for the past month, there has been a harvest field (cross server lot exchange i think) just outside of at the time out rank 1, over a week ago we went to rank 2 (ya us ) and the harvestors are now w/i our city limits, and are stopping our growth.
the question i have, is if i max out the property tax , woudl that be considered griefing to that harvestor field that is immoble. ?
(side note: i have been given admin to all the structures from our citizens to reinbusrt the property tax cost )

I don't believe so though it may irritate the residents of your city.

I can't see it being too much of a problem. At the very worst you get some more money for your city and the harvestors stay, at best they'll smoke and disappear.
If it was me I would do it and wouldn't feel on iota of regret.

go for it - make the harvesting economically unviable and they'll move :-)

Usually you cannot ascertain the owner unless they have put it on the name of the harvester. If you can't contact the owner(s) then I'd say bump the taxes up, but I would reimburse the actual citizens the cash that they are taxed for their property so there will need to be some coordination with your citizens.

I wouldnt consider it a grief for the persons you are targeting. I would consider it a grief for the mayor though. As you will have to redistribute the cash to your residents -- which -- if you have a large city --- is a LOT of work. I know for myself that my time as Mayor is already chock full of rich tasty goodness, and taking the time to calculate and redistribute the overpayment of taxes to the citizens of the city would be a huge effort.
I applaud your creative thinking though. This is one way to deal with the problem that I hadnt thought of. Right now, I just place a statue with an appropriate message by offending harvestors within the city limits.
I have a question for my fellow mayors....do you have a rule regarding harvestors within city limits? I didnt, but do now. When a 1000OC resource pops right in the center of town I am willing to let people place harv's for hte duration, but the criterion is very simple. The resource has to be of 1000OC or 980+ for any other of the qualities. They also have to put the owners name in the harvestor name. What do you do? If anything?
Cheers!

Maybe it would help to talk to the one who uses the harvestors. He wouldn't get the mails about the property tax etc.

we generally don't allow harvesters in the main developed area of town, but i'll let people i trust harvest good spawns on the backsides of houses, or on the cities edge. I don't set a stat limit, sometimes it may just be a rare resource. I also don't let just anyone toss up a harvester, though, because i can't be sure they'll take them down.

Howdy
How many harvesters are you talking about???? If it is just a few then how are stopping your growth......If you cant find the owner then torch em with high taxes.
Regarding Harvesters in cities...when I was in office I wouldnt allow them. On a few occassions a harvester or two would appear in town. What was really strange though when they did show up in town I always "mysteriously" had a nice "donation" of credits to my campaign fund....

This tatic has been used for a while to get rid of unwanted structures. Infact they do the same thing in real life. I would try to contact the owner... you should of gotten an email with the owners of all your structures that became part of your city when you expanded.

i dont condone cross server trading but , if the harvest field was there first its totally grieving.. its the exact same thing everyone else is complaining about .. using politic warfare to force others out .. it needs to be stopped ..

this individual has over 50 heavy harvestors that he placed in the NW to NE area of the city. and when he placed the harvs down, he placed them Right on the outpost boarder,( we are now a Township). So saying im griefing him, i wouldnt see it that way. But i just wanted to get a official /semi-official response.
Im just waiting for 1 final citizen to grant admin to me, then i will be jacking up the property tax, and going around reibursting the citizens structures.

As Mayor of a city you will receive an email with the player's name each time the city borders expand to include placed harvester. You can email the person and simply ask them to move the harvesters. I did this in my city and people were willing to move the harvesters.
