Thank you devs for keeping the /CityBan

And thanks to my maker for fast fingers

I just started a new city on the 9th of this month, I have been working like crazy to decourate the entire city wtih what I can.

Yesterday, something happed that I was not expecting...

My Husband, who has a Jedi, was sitting inside the city hall, while I was out checking on the maintance of the Merchant Tents and decourating one of them

as well as our guild hall and City hall...When Low and behold, he comes someone on a swoop, right through out town. I thought nothing really big, untill I saw the name...

GK-IV, hmmm I thought, and went back to what I was doing but kept an eye on him...he gets off his swoop and walks right into the tent without so much as a word, I asked him if I could help him, he just ignored me...I figured he's just some rude kid. He leaves and drives around trying to get into my citizens houses, so I walked out of the tent and asked him one more time if I could help him, once again, silence. He drives over to the city hall, and my gut sank...he's going after my husbands Jedi, he get's off his swoop, and goes right into my city hall, Talk about quick fingers, lol my fingers typed /cityban before I even reaslised what I did. lol He didn't get one shot off. He was Zooomed right out of the Hall

My husband was safe, so I get these nasty little tells, after I send him one asking him for the third time if I could help him. He demands to know why he is city banned, I told him to answer my question, and he continues to get snotty and than orders me to pay him the bounty on my husband or we both die...I send him a tell to get a life and laugh at him, knowning now he's some young punk kid trying to act all grown up behind a monitor. He than leaves but comes back and sits down on our city hall steps, Hewas going to camp there and log off. I asked to leave or be reported for camping our town. He finally left.

I would like to see the devs bring back the /Citywarn and if possible a /citysheild lol something that when you ban them from your city, they bounce off these invisable walls...would be funny to see, however I realize that won't happen. I Would however like to see restrictions placed on the city halls, Give us the right to ban certain people from entering. Just wanted to share this with Politician's because the /cityban is a great thing and it DOES help to keep your citizens safe,

And before I am had a go at, I would have done thatfor any of the other jedi that reside in my City.

It'd be nice to have the /cityban (or that /cityshield sounded cool), but the evil's that can be done using it vastly outweigh the goods.

In your example, you were protecting your husband, but from the bounty hunter's perspective, you were "griefing" him by affecting his game play. (Because you banned him, he couldn't fullil his bounty.) All mayor's would most likely do the same for their jedi too. Then all bounty hunters would complain about it, rebels will not be allowed to go into imperial cities and vice versa. The list includes many different was players will have their gameplay affected by having it back.

Im sorry but i do AGREE with the original poster in this case. I do the same thing when a BH comes to my town. If they come into my town just scouting, that's meaning they are after someone and not something. As MAYOR, as a roleplaying event, this is the only way we have to police any actions going on in our cities. I have no problem with 1 BH coming trying to claim thier fame but knowing the world events, You hardly find 1 BH alone. Once the Jedi is TEF.. he's open game for a ghanking... and to snip that in the bud, I agree we as mayors and our militia's have the right to police the actions in our towns. Its not griefing... the game is bigger than our city, do like BHer do... scout and wait for another opportune moment. It could be considered griefing and stalking to attack someone in thier own city aswell. You know they live thier... blah blah.. but that's okay since it's the BH way??

I have a question, Where does the line get drawn? Griefing a BHer because he can't complete his bounty at the present time? or Griefing a mayor from actually having some fun and interaction in the game? A Politician is still a profession. In this scenario, the mayor created another stumbling block for the BH to overcome, just like when chasing a Jedi through a cave, you'll get agro from the mobs there, is that griefing that you die from the mobs and not kill the Jedi? Game mechanics are thier for a reason. There was no exploit in either of these cases that i have brought up. Honestly, Ryann probably wouldn't have noticed anything if the BH would have been nice to her in the beginning.

Good luck

I agree 100% with what youdid. I am a BH and I am also militia for our city. You gave the person plenty of chances by asking them if you can help them. I would have done the same thing. As a bounty hunter there are many things that they could have said. Heck I do it all the time. I get approached all the time.

I also support Rynn's actions. My city has a strict policy against any BH hunting our jedi - you will be banned on sight. Because we fashion ourselves to be devout supporters of the Empire as a whole, that penalty extends to anyone hunting any imperial jedi within our town.

I do not believe these actions are in any way griefing the BH. Is the BH griefing the jedi by hunting them? No, because that's what BH's do, hunt certain other players. So then is the mayor/militia griefing the jedi? No, because that's what mayors/militia do, protect their own.

I agree with what you done, I only ban BH's like that, I let the honest ones who say they are hunting someone get on with, because its their job in the game.

I agree with how you did this

Keep in mind you can set the City Hall to private where only citizens can enter it, you can also do that with a guildhall where only guild members can come in.

Hmm... Perhaps you CAN after all. I know the terminal doesn't list the options but I know that if I type /createVendor, I get to make a vendor there. MeciniaLua, did you set it private via the command line? If so, what exactly is that? I'd love to have that in a macro.

You can type that in any building and create a vendor.

Such kind of griefing, yes i call it grieving to abuse /cityban to stop a BH from doing his missing and getting his reward, caused alredy the loss of /citywarn. If this happens too often it s just a matter of time till we also lose the /cityban command.

And if i d be the BH i would report you for griefing in this case.

Why?

I guess I've always seen it as a mayor's right to /cityban anyone for any reason, like houses. I don't really see protecting a friend as griefing.

Pardon me, but the guy was trying to get into other peoples houses, as well as ignorning me.

I was not only Protecting one of my Citizens, but it is my right as an mayor, and the person who Started the City and Guild to ban whom I like if I find their actions unreasonable, as his were.

I asked him Three times if I could help him and was ignored. He was also stopping at all the houses trying to get in, and than with the little nasty death threats, I made sure he would not be allowed to use my city for anything.

It is attitudes like yours that ruin the game for others. Since I am not only the Mayor of a City that I built ground up, and we aren't really included in the GCW, than I was making sure that my Role in this game is played out to the extint. I had reported Him for trying to Camp out my city, and was told I did nothing wrong.

If the Bounty Hunter was honest, and told me that he was looking for the Jedi, I would have told him to take it Out of my City.

I do Not tolerate Death Threats, either in game or RL, and this young kid was directing them to me as a RL threat.

I will ban Anyone that Harasses my Citizens and myself, Plan and simple, and there is nothing wrong with that at all.
