The lack of a viable linkage between JTLS and Player cities scares me poop-less. The JTLS expansion is going to be a ton of fun. But it is going to pull even more people out of the cities. With little or no reason to be in the Player cities other than to drop off loot in their house, more ghost towns will appear (well that is my fear anyhow). Mayors work damned hard to provide a welcoming community with things to do and reasons to enjoy their limited online time in and around the player city which we have worked so hard to build. Expansions like JTLS, while a great extension of this game, are going to seriously harm the player cities. I am in Beta and have expressed my concerns. I hope someone is listening.

Cheers!

I would make it even harder but still allowable to get a starport for a pa city. M.Politician and rank 5 city, and then make the schematic a very hard quest...as hard as getting a full suit of mandolorian (including jetpack) difficulty, with a 50% fail rate ( and losing all items on the failure combine). Final combine only could be then completed by the Master Politician. Something like that. 2 credits...

Until (and unless) they adjust the skill point sink as politician currently exists, I do NOT agree with tying this to Master Politician.

It's ridiculous to have something that tied to the master box when there's little reason to keep any of the boxes in between.

I disagree, clearly you want to gate the access to Super Perks like a starship terminal. I not only think it should be a Master Politician rank ability only, I think the city should have to choose the Specialization - Star Port.

Examining your signature, I can see why you would not feel as strongly about it as I do. Your Master Politician is one of TWO characters that you have on Scylla.

I have nothing against people willing to pay for more than one account, but frankly your opinion on this issue is inherently biased. Your character "Foster" has two professions (Master Merchant / Master Politician) that are among the two biggest skill point sinks in the game.

Many people create 2nd accounts to Master Merchant (to have vendors for their crafting profession) and to "hold the Mayor spot" in cities.

But for someone that has a single account, asking them to sink a full tree's worth of skill points into politician - as cities and the profession stands now - is asking WAY TOO MUCH.

Well i personally would think, if the Starship Terminals would come along with the Politican Revamp next year it would be good, but basically things like Too much SP for Politican, Master Politican has nothing and such havent really something to do with Starship Terminals, those are know issues, and giving Player Cities the Ability to be directly accessable from Starship would be a huge benefit, personally i think, everyone with JtL would like to live in such a city, and as it is now with Shuttleports (where people can live with traveling 3 or 4km by bike as it is like waiting for shuttle), this would be such a great bonus to a city that definitly people like to settle over to such, and other smaller cities would get an impact. As now with shuttleports, 10 per planet and 20 on the outer planets, i think if there will ever be Starship terminals in PC, they would be capped at maybe 2 maximum 3 per planet.

However, after a little thinking about this idea, i dont think it is something that should be done in a quick way, there are many side effects on this that needs to be thaught of... (And many other nice to have things in PC that can be done in a quick way i would like to see before)

Heres a great idea. I think faction bases built within a player city should have starship terminals, but only members of that faction could use them. Mabe there should be a special type of faction base.A base thathas a hangar for launching starships, but can only be built within a player city.

im still thinking on an idea for neutrals... oh, wait, i got it, a neutral faction base

It seems that this thread has strayed from where it started. We will never get starports in our cities. Doing so would remove any reason for the NPC cities. We have all the facilities so would have no reason to travel there, the Devs will never go for this. On the other hand Starship terminals could be possible. Just a simple terminal is all you would need, anthough a building could be created. The terminal would act like the NPC to leave on the corvette mission, you decide to go into space and you go to a loading screen and boom you're there. I can see this happening over the Starport idea, but it will not happen soon. Again this will make the NPC starports not completely useless, but close.
