Politician Archive
Thread: Iam a politician not a puppet! Gimmi POWER! Featurelist included!
Hello fellow politician,
I want to hear your opion about our current status. Dont you think we are too weak? I missing the following rights to use my profession as a politician useful. Please add more if you have others in mind. A please to our Correspondent Pinka, please forward this thread to the devs, hopefully they will implement it.
Mayor Rights
-Mayor need the right to remove or force a citizen to leave the town / tear down their houses
- Mayor need the right to add militia anytime, even if the person is offline or on a other planet
- Mayor should be able to write a MOTD that will be displayed when a player enter the city
- Mayor should be able to set different rights to the militia (X get the zone rights, Y not)
Maybe some kind of ranksystem for the militia
- "Militia" mail support, work like "citizen" but only goes only to the militia ppl
Militia Rights
- Reduce /citywarn to 5 seconds, 30 seconds is a laugh and the 2 mins on TC is a JOKE!
That makes the /citywarn absolut ineffective
- If the Mayor dont get the right to remove citizen from town, give militia the rights to /ban
and /warn them!
General City Enhancements
- We need a city information board (blackboard) ingame - Maybe a sign that can be placed in town
were specific citizen (or all) can leave message and information for the other citizen or town visitors
- We need a heavily reducing of maintanance cost (Cloning Center, Shuttleport are too expensive)
- Streetlamps and Decoration should not cost additional credits per week!
- We need a city chat channel
- Ground textures, even the city is nice build, it still look **edit** because of the ground textures
- A option to level the ground
- Politician should be able to place 1-2 signs in town with Vote messages, like
"VoteXY he will reduce your taxes"
So, what do you think? Anything to add?
Excuse my bad english, it isnt my first language :-)
Makes me wonder why some people want to be politicians...oh I know why...Well even the emperor had to start somewhere...

Mayor Rights
-Mayor need the right to remove or force a citizen to leave the town / tear down their houses Not mayor lets call him Emperor...or Godling you dont own the city mayor and you have to put up with people you dont like...but you do have citywarn
- Mayor need the right to add militia anytime, even if the person is offline or on a other planet
- Mayor should be able to write a MOTD that will be displayed when a player enter the city "Welcome to my kingdom if you dont support me get the heck out"
- Mayor should be able to set different rights to the militia (X get the zone rights, Y not)
Maybe some kind of ranksystem for the militia
- "Militia" mail support, work like "citizen" but only goes only to the militia ppl Dear Militia, hope your griefing rights are working well see below
Militia Rights
- Reduce /citywarn to 5 seconds, 30 seconds is a laugh and the 2 mins on TC is a JOKE!
That makes the /citywarn absolut ineffective Do you not get the point of citywarn? It means get out of the city, Im about to attack you...5 seconds to leave the city? Why not just allow militia to attack without any warning...that would make it all the griefier... (mmmm griefy)
- If the Mayor dont get the right to remove citizen from town, give militia the rights to /ban
and /warn them! If I cant boot you out, my militia should be able to...welcome to my kingdom I am the god given ruler of this city and if I dont approve of you...or I just want some pistol xp you will die a most grievace death...then use my cloning facility, wash rinse repeat until I bore of thee pitiful thing.
General City Enhancements
- We need a city information board (blackboard) ingame - Maybe a sign that can be placed in town
were specific citizen (or all) can leave message and information for the other citizen or town visitors Well since you booted and griefed all the "citizens" (serfs) you dont like I guess it could be all... But make sure there is a log so you can grief/boot the ones who are writing "RantMallory is a fink!"
- We need a heavily reducing of maintanance cost (Cloning Center, Shuttleport are too expensive) Well if you could attract citizens(serfs) you could pay for such things...I wouldnt move into such a place though...Insurance would be way to expensive on my number of deaths Id get.
- Streetlamps and Decoration should not cost additional credits per week! Tell that to the power company.
- We need a city chat channel
- Ground textures, even the city is nice build, it still look **edit** because of the ground textures
- A option to level the ground Last 3 are the only viable suggestions
- Politician should be able to place 1-2 signs in town with Vote messages, like
"VoteXY he will reduce your taxes" Vote for me or Ill ban, attack, make you clone and grief you till you log.
So, what do you think? Anything to add?

The mayor doesn't OWN the city. Seriously, how many people would want to join your city if you were a **edit** to all of them?
well.. couple of things.. (or at least modification)
The city belongs to its citizens... yes citizens.. thus.. the mayor is the "embodied power" of the citizen...
1. removal of structure. Mayor can initiate the removal of the structure BUT this will send an email to all citizen giving the location of X structure. Each citizen can go up to it and vote (yes or no) for removal. If reach 75% the structure will be remove (redeed) and place in city vault (lost and found) and the owner will be notified.. (this is a dream really.. coding nightmare personally)
2. Rank system. This is a good thing. Militia should be militia... they should be able to do what they are assign.. and city counsel (or city planners) would be the people just place buildings.
3. leveling a land... not a bad idea.. how about pre-place foundation? this will "pre-zone" different area or at least allow people to place houses on those plots (you can place a foundation footprint say for small house. and any small house can fit in that footprint will be able to place after getting zoning rights) of course this will cost city maint while foundation is layed (like maybe 10/cr hour until used)
4. detail tax info. I would love to know where the money is coming from.. who is donating... how much are we getting from sale tax... how much from income tax... etc etc.
I agree with all your Sasheria Accept building removal...sorry as mayor and citizens you should have NO right to just kick another citizen out. yes Warn and attack them all you want if they keep coming back being jerks...report them if it gets really bad. But I as a tax paying citizen should have every right to keep my house in OUR city regardless what you and every other citizen think. Im sorry, as much as big city mayors would love to just deport those people they dont like and get enough cronies to make it work. As a CITIZEN of that city I should be able to stay as long as im not griefing (/report them) or being an absolute nuisance (/addignore /citywarn)
rest of your stuff looked good ![]()
well.. I was thinking more of harvestors and such... currently our borders DID host some nice ore.. (it is gone now) and several rebels place some harvestors on the border.. no problem.. we upgrade last friday and those harvestors are now in our city.... (he is not a citizen) so now what?
we contact them.. and they will not move.. why?? we are imperial.. (even have a faction base) so they are going to leave all those harvestors (mediums) and just take up land so we can't build... now what???
according to the dev.. it is a "logical tactics" but if that was the case.. we have no defense... I mean I can use up lot on a 2nd account (if I have one) and just place meds and drop 100k on it.. 100k is not much to a crafter (well to some) and don't worry about it for months.
I like all of the above, except the thing about decorations should not cost weekly upkeep. In my opinion there are things that should cost weekly upkeeped, and not be decorations, or counted toward the decoration total like street lamps, you hit your decorations total very very fast when you start placing these, so most just say screw them. Also they should cost some sort of upkeep per but nothing outrageous, its just a street lamp, and if they don't count as decorations then people will have a whole lot of them like normal street lights, and other decorations should cost weekly but some of the prices are over the top. Those are just my two cents.
I guess other structures could be a concern...are harvesters affected by property taxes? That would be quite expensive just to leave a few heavies on the edge of your town...Ive seen the build space and it can be quite spacious if you placed your city wisely. I just dont see the problem of their being these types of structures in your city unless there is a field of them and the noncitizens decide to just leave them there as an insult to your city...but once again that would be VERY expensive because alot of harvesters on land that does not have high concentration is not only a waste of money, but of resources now...
Maybe taxation should affect harvesters...need to check if it does... That way you can grant mining rights to people who come to your city where a large concentration has bloomed and your city can profit from it...
In the end though I just see more of a potential for griefing on the mayors part, than on random.joe.citizen with this kind of power.
All buildings are affected by property taxes. Including harvesters and factories. A nice feature for property taxes would be the ability to tax just those types of structures, sort of an "industry tax". You know mining and factories at some point at likely to produce some form of profit for the owners.
I know I say likely, it's possible they're helping a friend. My other thought was a weekly flat rate to allow someone to place a harvester, since shifting resources would probably make them pick up and move it, and there goes that source of income.
I'm going to stop going off on a tangent with that.
That's where the problems come in. No one wants the trouble players in their cities, just like real life mayors probably don't want the trouble citizens in their city either. But, they have to deal with it. The DEVS intention wasn't for PA cities. They've stated that on many occations. So by blocking people from even moving in, or destroying their houses is like saying, "you're not in our PA so we don't want you here".
I agree that something should be done to keep all the bastards out, but fer now, the best thing to do is just ignore them. Honestly, what have they done that just makes you want to stop playing? They have a house! OH NO, NOT A HOUSE!!!! Next thing you know, they'll have a vendor!! AHHHHHHH

Mayor Rights
-Mayor need the right to remove or force a citizen to leave the town / tear down their houses
Agree, but needs a 3/4 vote from the town. All buildings placed prior to the hall should be grandfathered and this would not apply (you moved onto their land, not the other way around). I DON"T agree with tearing down their house, but I think on a 3/4 vote they should be removed from citizenship and automatically banned from all city structures, including City Hall, the shuttleport, etc.
- Mayor need the right to add militia anytime, even if the person is offline or on a other planet
Agree
- Mayor should be able to write a MOTD that will be displayed when a player enter the city
Not sure on the acronym, but I'm guessing you mean some sort of system message. I agree.
- Mayor should be able to set different rights to the militia (X get the zone rights, Y not)
Maybe some kind of ranksystem for the militia
Agree
- "Militia" mail support, work like "citizen" but only goes only to the militia ppl
I think this is overkill, since you can do that off of your friends list.
Militia Rights
- Reduce /citywarn to 5 seconds, 30 seconds is a laugh and the 2 mins on TC is a JOKE!
That makes the /citywarn absolut ineffective
30 seconds is fine, but 2 minutes is useless. 5 seconds is too little.
- If the Mayor dont get the right to remove citizen from town, give militia the rights to /ban
and /warn them!
Agreed. And that NEEDS to REALLY APPLY to civic structures, including city hall!
General City Enhancements
- We need a city information board (blackboard) ingame - Maybe a sign that can be placed in town were specific citizen (or all) can leave message and information for the other citizen or town visitors
Offline boards work fine.
- We need a heavily reducing of maintanance cost (Cloning Center, Shuttleport are too expensive)
Agreed for small and decorative structures only (like streetlamps). Cloning center costs should go back into the city treasury.
- Streetlamps and Decoration should not cost additional credits per week!
They should, but not as high as they are
- We need a city chat channel
Easy enough to make yourself
- Ground textures, even the city is nice build, it still look **edit** because of the ground textures
Agreed
- A option to level the ground
Agreed
- Politician should be able to place 1-2 signs in town with Vote messages, like
"VoteXY he will reduce your taxes"
I'd rather see street signs, personally.
So, what do you think? Anything to add?
