last week in politics

nothing really happened in the city that's worth mentioning... mainly because I've been slacking. nowadays I mostly listen, read, and reply to reports from my various militia members, and occasionally walk around and be evil... *ahem* I mean, look official I still make the major decisions in the city (such as placement of large houses/guild halls, ok-ing new ideas, etc), but the day-to-day tasks of running the city is now passed on to the militia. kudos to everyone on my team

I guess I'll present some of the reports I've received instead. we got a request for placing a guild hall in our city, which isn't a big problem because our city's built on a flat area and has lot of room, but I want to limit what part of town they'll be placing it at. this also includes people who place large houses, since we don't have a desginated area for them. they're scattered around the city, whereas there are middle/small house "areas". I've just declared the area between the theatre and the militia HQ no-build zone, and I might put a "mayor's residence" there, right next to our x-wing

I know I should be working on my FAQ, but I took a small vacation to the garlic festival, then SF China town this weekend it was HOT, but it was fun! for future reference, garlic ice cream wasn't as bad as I imagined it, but I'll stick with my usual flavors, thankyouverymuch O.o not even my boyfriend or Tiaga liked the garlic chocolate, and I wouldn't even touch it... ick I'll probably pick up the FAQ again some time soon.

I have a few issues I want to address to folks who post on this forum too without making individual replies every time. the large fonts are really hard to read, and I'm tempted to break my "read every post on this forum" rule on those posts. I also know you guys want stuff such as mayor resignation options, and I've been bringing them up over and over... but I'm probably not going to read any of the replies on those posts any more.

I don't know if any devs look at the forums directly, and posting things like "devs please reply" aren't gonna drag them there. I also won't answer every "Pappi please reply" threads. I still read every post, so there's no need to bump anything for me (since I've most likely read it more than once before the bump, but chooses not to reply.) we don't have a top 5 atm, but I've mentioned our top issues on the corr forums a lot, and will continue to do so.

while I'm on this topic, I would like to thank the folks that have been answering posts with good (and correct) answers. it saves me time, energy, and sanity, which are all in short supply at the moment. I really appreciate the support from you folks

... arg, 5am... time for a shower and bed. so how was your city this week?

Our City is Metropolis and still grows, even though we have a really difficult terrain. We are a pure roleplay city and have now set up rules for everyone to agree on or be banned from the city services. This may sound harsh and obviously makes some people very much angry, but we still decided to do so. The fact, that we want to play the game with as much immersion as possible is more important than those who trya to use every occasion for a duel or a fight. We are the city council, we make the laws.

One of our community members, Cael Broden, has set up a new Holonews site for us to discuss and have the possibility to make our roleplay stories available to others. It can be found at : http://farpoint.assembly.online.com

There you also can find the city rules.

Pay us a visit and be welcome, it might be interesting !

Well, this has nothing to do with our cityandI just want to pat you on theback Pappi at the great job you're doing.

First, I don't feel a need to report on our city. Maybe, that just adds more than necessary. It's a good thing, not every city is reporting.......lol

I also hate the posts that use HUGE fonts. Why do we even have different font types and sizes ?

I could never read every post, I'm already part of 3 or 4 other forums and I get lost with all these different threads too.

Maybe, a better forum type is needed. Me too, I can only read about the same repetative things so many times.

If I hear about the auto-vote, the 51% votes, orhow to email all citizensany more - I'm gonna scream.

I'm convinced, notmany actually read forums but only post to them. Maybe, we should have them go to:

- Knowledge Base first,

- stickies second,

- forums last.....

Oh, our city is doingfine but I could use a few more cits and I could use a few more cits that actuallyplay.I went around checking some of the houses and I can tell you, some of the houses were of players that I haven't seen in ages. A house must take 6 months to totally decay.........

It would be nice to have a population that was stable and have a few more cits around. We've got over 60 apparently on the cit list but I never see more than 10 ever online. Definately, not 20. Being a small city on a remote planet has it's challenges and I'm anxiously waiting for JTL and a few more new players.

Alot happening in our city this week - we hit the magic 55 number and were lucky enough to get a shuttleport. It was cool most of the city was there setting off fireworks as the server pulsed.

We have come a long way since our little outpost started in February.

Dear PappI:

City of Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

Guess what? I got elected as mayor. Well, not me, but my alt did, and things are looking very bright for our city's future. Already did a bit of rearranging for the city, removed extranneous fountains and streetlamps, moved the shuttleport, moved the bank, added some statues and streetlamps to our cantina in town, and generally am having a blast so far. And since he's an alt, I'm not lamenting the skill points for Politician.

It only took 2 weeks and a LOT of emails, but it worked. Outta 78 citizens I got 40, our incumbent got 38, and generally was a smooth transition, since our mayor was going on vacation from the game for a few months. It was a little disturbing that that many people didn't vote or are inactive or idle, until I checked my records. It seems that of the 38 who did NOT vote for the transition, about 20 of them had logged in at some point in the election process, just didn't vote (I used the /tip 1 cr via bank trick).

SO, the citizens are still there (thankfully) just maybe summer-idle, enjoying the sunshine and good weather. I anticipate they'll start coming back as August and September roll around, and happily rejoin the bustle of our city.

Our new city configuration is working nicely, but it'll be a few weeks until I can place large gardens to complete the new formations. Hopefully this has the desired effect of concentrating of the traffic of our city in the commercial area, so that there are people coming through constantly. Sometimes it's not that it's a dead city, it just looks that way cuz of traffic flow. Centralizing our traffic flow should help people to see that we do have an active city, just maybe not summer-active

Farpoint, Dantooine, Tempest

I am pushing for Farpoint to become multi-factional. Yesterday I send a mass email suggesting that our citizens post on our official forums with their thoughts on this. I hope we accept this new line of thought. With Farpoint becoming a Research Center as soon as Wednesday, the neccessity to remain a factionally aligned city just isn't there.

An Imperial alligned city has placed its self south of Vodo-Siosk. I have declared war against the city and sent out a "call to arms" to my residents. This should get the PVPers in my city really excited. I hope it winds up being fun also.

However I do wish there was more features i could to hinder this city that has popped up. Still wating for the GCW revamp. =)

Well I've been a politican/mayor for over a year now. (Yeah I know cities haven't been out that long, but I was politicing since day one of the game. You don't know how many shirts I gave away with simple a request that people vote for my character later, when/if politican came out.) I joined a guild, but on the conditions that I would get to be a politican later, which if that meant even taking over as the 'figure head' of the guild they would let me, and they aggreed. I also refused to join a faction until I knew how faction could affect the politican field. Anyways. So a year ago I joined the Guild of Sanctuary and helped them located a city for the guildhall, with the plans of building a city in that area in the future. We haven't moved from there, and we are a major metropolis on Naboo, that most people on the server know about.

This week we had our one year founder's day party. There was a fashion show, scavenger hunt, dueling contest, 20 minutes solid of fireworks, and story telling contest. I arranged everything, and it went off well with only one problem of a party crasher (mentioned in another post.).

I have my monthly maintance run to do this weekend. (Making sure everyone has paid their mainance and checking which houses are dead houses).

We STILL have one dead house that seems to have been in the city since we first founded it. Still having issues with people being bounced from the militia and having to re-add them.

The newest thing I've inacted is the 'city tour'. Which I give to militia members to be sure they know where and what people can build in the city.

Not much to do in the city, other then wait for our skills to be useful again. So working on other skill tress for awhile.

Hiya,

First time posting on the mayor boards here. I am Mayor of Galactica on Talus and we are actually making a move over to Naboo. Unfortunately we have about 7.4 million credits in our treasury, and after talking to a csr, I come to find that I will have to either wait and withdraw all funds ( a time span of about 150 days ) or destroy the structure so we can begin anew on Naboo (hah... I just made a rhyme).

Anyway, I am trying for another responce from them to see if they will just transfer all credits into my bank account, so we can start on New Galactica. Hopefully it will be good news

thanks

This week has been well we grew to a 2nd rank city /pat back i was so happy to be able to place our garage our cantina and i can not wait to slap that old medical center down...

Taxes: 10% sales 10% garage fees that is the only taxes we will ever have in city just to help generate a little bit of funds.......

While our city continues to grow i continue to get more and more anxious to place our shuttleport. I can not wait to be able to be the first one to use it :-).

We are currently up to 20 residence now and plan to hit the 35 mark by next week. Ummm that is about it this week been kinda slow but we have had a few outsiders stroll thru the town and say how nice it was laid out considering i spent 4 hours autocaddign the design i think i should get a few nice compliments ...

Till next week have fun all happy politicin.

Life carries on pretty much as usual in Crimson Sands - we're still hovering in the 39-43 declared citizens range. I've decided that we're cursed though, as for 3 weeks everytime we went over 40, something would happen to lose us two people (people would move to a nicer spot in town and forget to redeclare, maint wouldn't be paid and so on) Our numbers are slowly growing, so it's just a matter of time.

The citizens are a very friendly bunch, so I'm enjoying myself pretty much 80% of the time, though I am finding the job a little hard and thankless at times.

And a small debate with one of my citizens on Monday; he was telling me that I should remove the cloning centre and move x y and z to THIS spot, raise THIS tax, remove THAT tax and so on. He'd had a little to drink, but after a while I suggested he might want to run for mayor too.

We're preparing for the wedding of two of our numberin a couple of weeks, so that's building exitement nicely. Our towns guild leader and I are pushing to get more non-combat events going on a regular basis too- we currently hold two PVE hunts a week (and about to start a third), but as a character with no combat skills, I'm really not seeing the benefit.

Finally, I managed to eventually convince my malitia that we have FAR more combat-orientated citizens than crafting/entertaining ones, and maybe they might not put so much emphasis on getting more from the bloodthirsty crowd.

Well, not much has happened in the Desert Flower Commune since I forgot that I'm the mayor (and it has been a long time since I've posted here).

Population fluxuates around 70 but I have been notified I should be losing 5 residents at the end of the summer and estimate another 3 to 4 whose houses will decay. Finally gotten responses for getting a Council set up and established. So far one application.

Discussion of taxes have been the main issue now and right now finding a good balance. Finally have a City Forum established for residents but right now I've been kicking everyone in the arse to get there and sign up (my foot is sore). Had an opponent in the election for two weeks but they became upset that they didn't win and haven't shown up in the game (oh well, no big loss). And right now, there are discussion about creating a weekly Commune hunt/raid.
