Thread: Cities with Faction Bases, Walls, Mazes & Dead Ends
Does anyone know of this actually happening or what the official stance is on structures in cities being places strategically to protect faction bases or turrets?
I've seen people use houses for walls. Never seen mazes or dead ends though. Kind of dumb since you can just memorize the setup.
We had some complainers with our cloning center because we placed a HQ with Dish turretsfacing thefront of the door. We had a CSR visit and he said as long asa person with common sence can leave your city, the setup is fine.
Well, if a person is on a speeder and starts out 1000m away from the "wall", the person might be able to get though it before it renders on his screen.
I don't see why there should be any kind of a problem with this... however a quick fix which I think everyone would think is pretty cool would be to actually have the ability to build actual walls for defensive purposes, however, these wallswould also be able to be destroyed... It would be similar to what was on the battlefields before they went offline for updating... If a city wants to close its walls to visitors, they have that right... However, those being blocked out should also be able to fight their way through... It could set up some pretty cool pvp battles and such... I'd also suggest the walls needing to be 2 or 3 meters beyond the city border, just to even things out a bit so militia members in the stronghold don't just have a picnic with the invading troops. Walls would also require maintenance (not alot) and the possibilities are endless... this would add in a use for shield generators, etc... turrets could be built into walls, there could be gates etc... the possibilities are endless, and I'd imagine the code not being very difficult considering this is all stuff that's already been in the game in battlefields... I'll stop here... laters

Noobian mediums and Corellian/Generics can be butted together to form a "wall" so no it can happen anywhere. If you do it properly it can make your town look like a real burb instead of just a grid-like collection of houses.
The preventative way that it blocks people out of areas is somewhat griefing but a simple solution would be to require 1 of the mediums getting replaced with a small or 2 with a large so you have an alleyway to get by. That is what a CSR should do rather then force large numbers of people to move if the original post is true.
