Should be posted in JtL boards but I figured I would get a better response here; it affects you more than anyone else.

Should starship terminals, not starports, be allowed as placeable objects in player cities? From my understanding the primary reason for not placing starports in player cities was because of implementation and how that would completely fudge up the planetary map when transferring to other planets (and continuity, the devs are still concerned about thatI believe). Since starship terminals arecoded differently for sure, they would be easy to implement into player cities and wouldn't have the same negative effects as starports.

Besides I think it would be great to be able to launch/land my ship from the same city my house is in, or be able to do modifications to my ship right after I buy from a shipwright (shipwrights will more than likely be in player cities anyways).

This is probably a dead horse or already announced, but I am curious and haven't found anythingabout it.

I haven't had *any* word from the devs about that, I'll try to ask again

My guess is that, due to implementation issues, it won't be possible.

Although I would LOVE to be able to walk out of my house, head to the shuttleport in Vesania and launch my ship from there...

Never hurts to ask though. *follows Pappi to poke the devs*

I wouldn't mind having to travel to a big city in order to launch (just make sure I don't have to be overt on the ground to be overt in space and get slaughtered trying) but I would like to be able to get my missions from a trainer in my cityin order to lvl up instead of try and go to the trainers in the NPC's since those are deffinitely going to be camped out by hundreds of guys making it worse the Coronet at peak hours.

maybe just a suggestion, if this is not coming with JtL release, currently rank5 cities have nothing really more like shuttleport coming with rank4. What about bringing in a new structure where ppl can Jump into space but make it only possible for rank5 cities. Doesnt need to be a big building, the player ships arent that big and we even see sometimes spaceships in factional mission lairs.

Metro (rank 5)with a master politician should be required... but they should definitely make it an option for player cities!

I'm not sure, but it may be possible. There was a post on the Chimeara forums claiming that the Devs (Pex I believe) were thinking of giving the largest city on Chimeara a Starport, there was much annoyance over it, and it may of had something to do with the fact that the Live Event that the Devs planned crashed the server, so it was a sort of consilation, but who knows, it may be possible.

Interesting.. I started reading that thread, but then it started turning a bit ugly...

But I didn't see any real proof that Pex had agreed to do this for them. Coulda just been someone either misunderstanding something he said or else just making stuff up for attention, heh.

Still, I think it CAN and SHOULD be done.

There is no way it should be done specially for any particular city. There should be an objective way to obtain one though, even if it is just the largest player city on each planet would qualify for one.

I would hope that player city starship terminals (etc) would be subject to strong limitations. I would hope to see a city size limitation, class 5 obviously. Or create a class 6 city option. That's a personal preference and not necessarily one I would strongly advocate.

I would however strongly suggest the city with a Starport option, not be permitted to have any factional bases inside of it.

Also I would suggest that you require a player city specialization of "Starport" it would be unfair to see large cities that offer say, Medical healing bonus and a starport as well. That particular city would become the one and only place to go buff at before you set off to play.

By forcing the city to use its one and only specialization on "starport" you let smaller cities still attract members and visitors with their own specializations such as crafting bonus, healing bonus etc.

Still, I would like to see the option available provided it was developed properly.
