From test server

* Citizens will now be removed from a city if they haven't been online for about 3 weeks.

This will basically mean a city on poor terrain will have its citizens removed and as a result its level revoked.

A level 5 city with 85 citizens could loose 50% in many cases on radiant I know and be shifted down to a level 3 wich means loss of everything worth having in a city.

And mind you only the citizenship is removed not the citizens house, effectivly meaning no more room for new citizens in a lot of cases and a death to that area for city use.

This will affect a lot of cities on all servers and all planets,it willcause chaos and destroy alot of hard work and effort by alot of people.

If their houses are still paid for leave them alone.

This is not fixing anything the ghost town issue can only be fixed by making this game so enjoyable they will want to return and fixing the city structures like hospitals/cantinas so that people will want to use them.

PLEASE DO NOT IMPLEMENT THIS SYSTEM !!

I totally agree. My city was just put up and SOE doesn't seem to realize that some people have school that they have to attend rather than the game. They pay for the account.... they put maint into the house... why revoke citizenship? If I have citizenship in the US and take a year to travel around the world my citizenship isnt revoked! Boourns said Homer simpson... I have to say the same. B-O-O-U-R-N-S.

I understand you guys 'll do whatever you can to free up some precious database space, but this would seriously ruin the fun and efforts of so many people.

This isnt right at all most people who havent logged on are away for school. And for what will you do this for to free up space.. this is a crock we have worked long and hard on this cityadn as many others have worked on their city and your gonna take it away from us.. I plead that you dont do this and rethink what your doing to ones who have worked hard are trying to use the enconomy of the game as you would have it done but to bump us down three notches on the city belt would mean death for our city not.. Not sure about the other cities but i can bet it would do the same to them..

I dorecognize the problem from a game design point of view: The extreme example would be one active player running a state of the art top notch city alone, which you all must recognize IS kinda unwanted.

However SOE's solution to this is problematic:

1. What's gonna happen when a city no longer has enough population to support certain buildings? Is the building gonna be scrapped or can the city still keep the building?

2. What's gonna happen with the denounced citizen's house?

Ifhousesare not removed, problem is what Scape said: towns wont have room for expansion by newcomers.

If the houses ARE removed, it will seriously damage inactive players' incentive to reactivate their account andplay SWG again.

This problem would be solved if SWG didnt have the current money problem. There's no money sink, which results in players being able to support a lot by themselves. If echonomy was better planned from the start, atown with low active player count wouldnt be able to support thebuildings, and SOE wouldn't have to implement this type of artificial control with player cities.

Conclusion:

Fix echonomy so that cities losing active population willbe forced echonomically to downgrade their city

Couldnt find "Edit" button

I'd like to point to this thread which I think explains the echonomy issue

Another great idea by the Devs to work out more database issues... compromise the customers and the game rather than fix something. Good work.

Playing devil's advocate here, but what about the player cities that ARE actually busy and occupied all the time but can't expand because of the planetary city cap ?

Would you rather see occupied cities relegated to lower level status because of an empty city being run by a handful of guys ?

Thats not the pimary issue here the issue is this, they remove the citizenship not the house disallowing the city from getting new citizens cause of limited space and crappy terrain for the most part on planets like correllia. Also its easy to see another effect what if the inactive 40 players in a 100 citizen city occupy the inner circle of the city like the core of the city closest to city hall if the city first jumps from level 4 to 3 it would then just keep jumping down as the ever closing distance to city hall would be filled with inactive accounts until eventually the city hall poofs. How is that fair ?!?

Add to that the city griefing will explode people will aggressivly go for the lesser cities and vote out people all round this is the single dumbest least thought out proposal ive seen from a dev ever.

/sign. There needs to be some way of managing how many large cities are around, but this is NOT it. This issue really needs to be thought out and discussed with the player community, not have some random thought thrown out at whim.

I can guarantee a lot of people will leave over this issue alone.

You cant seriessly mean that this will do enything other than make the game loose even more players ?

I mean that as long as people pay for there accounts they should be able to take a 1,5 mounth vecation without there entier city paying for it ? Im a old AO player but i also Played Planetarion for 6 years, This is not as bad as Planetarion but it works the same way I CAN NOT beexpected to have to log in every now and then just to keep my Character and the city status active ? (whats next ? Log in every week or you need to pay a ingame tax of 15% of your money ?) I pay for this game and i acspect to be able to play it whenever i want and how often i want without loosing enything as long as I pay for it.

Please dont destroy this game for me...................................
