Understand, Brians do not want to nerf mayor. The point being made is that incumbent mayors all over the galaxy are keeping votes from players whos accounts have lapsed or are suspended meaning that they cannot be reached to convince them to vote for a new mayor. The Hijacking is a tangental issue (but a very real problem among player cities) that illustrates the problems with the current SOE policy.

I know that none of you honestly believe that inactive or lapsed account votes should count. Someone who isn't even paying for the game anymore should not be able to affect a mayoral election especially if they can't even log in to vote.

The voting booth idea is a good idea, but it does not fix the problem presented in the above thread. The only thing it will prevent is mayors who have covered voting booths to prevent voting (which does need attention).

please read both part B of my idea and not just A. I would not have itemized the idea if it was only one part. Skimming a post and calling it invalid is not fair to anyone.

Man, its not invalid at all, and I didn't skim your post. Just saying that "Brians want to nerf us" is inaccurate.

Very defensive. I like your idea, ok? it just doesn't solve the specific problem, that's all...

I am not defensive about the nerf. I am defensive about you ont reading B and only reading A and saying that together they do not solve the problem. Thats all. If your ead the post you would not say that removing incumbants does not help remove a mayor from his bunker...

Actually I was responding that incumbent votes are vital for incumbent mayors to keep thier positions at all (lest a small group of people un-elect a mayor of a metropolis). If everyone were required to log in to vote, that would harm the mayors more than help them. No, incumbent votes as default is a good system. The problem is when there are votes being counted that should not be. That was the point. I am not disagreeing with you. I think we're addressing two seperate (important) problems.

well, it seems kinda silly really... what the mayor is griefing (therefore the citizens can alert a csr), and citizens can't be citybanned.... *shrug*

some people do want to "nerf" us, as apparently with the 1-starring... or maybe someone just hate me enough to 1-star the forum too. oh well...

So you do or don't agree that the fact that mayors get votes from deactivated accounts is right? Is the system working as intended? We did alert a CSR, that is how we have the official word from SOE. We, in fact, had a minimum of 3 CSRs working on our problem for about 48 hours. They were quite friendly and wanted to help, but SOE policy tied their hands (thier words).

We were just wondering what you, the politician correspondent, had to say about this issue. If all you have to say is "you all want to nerf us,"well that is just not true. No one is talking about taking anything away from the politicians, we are talking about fixing the system or coming up with a policy solution to keep this type of thing from happening.

personally, I don't think it's right for deactivated accounts to count as votes. actually, I don't think inactive citizens should count either, however they need to rework the way politicians get xp. politician xp should require active votes, but it should take a lot less votes for each skill level. politician should be an active process. perhaps there could be other more restrictive ways to earn politician xp, such as diplomatic missions, or city management.

I wasn't the one who said "they all want to nerf us", I just said "some people want us nerfed" because of a few bad apples that use player cities to grief people. most people I know would like to see player cities to be a larger part of the game, but I'm having trouble grabbing attention. most people are affected by player cities, but not enough of them care enough to speak up and help us get fixed.

I'm trying hard... but without communication and discussion, this is just damn near impossible. it's frustrating to say the least... and the attitude of some folks in this forum doesn't help. I know we have bugs, loop holes in game play, etc... trust me, I know. I have a few current or ex mayor corrs helping me out, but politician is not a popular profession. I just wish things were different
