Thread: Slightly controversial, but deserves discussion nonetheless.

So.. on the one hand we could get combat modifyer to bring us up to par with regular combat professions that cost less skillpoints, on the other we remain the same, and can be hoisted up temporarily by inhaling nature drugs? Hmm... to what end, and even how much?
I see your point, but here is mine.
Ruby Bliel is not a profession modifier, it is a temporary enhancement found only in foods / drinks.
Same with Parwan Nutricake, Gralynin Juice, Health / Action / Mind regeneration rate (except for spices which have similar effects,) and Synthsteak, among others.
One negative aspect of this would be expence, but we can trade in organics for foods to Chefs if a proper system could be devised.
I'd rather have combat modifiers. It's less unique, yes. But consider this: the game as a whole is becoming more homogenized, and a great many of the foods and drinks do the same thing. The majority of the time, we pick our battles. We probably know ahead of time what we shouldhave in our stomachs. Are we that likely to encounter a situation in which a critical stomach purge gives us the upper hand? (Upon further consideration, this might be worth it for the animation alone.)
I'd much rather have tangible combat modifiers than a questionableability that's entirely dependent upon what my opponent is doing and what food/drinks I have on me.

Our lines should have General Ranged/Melee Speed/Accuracy modifiers, vice the other option.
I don't use food enough for this to be worth it, and if it was installed to the game for our profession I'd be insanely disappointed.
Combat Modifiers. Esp vs critters. But that'd be actually useful.
Stomach modifier sounds great (lore-wise) but as much as food is bugged/changed - no way. It'd just be like tents all over again except instead of starting out great and useful, it'd just be pre-nerfed.
Stomach churners? Just let's us recycle a pretty low level buff.
It 'feels' more like the combat mods would be more use generally.

It's not puking, geez. Why is that assumption made in almost every post?
The point, for logistics sake, is that we would have a fast metabolism. That means that we can digest foods quicker to make use of their energy in a tight situation, i.e. increasing the absorption of organic molecules within the linings of the stomach and intestines.
But, if you just want the combat modifiers, that's fine too. You shouldn't knock an idea for the picture you get from imagining a fictional skill animation, and I haven't really seen anything other than "I don't have an eating disorder," and "I'd rather have something similar to other professions." Weren't we in pursuit of uniqueness anyways?
The arguments I suspected would be: Balancing the abilities, preventing exploitation, etc.
My bad for getting your idea sidetracked with the purging thing. Still, my main complaints with it are A) it doesn't seem likely to see much use given the similarity of many post-CU comestibles (how many just modify pool regen to some extent or another now?), and B)I don't like that it's a reactive thing. I don't have enough room in my toolbar for every food that I use plus all my specials and stuff, and if for some reason I need to fast-metabolize and eat/drink again on the fly, I'll probably only wind up getting myself killed.
It wasn't my intention tocallously shoot down the idea out of hand, but if it were a choice between fast metabolism and general mods, I'd much prefer general mods.

Equally if we were given the ability to consume food and drink faster instead, I would be equally happy, as I use 4 food/drinks all the time and others occasionally.
If I could pick a specific modifier it would be General Ranged Speed, with General Ranged Accuracy in 2nd place.
