Hi all,
As the subject heading explains; I need help to rescue a dying town.
Very briefly, here is the story so far. I was invited to become a residence in a new town. At that point, we had a town hall, mission terminals, a cantina, spaceport, medical centreetc. The mayor left, and was taken over by someone else. Very quickily, our town fell apart. All we have left is a few small houses and the cantina. The name of our town isnt even on the map any more!!! The mission terms and town hall have gone, with no word from the mayor. I have sent many emails to help our town, but they havent been acknowledged. I recently emailed the old mayor and asked if I could take over the town. He said yes, to go ahead and rescue our town.
This is where you guys come in. I need help to rescue the town. I have started working towards novice politician by teaching fellow players. But I dont know what I should do next........help!!!!

The only thing you can do once you get novice poli is register to run as Mayor yourself, then get as many citizens as possible to vote for you, while bringing in as many new citizens as you can to out-vote the existing mayor. The hard part will be finding a way to zone the incoming citizens. Hope that you can find a sympathetic militia member.
Check the city management terminal for the citizen count, that will give you an idea of how many votes you'll need to get yourself elected.

If the town hall is gone, then the city is dead... you will have to start from scratch (unless someone knows something I dont).
I had a case where the mayor actually took down the city hall on us and then deleted her character...
And we were unable to find a way to fix the problem.

Your highest priority is to get citizens, but make sure they are good people. Newbs are generally the easiest group to get.
You will want to watch your city maint. early on, little or no gardens until you reach a high level of citizens with a balanced tax system.

Thanks for your replies! It looks like I should start from stratch. There are a few houses around in what used to be our city - so it should help me out.
I have just got the Novice Skill, and from reading previous posts my next job is to find an architect (sorry, I cant spell). How do I find one and how much do they cost? What do I do when I get the things i need to rebuild the town?
Please help, because I want to get the town up and running as soon as poss.
Cheers

First (it's not very clear), if there is a City Hall and what is the current population ?
- if you have a City Hall, check the citizenship list from the City Management terminal in the room to the left
- also, from the CityManagementterminal, check when your city update
If there's no City Hall, you just need to place one (as Novice Politian)
If there'sonly a few citizens, (for example15 cits) ask 6 to temporary remove their houses and City Hall will go Poof....next city update. Then, place a City Hall and the cits again and presto - you're the mayor
Or, the more difficult way:
- contact every cit on the citizenship list to vote for you and monitor the number of votes you both have from the voting terminal
- recruit until you have move
Other than that, only votes will move you up the Politician tree.
Good Luck.

No, the city hall went along with our existing mayor
. We only have a cantina, med ctr (i think) and residencial houses. I have now got a town hall being made for me - so it looks like I am getting things together. I was told the population was approx 30, but that seems way too high. Can I send all the citizens an email - even tho the town doesnt exist any more?

There's no function to email them all since without a city actually there, they aren't associated in any way, until you get your city hall down. The people in the vicinity (150m) of the City Hall will automatically be added to the city roster, and as mayor, you will then be able to email them all. But not before the hall is actually down.

Hey, cheer up.....that's a good thing and you have it easy.
Since there is no city hall - there's no city and no incumbent mayor to OUT-VOTE,vote out....whatever...lol
You're gonna be the mayor of your city in no time at all.
Since you already have Novice Politician, just place your City Hall and all those within the radius are now part of your city. You *may want them all to go and vote for you anyway.
Once you're mayor, just use the TO: citizens rather than using the friends option in Ctrl+P......
Get that City Hall down and don't forget once you're mayor - ENABLE ZONING and adda few trusty ppl into militia to help you start.
Good Luck and don't forget to keep us posted.

Here's the update as promised......
I took your advise, and found a friendly achitect. I bought the deeds and have built the Town Hall
Now I have to make sure all the old citizens re-register. If they dont, I do have a back-up plan, but this is where i need your help (again..)
I have bought the deeds for new houses, and should be able to register them - but only in the short term. My question is,what is the minimum number ofregistered citizens do i need after the first 24hrs? is it always 10, or will it reduce?

You ALWAYS need 9 plus yourself = 10, or you lose your City Hall - also, you can't ever redeed a City Hall.
Have a lookat Knowledge Base for City Hall/Player City

If, as you say, there are 30 people in the vicinity, it's possible enough of them were in the radius to automatically be citizens of your town. Anyone who has a DECLARED residence in that radius automatically becomes a citizen....
...at least I'm hoping so - good luck, and hopefully your hall is there when you get home (so long as you are legitimately placing it with the consent of the people, which it does sound like as far as you've said)
