Thread: Medium Naboos
However, post 19 you can not place right next to each other.
I'm now finding out that the footprint changed, but the system was allowing for overlaps for houses that were already placed. When I checked this on TC, the footprint did not appear to have changed from the 3x4 because of this overlap. They were still placed against each other, but you could easily drive through the middle of them.
I saw this mentioned in the Cities and Housing forum, though, and went to Naboo to take a check with a medium house on my live server. Sure enough, the footprint on it has changed to 5x6. The planet of Naboo got brought down for maintenance on my server, so I have a feeling this has caused some serious issues.

Yeah I was the one who posted the issue this morning. Theyve added a buffer layer around the entire structure for new placements. However for existing placements what they've done is to add a 2x layer in one direction to make up for the fact that its flush against another structure, most often another medium naboo. Basically this means that if youve planned out a medium naboo area in your city but are missing a few houses in that zone, you wont ever be able to fill those houses because the double overlap prevents you from even substituting a small in its place. So... if you ever wanted to complete that zone you'd have no choice but to completely tear down every single existing medium naboo. Obviously this is very upsetting to me as a mayor and knowing all the thoughts Ive put into urban planning has gone completely down the tubes. All they needed to do was change it to 4x4 and recenter it. This would have allowed for back to back placement but would have prohibited side by side placement which was the supposed issue in the first place.
I can not fully express just how upset I am about this. Perhpas I misread, but I was under the impression that this was not the way it was working on TC. Khristen, didn't you mention that you had actually placed a new deed on TC to check the footprint? PerhapsI read wrong, perhaps this simply went to live different from TC. Bottom line is that now many of us find our selves with cities that will never be able to complete planned construction processes due to lack of communication from the developers. Why could this not have been made clear as to being the way it would be implemented? At the very least we would have had some time to make ahjustments. Not much, but some. Instead I personally find myself with a new project that was going ahead full steam after checking on here and getting reassured that this would not be the way changes would go, now it total shambles.
Ican excuseunforeseen bugs, I canexcuse unintended side-effects to an extent, but there is simply no excuse for basic lack of communication.
Not being a regular TC player, I'm not really set up well there. I'm not an architect there, so I couldn't build one, and had 0 luck finding one to buy. What I *did* do was use a small house deed to look at the placing screen. The existing medium Naboo houses *looked* like the same footprint, but looks were deceiving because they allowed those already placed houses to overlap their footprints with surrounding structures. There was a distinct difference in the ability to fly through the "joint" of the houses, which is what I thought the goal of the change was.
I'll add this to the correspondent bug list as an issue, but since it's not actually a bug (rather it is a poorly worded patch note) I'm not sure how far it will go. It seems like they could have achieved the same goal by shrinking the shell artwork on the existing footprint rather that altering the footprint itself. Those affected may wish to post on the Publish 19 issues thread in the In-Live forum, too.

As the mayor for the first city on my server, I am EXTREMELY angry about this. I am contemplating the worth of revenge against the devs (for ruining 2 years of work) with the risk of jail.

Player housing/cities have recieved no "love" in such a long time... and then we get this. It's not like it's a major problem or ever has been.
Did anyone ever actually see this as a bug?! And they couldn't fix the real bugs like chat tabs (I wont even mention CH) and the massive amount of quest bugs that are really annoying people.
Khristen m8, get out there and kick some devs
I feel your pain. Nice design btw. We have alot of Medium Naboos stacked side by side and back to back. We are really upset since the footprint increase looks more like a last ditch effort to make the fix work before going live. The bad part is because it's because somebody doesn't pull his overlay map to find their way out of a walled area or because they want our customized cities to be open to everyone.

This is what our city looks like. Now I am unable to fill in gaps. We are ruined.
Thanks
