Thread: /citywarn can too easily be used for Griefing, to soothe your ego others remain to be griefed?
we don't use use the /citywarn unless we have to.. we only use it twice on non-PA member (we were testing on each other.. hehe.. that doesn't count)
I would love if the /cityban just eject the person out of the city (kinda like getting thrown out of the city) but not the case..
You are ignoring the true, underlying issues here.
If the Devs didn't see this coming like a Mac truck through a glass wall I have absolutely no faith in their abilities to do anything, let alone program this game.
So what did they do? They wasted development time putting it in, tweaking it, etc. - only to take it away.
So, so silly.
If they just set the timer higher, to 4-5 minutes, you have an option : RUN.
It's just bowing to the carebears who /cry their eyes out over any danger or anything in the game that doesn't belong in CareBear Land.
GCW? Please. If there was a GCW, REBELS COULDN'T CLONE IN IMPERIAL CITIES, and vice versa.
The whole thing is one big mess - and what little faith I had in the Dev team has just been shattered.

Now you're grasping at straws, Maxx. Fine with me, it just means you're out of arguments. So the force you're warning can beat your militia. Fine. At least they got to fight and TRY to make them leave. You can also recruit more help, and be ready for them the next time they decide to come harass you.
But what kind of argument is that against /citywarn! "They must take it out because if you use it you might lose!".
Makes no sense whatsoever, and has absolutely no bearing on this issue.

Audio your overreacting a bit...they have Something in the works...Plinka said they did...they didnt just slap this code in and then decide to take it out...its not even on live yet for goodness sakes... maybe they'll put it back in with a 4 minute timer...you dont know...
And what happened the last time they pulled something out because they "had something in the works" to make it better?
Answer: 3 months of NOTHING, and then item decay on death which everyone hates.

Im not running out of arguments...I believe my original reasons are enough...but you and many others on the board dont want your power taken away..so you'll disagree...we could go back and forth all night about how it can be used for good and used for bad...all Im saying is Ive seen people using it for bad...and thats why I dont like it. Im sure Sasherias city is great...and she has no reason to want it gone...she wants to have it in case someone comes to her city and is acting disrespectful or whatever...we will just not agree on the subject and Its probably moot anyway because the devs have seen this controversy and Im sure have MUCH more information on hows its being used than we would know. They will fix it how they see fit and we will probably just have to live with it..I await Plinkas post now
What power? I don't have any power. I'm not a mayor. Actually, I take that back. I DO have power, because I'm a resident in a city and can choose to vote against the current Mayor. I have more long-term power than any mayor in the game, and so do you. Keeping my power is absoltely not dependant on whether /citywarn is in the game or not. My ENJOYMENT of the game is.
And every single argument you made was very handily refuted by myself and others, and you just happened to ignore most of those refutations. That's the only possible reason you turned to your 10 BH argument, because there was nothing left. If you had any other argument, you would have used it because of the absolute weakness of that one.
Remember, I don't want to stop you from frolicking with your Durnies. I do want to stop the legions of griefers in this game from making the life of me and everyone that lives in my city miserable. Taking the only tool that allows us to do that way is not the answer.

I think that /citywarn has both its positives and negatives. It's useful to keep peace around your PC. If someone is going around spamming and just being an ass, then yes, use /citywarn and be done with him. On the other hand, if someone is just walking around the city looking around, and some militia on a power trip /citywarns him and kills him for no reason other than because he could is wrong.
If somenewbie neutral player is sampling resources inside your city limit, you can just walk up to him/her and kill them for no reason at all. They did nothing to affect the militia in anyway, yet they get DB'd? That makes no sense. (and yes, I've seen it happen to someone while passing through a PC)
Do I have a solution to fix this? Nope. Both sides can preach about the issues, but I have yet to see a compromiseable approach that works for everyone.
