Thread: Galactic Senate Proposal
The City of Southern Citadel on the Valcyn galaxy would like the opportunity to be the setting of the Galactic Senate.
This would involve having all mayors from all cities on all galaxies apart from Valcyn joining a PA on our server.
I would like to nominate our Politician correspondent Bajeezus to run this PA.
What is the point of this idea?
It would give politicians a place to go to get instant answers to their questions and the ability to fully interact with other mayors and have conversations, which are not possible on a forum.
As a politician myself I know that after 30 minutes there is nothing left for me to do in my city so having another character on another server I could log on and play would be great. Having all the people around me on that server also be politicians would be a bonus.
It would also give developers a chance to pop in and hold a dev chat with all politicians any time they felt the need.
Is there a website?
No there isn’t. If somebody would like to create one then great. There is a lot of info a website could keep track of. I personally would like to see how populations in cities change over time as well as costs for running them.
So what’s in the for Southern Citadel?
Well for us the obvious benefit will be citizens. We currently have over 90 but the inactivity rule will hurt everyone so having mayors of other cities in our city it gives us a great chance to expand and survive because Mayors I believe are the least likely to not log on for 6 weeks.
How will I know who is or is not a mayor?
Well I’m hoping the developers would allow you to create a character based on your city and galaxy name. So if I created a character it would be called SouthernCitadel Valcyn.
What happens if a mayor gets booted and a new mayor wants to join the senate?
Well all it would take is a CSR going in and changing that person’s name and that would allow the new mayor to take on the cities name. It would be up to Bajeezus to boot the old mayor our of the PA to keep the senates integrity.
I still don’t see the point can you please explain it again?
Well half the fun of a MMORPG is your ability to role-play certain things. The galactic senate I am sure is something a lot of politicians wanted to have as part of the current game mechanics. Just to give them that little bit extra to do and have fun with.
You need to forget the fact you are joining another server and creating another character and close your eyes and think that you have flown a ship across the galaxy to some planet where a large meeting of political leaders is underway.
The fun is in the designing of this city area and the roleplaying of your characters within its environment. I will be happy to give it as many houses and gardens and fountains and streetlights as it takes to give it that look of Importance. Its just a matter of wether you as a politician can find it just as useful as I think it will be. As I said above after about 30 minutes your role on your main server is over so whats it going to hurt to try something like this and see if we can turn it into a fun activity for us all over time.
If i get 20 people interested in trying it out ill start getting the houses and other things made. Hmm maybe we should have a PA HALL to represent each planet of each galaxy? Hmm maybe there are 100 ideas we can talk about for its design? Hmm maybe this will be a lot of fun 
)
Hehe maybe we will need two cities of rank 5 to hold everyone )

Hi thx for the bump.
However after further thought I realized this idea willnot get off the ground at the moment. With 10 cities minimum per planet and 20 servers the amount of mayors would be well over 200. Theres no way to fit all their houses in one city unless it was built only for mayors. Maybe if we wait a month or two for the inactivity rule to destroy half the current cities out there this idea will become a little more possible.
Either that or the devs would have to place a city on some planet on some galaxy and dedicate it to the senate.
Its a very fun idea to get a place for all the mayors to get together. Would there by any interest in doing this on TC, where we'd get a first look at new features and where the devs are constantly trying to lure new testers?
TC seems to be a nice, neutral server where no one would already have a character or a city to interfere with this Senate proposal. What do you think?
Excellent idea.
However, create just one planet, one city, on a galaxy far far away (no friggin gubbers).
The 'Senate Members' would have a predesignated/pregenerated residence in this 'place' when their citybecame ametropolis and accessible when the mayor became a master politician. We would also have a booth in the forum or gathering place for the sessions. The devs could role-play the senators bringing up the issues that affect us all and we could have votes and voice our opinions. Do you think it would be too much to ask to be able to at least incap the devs at these sessions?
Outside of sessions we could role-play and intermingle and form alliances and make fun of each other.
We could designate two other individuals to attend with us.
Travel would be in the normal fashion with the exception that we would have to travel to Theed to catch the short shuttle.
If this doesn't work for you then I vote Caritas as the site for the Galactic Senate =)

One of the problemswith test center would be the constant down time and patching.
The benefit would be that the devs may break some rules to allow us to build it up. For example take away 80% of the costs of running the city because where as I may have 10 mill in the bank on Valcyn as well as a Master Architect/Master Politicianto build it out of my own cash if we go to test center nobody would have anything and it would take us months even to get to master politician for our borders to fit everyone in.
The devs would need to let us start at level 5 and somehow make you a Master politician Architect overnight so you can start building all these houses on test center. No easy job.
I do like the idea of making it a master politician entery only town it would save space and time and stop all the politicians who dont care about the class and dumped the skills. They could even add that to the skill box of the master politician, Hmm would it be possible to have a master politician go to a space port and see the option to go to the senate? Only he would see the option for traveling to Senate. That then would copy his character across to test center and make it feel like he did simply travel there. Hmmm this is sounding good. Hate things that sound good because they dont always end good hehe.
Umm please explain?

What about houses and cost and so on hehe. Im a politician by nature so I need to see the fine print. )
