Actually this makes me wonder...

Can trainers be placed inside a structure w/ access fees set? I know trainers can be placed inside buildings (like the City Hall).

I know what Kinshi is leaning towards and I totally agree.

I haven't tried lately, but I don't think you're allowed to have trainers indoors. the trainer has to be outdoors... which makes me wonder if I can place it on a balcony I'll test this out and write back soon.

initial testing shows that trainers CAN be placed on the theatre stage, PA hall roof, and a medium house's balcony. I couldn't access the trainer on the balcony from the ground, but since there's noone I know around I haven't asked someone else to see if they can access it.

Interesting.....so we could feasable place trainers in a loaction that would result in income for the city with their use. Problem is the price cant be scaled..so some one wanting a lv2 basic skill will pay the same as someone wanting a master elite skill. I feel the idea behind this is:

1) All skill trainers are available in NPC cities...they can use them if they like, they dont have to use ours

2) We often have the hard to find trainers...paying to have that access and ease of use would offset the cost of the trainers as well.

3) Finally would give us a reason to go to the top of the guild hall.

Any thoughts? Anyone feeling this is a greif issue?

I guess its more of a "get the okay from your citizens" issue to me.

I provide trainers as my citizens warrent. Being limited in the number of trainers I often have to remove the oldest and replace it with the current request. While its a good idea to use them as an extra income, placing them inside or atop a building makes them less visable to the masses and thereby less used. Only those that know they are there will use them, which will be your citizens. Personally i like placing a rare trainer like BH right at the shuttleport, tell me that don't create traffic for my merchant courtyard.

To me this is a grief issue and should be addressed by the devs. Why should credits go into the game's bit bucket when we are providing the services and PAYING to provide those services? it costs 1500cr per trainer per week. There should be some sort of compensation back to the city for providing that service.

Regarding the "every trainer is in the NPC cities," while this may be true to some extent the fact remains that not every trainer is in each city. They are spread out, especially for the elite professions. Also, customers don't necessarily want to run or drive all the way to an NPC city when they are in the boonies and attain the XP needed for their next box. We provide the service of convenience in outlying locations.

The player cities deserve compensation and a real economy.

Griefing is player harassment by actions they do to another. This feature is a game mechanic. But you're probably right, you probably should be able to tax the training fees, since the fees presumably go to the professions' guild.

That's my memory as well. Our former mayor attempted that when establishing a trainer's hall a couple of months ago in 2004. As for the balcony, I'm betting you won't. You shouldn't be able to drop any object on a balcony or an outdoor surface like the top of a theater or pa hall.
