Thread: For those that hit caps during phase 2 of city release be warned.
Dude, there are only a certain number of slots - you knew this when you made your city.
No one promised you a particular level and the other city may have beaten you legitimately.
This is not an issue for our profession - it is an issue for you and the CSRs.
I am not sure I follow you, sure they could have updated before us legitimately but then again they may not have either.
Unless I am wrong seeing threads here about cities not levelling and needed a jumpstart by a CSR rep. This is an important issue, and unlike some of you we didnt make the first publish and yes we knew that the cap system went in but we werent expecting a lvl cap on top of that. When it was announced what do you expect people like us to do ? Move 50 + people to some crap spot because others built their town 2km from a NPC city?
And I can tell with a metropolis on tat that your more than likely were a first batch town and so dont expect any understanding of this issue from you.
vonblood , my last post was to the one before yours, you just kinda slipped it in.
And if I had trust in the CSR system I would agree, but you would be amazed at4 of the responses I have gotten from them.
A friend lost their character, I mean it got deleted and, CSRs dont even inviestigate its just a I am sorry there is nothing we can do response.
Sure I am stubborn but this game has tons of bugs, hell half the time I cant grant zoning rights as mayor, so I am going to expect the levelling works perfectly? If the first email response came back and said city so and so levelled @ such and such time therefore you did hit a cap again, I woulda been satisfied, but 3 days later I cant even get that just different stories from them and 2 tkts stating please file bug report if this is a bug.
So I have 1 working as intended and another sorry this bug occured.
BTW Von,
We did move 1 time, we all started originally in corellia for release but after a month or so we rebuilt and moved to naboo, that was with fully decorated homes and no mounts or vehicles and moved to a spot 8km from any NPC town (which is why we didnt make first pass as takes 20 minutes to get there by foot), So I do know the pains and while now we have vehicles , I dont look forwarded to starting all over. We have a nice area and was placed before alot of areas went up. Maybe with SE and new planets we may move, but everything atm is picked clean.
"Dude, there are only a certain number of slots - you knew this when you made your city."
Only half true. When the devs said there would be caps, it was two days before city release: most of the preparation work had been done already. I told then that first come, first serve was goign to have long time repercussions. These time of update problems are one of them. To upgrade you have to have one demoted city, AND have no other city upgrade before you. Plainly, it more borders on luck than planning to upgrade now.
Good thing my city is on Talus and I'm not concerned with caps for now...We had to move from Naboo because of the first batch of caps (ie, we tried to put our hall 15 mn after server up and too late already) and another hit would likely have my city disappear from quitting citizens.
the other city dropped down, because they lost their shuttle ability. They did their update with the missing citizens and dropped, we went to confirm after noticing they were missing from planet map as a shuttleport.
Funny tho as the town is still in the travel terminal tho so I can speculate their are update type bugs.
And we do know pretty much every city, least the ones that show up on map, some are towns and others villages. We will eventually know who updated when their loc is luisted under the shuttle display and have no intention of griefing anyone. I just would like from CSR a time frame of when they did update to see if indeed it was after ours. Chances are after patch we will get shuttle as alot of cities are ghost towns and good chance they are using citizens no longer playing and with the 3 wk limit, their maybe a few to downgrade.
Its just a matter of verifying if indeed someone updated before us as we are still sorta remote and it irks most of our town that a few that had shuttle just were dropped anywhere with 10 houses on day one of first city patch and we have been rdy to go since a month or so after release. Its sorta like early settlers driving in wagons across the US to build in california only to be told that too many towns exist on the east coast to be able to build this far out. It maybe a minor point to some but its been a thorn to us for awhile.
And in answer to your question, yes - we were in the first released because we developed our strategy well in advanced, had a project plan worked out to military precision and placed our city right in the middle of Tatooine in the first 10.
However, that doesn't mean that I don't sympathise with people who didn't make it - I saw many of the early cities grow using exploits and ghost citizens, denying people like you a chance to build good cities.
BUT, this is now being addressed - it all takes a little patience. Some earlycities will fall - especially when their ghost citizens are driven out by the imminent changes. Some 'politicians' are already bored and will just give-up - giving you a chance.
More importantly, this is a PROFESSION just like any other - there was nothing stopping you going to an existing city and using POLITICS to try and take that city over. I have always welcomed people wanting to run against me, although in each case the underestimated the relish with which I would defend my job.
If we had not made the first release, I would not have sat around moaning and whining - I would have found another city, got myself in there and demonstrated why I would make a better mayor... This is politics after all!
Yours,
I am glad the CSR's have such a stout defender, and I congratulate you on your success in getting your city within 10 minutes of playing time, and of your successful dealings with CSR's.
Altho we stayed up all night for the patch, we had a city ready to be built within 2 minutes of server going up. But since we chose a spot 9k+ it took over 15 minutes to get there, and even then I may have had a chance but due to a server crash and resetting my char back to the starting city, it took well over 30 to get there.
And its funny, because last night we actually had a CSR response that basically said they have no tools to actually tell how many lvl 4 cities are currently in, they get a report that says a city updated to lvl 4 but they have no clue which planet this applied to. In other words they dont KNOW if our planet even has 10 lvl 4 cities, and as of yet no one has dropped a shuttlepad which is strange as many wait for this update, and yes its possible the mayor is away to drop it, but its also possible that their wasnt anyone who updated.
I am not whining but I am stating that the system doesnt always work as intended and how can anyone tell if they been passed over if even CSR's cant prove anything, plus the fact it has taken over 5 csr tkts before this was even explained.
This is so similiar to when we used to have our vendor eat items back in the day and after 6 csr tkts all of which the previous ones acted like it was a bug, we finally got a tech to admit items in storeroom were deleted after x amount of days which none of us knew.
And I am so tired of people that dropped their towns in the first pass call anyone afterwards whiners/complainers when you think it was such great planning that allowed this to happen, when really it has no basis of who planned well just whohad their towns relatively close to existing shuttles at the time.
