currently there's no way to remove citizens (I can understand why it isn't in game, since it can be used to grief. a mayor can just remove all the citizens that plan on not voting for him.) although I would like to see a way for citizens to be warned, or if citizens can be removed (and cannot be reinstated) by majority vote in the city.

I've been in similar situations... there's nothing much you can do

Yeah, that sure would be nice...

I like the idea of a warning..
I have read in other threads the idea of the warning granting the citizen one or two weeks to move before there house poofs.
That would be fair I think...

I don't see what removing his citizenship will do for you...

-He'll still be able to visit town, still be able to talk and follow you, still run a vendor from his house.

What are you really asking for? to make him remove his house and never be able to enter the town limits?

well, technically you can't cityban a citizen (never tried, so i can't confirm it), so i'm guessing that's what he wants to do.

You could deny his zoming rights, take him off any admin lists (guild hall, etc) and then hope he screws up and house blows up. At least than he won't be able to rebuild. Other than that, I can only say that you should get everyone to /addignore him LOL

I had a problem with this recently. A citizen and guild member had been reported to be harrasing other guild members and so we removed him. Unforuntaly he still had his house within town. He therefore took it upon himself to rename his house to somthing that was derogatory to both the guild and more directly at me (including my name). After reporting this to the CSR's twice we still got the same answer from them that they could do nothing about it (and that it didn't break the housing name code - which it definately did - calling me a facist.) It took a very long (quoting SOE policy) ticket to get a CSR even to change the name of the house.

It appears that it is more or less impossible to get a house removed from your town without it either being removed by the owner, or running out of maintence. Even if the person is harrasing other players in your town there is just nothing we can do apart from add ignore.

Although it seems unfair that we cannot in some way city kick. I clearly see what problems we would face with (a select few)mayor's griefing other players with it. I truly hope that some solution comes to the mayor's current problem of having no 'control' over their town's citizens and laws. Especially seeing as a citizens of the town cannot be citybanned.

Nope, can't cityban a citizen. I had a citizen volunteered to be my guinea pig for this experiment.

I had a similar problem with a squatter who set down his house when the city was still young.
He would change his house name to berate the city, guilds ect... Run vendors from his house against city policy, and was a general nuisance.

What I did was basically set a row of statues in front of his house. Not to block entry, but just to cover it up. Each statue was named in honor of this persons shortcomings Needless to say, he moved a short time later.

We Have a Citizen that bought a second account, applied to a Imperial Guild AS an Imperial, then got zoning rights for second character. He used the 24 hour period to grind his way to Rebel, and then laid a Rebel Medical center in the middle of town. The guy must have spent 2-3 weeks as a recruit. Now, our prosperous Imperial Town Can't get rid of the dang thing.

I usually have myself or a member of the militia oversee structure placement, and immediately revoke zoning rights unless it's someone I know I can trust absolutely (ie I know where to hunt them down if things go wrong) If you have an active militia that might be a possible prevention step you can take.

While I haven't experienced this problem first hand, I can try to add my two credits.

From what I've seen, the turnover rate of even the good citizens is so high, that it's best to just ride out the wave. Don't give this troublesome person any attention, because this is what they want. Add them to the ignore list and send out mail to your other citizens to do the same.

I am defining "troublesome person" as someone who generally disrupts the majority or entire town. This isn't defined as someone who just personally rubs the mayor the wrong way. As your city grows, you can't expect to get along with everyone mightily.

Take the high road whenever possible, and always keep the best interest of your citizens in mind. It's your responsibility. If we, as a politician community, can prove ourselves to be a mature and sensible lot, the developers may look kindly and grant to us powers to be used responsibly against the true "troublesome persons" out there.

Otherwise, are we not troublesome ourselves?

As long as this is really not used to grief by blocking access or by bad names on statues this seems the best way to deal with such individuals.
