how much you can forage in one place. It seems to be three items most of the time. In any event, give it a try. Like everything else in the ranger profession, it doesn't cost anything but your own time!

I've foraged a nectar blend too, but when you drink it, it fills up your food rather then drink...anyone else notice this?

I've had the same issue with nectar blend. So far, the only non-food forage that I have come up with is fishing bait. AFAIK, you can't forage for items that can be drunk. But who knows for sure?

for awhile as a scout, i foraged alot. ive found tons of different plants to boost pools. ive alsof found jars of berries, jars of grubs, jars of worms, jars of fish bait, nectar blend (which doesnt work as a drink?), and a few other things that seem to slip my mind at this moment.

If you read in the skill tree under Frontiering it says that your foraging skills increase plus you have the chance of finding a rare item. I tried foraging I have Frontiering 1 last night and every 3 forage attempts I find something that must be too big to fit in my inventory because it discards it. I will empty my inventory tonight and try it again. Anyone else have anything to add to this as far as finding a rare item?

ive read in several places on this board, that rare items is bugged. could be thats why we get that message when foraging?
