Thread: Maintance Rate on certain objects a bit too much?

I've learned that 1 city lamp cost 1500c a week to maintain...

Now we have a pretty decent city growing 1 rank for every week. Now say we want 50 streetlamps to make the city looks serious/cool. 50 x 1500 = 75000 just for a bunch of sodding streetlamps that doesn't even iluminate enough!

I think you devs should consider revising the maintance prices. Some of them are a little stupid and should be lowered I think. Ofcourse as the city grows, so does the income. But I do feel some of the maintance rates are a bit to big! I don't think you will see to many player cities littered with constructions as the maintance price is a pain.

What do you guys think?

Absolutely. 1.5k is way too much. I'd say thats 250c is closer to a good number.

Agreed, I see really no point having them when close to cost as much as a mission terminal without adding anything else then small radius of light in the night.

They really do cost too much, but can be used as a nice christmas decoration

Yeah the rate is insane our city is paying close to 400k per week atm and thats with the research specilization that we still have not seen any benefit from whatso ever.

looks like they have made cities a money sink and zero content.

Agreed, The cost of buildings is a little high. However decorations are way to high! It would be nice to see more gardens and fountians. They give the town a chance tolook original. Cost of player towns needs to be eased a bit.

I agree the maint for some of the decorations is to high. I also think that the limit is to low. I know, I know data base problem. But when you get to a lvl 4 or 5 city you have a lot of room to cover with decorations. And the limit is just to low imo for how much room you have.

Due to the cost of lights and limited number of decorations you can have our PA has limited them to only 4 or so and we are using gardens instead as most are lit and give a bit more graphical bang for the buck. Also lightposts dont' draw on the client until you are VERY close to them while gardens in general seem to draw at longer distances.

Maintenence on EVERYTHING is too much. My citiesmaintenence is 364.5k. We have 61 citizens currently. Each person's share is 5975cr/week. If I told everyone to pay 6k in Income Tax a week I think everyone would say OK. If I tell everyone to pay 2K/week and make Property and Sales Tax each 8% we would balance our budget. 8% tax?!?! Who wants to pay that?!?! I know that's not a rational reaction, but that's how people react to taxes. I hate it. If we could charge 6k/week we would.

I appointed a City Comptroller. He's great! He made up this spreadsheet. I'm not sure if he has any bandwidth restrictions, so I may be killing his account, but it's not that big so I don't think there will be a problem. Take a look at it. I think it's very interesting. Feel free to comment.
