I had to start a new thread with this...

/citywarn plain and simple can be a tool of griefing...lets say there are few houses in a remote area...I am some of my friends plop down a city hall...I already have some skills and I set them to militia...I know charge insane taxes for your shop and sales tax on your sales...before you know it you are now part of my city and paying me some good money. When you come to complain...even though you have chosen TOTAL neutrality no rebel and no imperial faction points in your character we citywarn you and chase you off. what do you do now? we might allow you to run to your house, and yes we wont be on all the time...but if we see you around /citywarn

Or in the case of current cities say there is an actual mayoral race. Not an isntalled mayor...but the incumbant doesnt like having his position threatened so he gathers enough of his supporters and any time you try to go run, or your supporters come to vote for you...we /citywarn you...hope you can vote in 30 seconds and still get past my Graul...

These are just 2 examples of griefing with /citywarn...Even if you dont want to PVP you can still be pKilled.

Give the Devs time, they will make your militia useful. But lets get the griefing aspect out of the game now and think of a new useful way to use the militia...

1. They were changing the citywarn timer from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Plenty of time to vote and get out.

2. I was always under the impression that you couldn't warn or ban citizens of a city. Is this not the case?

Its wierd...some people say /citywarn wont work on their citizens...but I know from first hand experience that it can be used on residents.....and yes with 2 minutes you can scamper in vote and run away...not very fun. Like your in Nazi Germany and quickly dashing past the SS troopers before they decide to take you out...this isnt battlefield 1942 though hehe

Or the person can move their house 200m away from their current location, because I could almost promise that with that mentality you wouldn't get many new residents, and if you continued to follow them it would bea CSR issue of stalking, and I am sure some action could be taken against you.

And for that second comment can't say much on it because we have stuff like that here in Chicago, just not grauls... mostly no necked guys.

in all honesty you should know about the city you are moving to before you move.

I know for a fact that /cityban is not supposed to work on citizens, wasn't sure if warn was or not.

As for your other argument, so what? If you did something to tick off the militia in the city, then you deserve to be made to scamper out o town. If they just don't want you there, why should you be able to stay? They're currently in control of the city. Why would you want to be somewhere where you weren't welcome, other than to harass the people who aren't welcoming you?

Ok what if the thing I did to tick off the militia was I appear white to them (if they are imps) and I happen to be running through their city to get to another POI....yeah yeah 2 minutes better use my burst run that guy has 2 ATSTs! There are plenty of cities with a me Only attitude and if you come near /citywarn you better skirt around MY city...

With planetary caps being raised why should I have to skirt around all these bubbles of cities...and if I dare to run through one I run the risk of being attacked if I cant get out fast enough...plain and simple it was getting crazy and needs to be change PLINKA Said they are working on a solution everybody went Nutzo because they think this is the end and this is what its going to be...Im sure they are trying to do something to make it less griefy...

Then skirt around their city instead of running through it. No one's forcing you to run through their city.

They're in control of the city currently. If you don't like what they're doing, avoid the city or try to get them to change their policies. But taking a needed tool away from everyone is not the way to deal with a minority that are using it in a way with which you disagree. Never has be, never will be. That kind of thinking is just the refuge of the weak or tyrannical.

The argument that because something can be used to grief is not good enough here. Your own example dictates that City Halls should be removed because they are used to grief. Your own example dicates that taxes should be removed becasue they are used to grief. Droids can be used to grief, shall we remove them? A flamethrower can be used to grief, shall we remove them? A Comabt Medic can use disease to grief, shall we remove them? Do you use harvesters? Need I continue? These are in the game because it is Star Wars, not Barney's Playhouse!

No one guaranteed us that we would not PVP if we stayed neutral. For anyone to think that being neutral was some kind of "get out of PVP" card is insane. That doesn't even fall in the lines of Star Wars. Did Luke's Aunt and Uncle support the rebel cause? No! they were what? Neutral! And yet they were forced into PVP so to speak(and then there are all the Neutrals on a certain planet that was destroyed by a certain battlestation). The galaxy is a hostile place, with many different people. Learn to live in it.

So what if they are neutral and choose not to PVP. If they are in a city and are warned, they have 30 seconds (or 2 minutes if they did increase times) to make a choice. If they stay, they chose PVP. Period. no if, ands or buts.

Warning people in the manner that some have will not be the tolerated in the my city, but to take away this function hurts more than me, it hurts all those I have dedicated to protect!

A militia abuses the city warn feature. They are disorganized, leaderless citizens with commands they should not have.A City Police Department is not any of these things. It is organized. It is responsible. It is held accountable by the people.

skirting around a city is no different than skirting around a heavy mob base.. you ran through it.. you are liable to get attack...

So you want to submit every resident of every player city to possible grief that they have no way to stop or control so you can run in a straight line instead of around the borders of the occasional city?

Ok......

What did you do before player cities when people were being lude and such? really citywarn has only been in the game for a month? how long have you been in the game.

Ok Emperors...control your city have your citywarn. OR actually allow the devs to fix it...Alot of people on this board have gone all Nuts and have NO idea what the devs are doing all they know is they are losing their fun /citywarn and dont tell me it hasnt been fun to be the boss. Sasheria Im sure you have a nice little town and all and all the militia are respectful and would only use /citywarn if it was someone who really deserved it. Maybe instead you should have the ability to make it so they cant even enter Your city. How about a way to make it so you can eject someone from the boundaries of Your city.Better yet since some characters are more powerful than the militia...to get rid of griefers instead of /citywarn a way to make it so they are automatically death blown...that way your militia doesnt take the chance that they bit off more than they can chew...

Yes yes we all know a Rule taken to extremes is rediculous Taxing isnt griefing..even if they make it the maximum they can and withdraw credits and give refunds to their friends.

And yeah we can skirt 450m around a town to make sure we dont come in range of their militia...I say keep citycaps in place if they think about this...or dont let outposts expand...

And yes if Im a mayor I should be able to let my buds attack anyone who comes in site of our town. Its more fun that way.

You folks want the ability to police the game. Forget /report maybe we should have server wide militia...we could be interviewed and have the ability to /warn anyone in the game anywhere that way you see someone who is acting wrong...they have 2 minutes to logout or be deathblowed...something to pass onto the devs for consideration.
