Our city, Tusken's Bane on Chilastra,is having the same issue.

Theorginal mayor, Ichiir, wants to resign because he can no longer spend the time it takes to be a proper mayor. Ichiir has picked a person to succeed him (Goda)and has sent out multiple emails to all of our residents asking them to vote for the new mayor, but we can never get him enough votes.

It's not like Goda isn't wanted as mayor, everyone likes him and approve of the change but it's been impossible to get everyone to go the voting booth within the one week time limit. Since our city is a metropolis, it's not easy to just have people move in to sway the vote. Goda needs 45 votes to win, and he only has 20 right now. This has been going on for over a month now trying to geteveryone to vote for him.

This is a big problem for us because if Ichiir doesn't login to do maintenance our city could be destroyed.

An idea to fix thiswould be to make it so thatif the incumbant voted for another candidate, that candidate would automatically get all the incumbant votes.

Imagine if it took 51% of the U.S. population to vote for a new president! Washington would probably still be president and still dead!

The devs simply do not think!!!

I like the autovoting system, i makes sure i get the xp i should get

However, we did have this exact problem when i was supposed to take over as mayor, and only after numorous emails and various reminders did we succeed.
I totally agree with you all when you request an option from the terminal to resign, and think it should be implemented pronto

But dont be too hard on the devs, i'm pretty sure it's not an easy job, averyone wanting alot of stuff all the time

After being mayor forever in our city, he wants to resign and use the skill points for other things. I'd be happy to take over. The problem is that it would be very difficult to get 51% of our population to vote for a new mayor...actually return to the city and vote. So how do we change our mayor?

Any idea?

Thanks!

I've had the same problem in Sandstorm City, Tatooine on the starsider server. Our mayor went Awol.. and things needed to be done. What we did was I had a friend that was a master merchant. In the most prominent places in the town, he put a vendor that shouted, "Vote for Alasrii! Our town needs a new mayor! She only needs ** new votes! Send in your vote now!" That and contacting all the guilds in town.. *giggles* and having the militia jump on people when they see them for them to vote.. It all happened in a week. Everyone loves Alasrii as mayor and she does the best she can for the town now. If you jump in it like this.. it makes the town feel more like a community.

Our city went thru the same delima. It was even more difficult for us as half the populations left when the old mayor left. And, without removing their houses or revoking residency.

You need to get the names of every citizen from the citizenship list in the City Terminal. Add them to your friends list. Email them, /tell them when you see them online. Since it doesn't appear that you lost any citizens, it should be just a matter of prompting them to vote each week until the old mayor is voted out.

To increase your odds, also try recruiting a few more citizens.

Good Luck.

Changing guild leader is somewhat easier than changing mayor. But the process is the same, you vote. On the guild terminal, you select the person you want to be leader and "show your support for him" or something like that when you choose him. Again you need 51% of the votes. We were able to do this by kicking everyone who was not online at the moment out of the guild for a day or two so that those who were could vote (at least 51%) then added everyone back in.

Rogue in the Flurry galaxy is having the same problem. I had to contact each citizen one by one to get the votes I needed to get elected, and I'm still 3 votes shy.

We have a similar problem.

Our Mayor is quitting and hasn't logged in for ages, he is also guild leader. If we do manage to elect a new mayor we he/she automatically take over the guild leader position too?

If we need our current leader to log in to hand over to someone else we could be screwed.

my election took a few tries, including mails, bribes, and a guild chat macro

people hate spam enough at starports, they will almost certainly come vote to get it out of guild chat.
