Thread: How do you pay the weekly bill?
We have a bit over 100 citizens in our metropolis ... and since sales tax (the one tax that would have the potential to fill your treasury for sure) is still bugged and sends the money back to the merchant or into nirvana (but never in the city treasury) we also had to think about raising our taxes a bit ...
Now we are running at 1500 income tax which gets about 1/3 of our maintanence (a bit over 500k/week) ... 10% property tax, the garage and the shuttle fee (we have a good amount of visitors due to some good running shops on our market place) gets us another 1/3 or so each week ... so it's about 100-200k that we still have to come up for.
Our plan was to put up Gardens in the name of citizens that pay a fee (which is larger than what it costs the city of course ,)) ... the last weeks we got another 130k through this service (customers pay for 1 or 3 months in advance) ... only it does take some work to get citizens to want to help the city in this kind of way (and if you don't have an Inet map of the city where people can see who donated which garden I don't know if people would like this at all ... except if it really beafs up their own homes)

I simply asked my merchants to use the honor system and donate the tax money back. Not all are doing oit but mist are and it is working pretty good as a workaround
TAXES
The income tax of 2000cr and property tax of 15% covers 52% of our weekly maintenance.
SPONSORHIP
We use sponsorship in a big way so citizens sponsor:
Civic structures
Gardens
Trainers
Mission Terminals
The acknowledgement for gardens and civic structures is in the Tourist Office with a garden description and the sponsor's name.
The trainers and gardens sponsor names are only listed on the holosite.
EVENTS
In addition we hold city events on a regular basis, the funds of which go to the city.
DONATIONS
People are welcome to make their own donations, but this isn't required to maintain a healthy treasury.
To maintain this, see the Treasury tool link in my signaure.

Oh! That Inet map is awesome!! How do you do that?
Thank you very much, but you'll have to ask one of our citizens about how he did it. As he told us he modeled every building typ in 3dMax or some simulare CAD program - pasted the structures together accordung to a 2d map I did and did a screenshot of it ... then he did "a little" flash programming (he's learning Inet presentations and is into 3d modeling - so it came somewhat naturally). He's a young german ... don't know if he frequents these boads or not, but his ingame name on Gorath is "kebb" if you're interested to learn more.
On putting up a sign with the name of the citizen who donated the garden - I wouldn't know how it is possible to put up a sign on a garden - since all /commands are disabled I don't even think a merchant could try and fool the game in puting up a merchant sign ... The only places you could see something is the overhead map (and there you only see "Rebel" for example, if the mayor was a rebel while he put the garden down) or maybe IF you click on the sturucter terminal ... but if an architect named the garden after the citizen I'm not even sure it would stand there ... I only know the sturcuter will surely rename itself to the default name ("Garden X") after being redeeded.
Give it 2 weeks till we have a shuttle, then have a look and you'll change your mind...maybe.
