I mean, its only fair right? Why can PAs be run any any joe on the street with any skills while to effectively run a city requires you to screw your character up to the point of uselessness?

Ok, so organizing a group of friends to sit around in a big bar (PA hall) that you own requires public speaking skills how? We are politicians we actually do something unique if elected mayor. What do we PA leaders get to do that's unique? Live in a large underfurnished home, use a chatchannel, create "ranks" (if your a structured guild) and have a little tag by our name. Whoo, boy that is so much better then being able to collect taxes or clone.

Communication, structure, organization, identifications, ability to actually remove people from the community- hey, those would be darn nice features for a mayor to have too! So by your logic, we should just get those for free?

There are plenty of macro's that allow you to create/join a chat channel (communication) as soon as you enter the game so we do get that for free, some of us use it and others let their citizens be.

Anyone can get a PA hall structure you simply need 5 other characters willing to join your PA in order to keep the home, or be a part of a guild in order to place an "embassy" hall, however this does not come free for us PA leaders either, the limit to lots and high maintenance fee is quite a price to pay simply to have a bigass building (if that is the only reason you want to be a PA).

The identification tags are actually being debated on the PA forum if we should be given the option to toggle them off or on so that actually has a chance of becoming moot, however I agree I would love to see Mayor of Kazadum appear under my name and even have Citizen of Kazadum in my /examine window (both of which could be implemented they just need to be asked for and received gladly).

And you can remove people from the city just ask them nicely or hike up taxes to the max and reimburse everyone else. Sure it is a bit of a pain but they are paying to be in your town not the other way around so I don't see why we should have the power to expell them on a whim. It would be nice if /ban was more effective in getting the point across that we don't want you however that is neither here nor there.

There you go, now tell me another reasonwhy I should give up rifleman in order to be mayor of a cityand the head of a PA?

Because being a PA leader gives you unique abilities to facilitate player organizations and communications. This is the only situation in the game that gives an individual that kind of unique power without requiring them to make character template sacrifices.

I think that would be BS, since the PA leader gives up 9 lots for the PA hall.

exactly what i came in here to post...

mayors use skill credits, PA leaders use 9 of their available 10 lots on the hall. they pay enough as it is... then there are those that are PA leaders as well as mayors. would ahve have them use 200 skill credits to master 2 trees for this?

i dont think so.

Got a chuckle out of this...

I think the most effective PA Leaders are not just 'any joe on the street', but someone who actually leads a group of friends to enhance their game play. PA Leaders in this game have very little power other than to grant someone a title and give their friends guild chat.

On the other hand, if you feel that running a city screws your character up to the point of being useless, then perhaps the calling of mayor is not for you.

And don't forget that some PAs don't choose to structure themselves with the typical leader and rank system junk. My friends and I found someone to sacrifice their lots and technically be the leader... but we're an autonomous collective.

This is simply incorrect though. The leader does not have to be the one that gives up the lots - anyone can host the hall and then you can appoint a separate person as the leader. For a mayor, there is no way to transfer the skill credit cost to someone else - you are always going to pay.

I think we all know that the vast majority of what makes you a successful leader - either for a PA or a city is the person behind the keyboard, it has nothing to do with the in game experience granted and how many skill boxes you have filled.

Arrya,

You have some good posts but this is not one of them.

There are no game mechanic advantages to being in a PA. Yes the organization advantages are tremendous, but there is nothing in the game mechanics that is a benefit. Being a PA is actually a burden, you have to pay the PA hall maintenance and someone has to give up 9 lots. You get Guild Chat, but you could set up a chat channel if you wanted. What else does a PA get in game?

What game play or skills would you give a PA leader? Are you trying to argue that only politicians should be PA leaders?

Just because our game play is hosed right now, doesn't mean we should go and try and mess something else up. We knew what we were getting into when we became politicians. Hopefully, they will fix it, but your idea is ludicrous.

You too? I'm the "leader" of mine and gave just about every member in the PA every power grantable outside of renaming the PA (no practical jokes that I don't make). It's just funner that way to me, and since we aren't really that big it works out for the best.

One of the worst ideasI have read so far.
