Thread: Dealing with Errant Citizen

We had a citizen go very wrong tonight on our small Rori village. How can a politician take action against one citizen? Can you revoke citizenship? CITYBAN will occur, but I was wondering how one could try to force the errant person out of your particular civil society.

Obliged.

actually, if s/he's a citizen, cityban *won't* occur. cityban cannot be used on citizens, else politicians can just ban all the citizens and prevent them from voting him/her out. there isn't anything you can do in game mechanics-wise to remove the citizen from your city or revoke their citizenship.

if what this person does/did affects the whole city, then have a chat with the rest of your citizens and figure out how you want to handle this.

Yea there is no way to force someone out of a city once they are a citizen. Your only choice is diplomacy. What do you mean by "go very wrong tonight" anyway? Is the person violating game rules or Terms of Service? If so you should get the CSR's involved. If you mean they are just being disagreeable or something then you just have to deal with them.

I have a come accross a few citizens who have given me similar problems and really griefed fellow citizens of our city. I have come up with a great way to not only get this evil person out of your city, but city-ban them in the process. This method requires a little dis-honesty on your part, but sometimes these methods are needed as we mayor's have limited authority.....

Mayor: /tell citizen Hi how are you today? I need a huge favor.

Evil citizen: /tell mayor Hi mayor, what do you want?

Mayor: /tell citizen Hi, im having problems with tranfering structures to other citizens...I think my politician abilities are bugged, could you please try to /transferstructure to me in your house? If this doesnt work im going to write a ticket.

Evil citizen: /tell mayor sure meet me at my house.

After the evil citizen /transferstructure to you, immidiately city ban them and /addignore them. Only use this method after you have discussed it with your city and all are in agreement that this is best for the city. I hope it works for you...It has always worked for me

Ummmm.....would that not be considered griefing, as you are stealing someone's house?

In every city i have ever had, i always provided the house for citizens, even still I would not mind trading the house to the person in exchange for thier not creating an unpleasant environment for the rest of the city. It would only be a grief if i refused to give the house back, and of course any mayor would galdly hand it over.

You must deal with a lot of stupid people living in your city....

I'm no so sure the CSR's wouldn't call that fraud but who knows.

That's really a very borderline suggestion, to me. I've always been of the mind to deal with things rationally and in a mature way, rather than resorting to tricks and harassment, though. I'd rather be the better person than sink to the level of the person I'm dealing with.

Sure, Politicians are often manipulative characters, but when it comes to things like game mechanics that kind of action reflects on the player and not the character.

/Braces for flames

Please keep in mind that I have only done this 2 times in the year or so i have been a mayor. I once had a citizen who named his house to insult other members of our city. And at every city hall meeting he would stand in front of the council seating and spam his shop info. We had made numerous complaints and he was never banned or warned to our knowledge. This went on for 1 month and 6 council meetings. So the city council and i desided to use this tactic to not only discurage him from being a nuissance...but to ban him from city hall. He started this whole sharade because one of the guilds in my city that he was a part of refused to give him a krayt pearl they looted for the cities jedi....he was a noob and had only been playing for a couple of weeks...novice brawler. Sometimes drastic measures are needed, and in the advice i gave in this thread i also mentioned that this should be a city choice, not a mayors alone.

I really don't want to flame you but the bottom line is that lying to a citizen with the intent of removing them from the city against their will is boarderline fraud. I don't know what the policy is on it but I wouldn't engage in it myself as I would fee it was dishonest.

It's not the nicest thing to do but as long as the citizen gets all his items thenthe end justifies the means. The player can move on to the next city with their belongings and the knowledge of not to trust a mayor if they are being a general nuisance.
