I wouldn't, but I have the overwhelming support of my citizens.

You'll prolly never get your money.

I'm not sure if denying you access to your vendors can or can't be considered griefing.

At the least, you could ask a csr to destroy your vendor since you don't have access.

I wouldn't, but then at this point in time noone would want my city We are still an outpost however I would feel fine with having an opponent, just as long as he didn't touch my main decorations in order to use the place as a storage shed (the **edit** thing took me forever but it was worth it) and let me stay on the ballot to get the master badge. It is truly childish when someone goes to any lengths to prevent other politicians out of "their" cities but oh well. Just be glad that you only lost monopoly money, a million is a bit much but not too terrible of a loss.

It is all cleared up now, I started a new city on my own, and so far everyone that has logged on, has relocated here ... so it will be interesting to see whats next :}

I have actually had two different challengers for the mayorship of our city. The first one backed out of the race on her own for reasons I am still not real sure of, but that's her choice. The second lost both weeks he tried to run, receiving only 2 votes the first time and 1 the second time. After that, the militia and several citizens ran him out of town. The reason for this was that he was/is one of my server's biggest greifers and the citizens of our city didn't want to have to deal with him any longer.

As for structure banning, I actually never did ban him from any structures in town. If owners of buildings did so, that was of their own accord, and not my influence. I do, however, agree that anything given to a city during its formative stages is a gift and does not necessarily need to be returned/compensated for unless that was agreed upon at the start.

Our city was founded on donations. We started collecting resources long before the coding for cities was in place and then I crafted up all the deeds myself from those donations, including a vast amount of my own resources. If I left, I would leave, that's that, and the city could keep that stuff. I would just hope they would take care of it.

In my opinion, it sounds like both parties in that are in the wrong and really should look at negotiations with a neutral party mediator.

Did someone say the developers had made a fix to stop people from putting placeables in the same spot as the terminal? If so this fix hasn't filtered it's way to the European-Chimaera server yet as the Mayor of a city I am in has done such a tactic, placing an armoire in the same spot as the Ballot terminal. Not only that but a Kimogila that has been placed in the hall, because it apparently looks 'Elegant' to the Mayor, the tail of said creature also continously blocks the terminal as well.

Now I wouldn't be too bothered with this, if the Mayor was more active and finding ways to keep people interested in staying in the town, but the Mayor is hardly ever seen.

I am a bit worried that the Mayor may pull a stunt as mentioned in the linked topic and try banning me from the city, because I am running against her at the moment. Despite the fact I have helped create the city and a lot of the things that are in the city. I know a fair number of the active members of the city are with me in this and as such now rather than just helping out a little bit with a slow gain in politician, I am now going to attempt to take over as Mayor and give the true active people of the city what they want.

Well cedantinea I both agree and disagree with you. If someone in my town gave me a cantina, most of the homes, and a few fountains and parks I would consider them to be donations and keep them as long as he was a part of the city. If he left the town of his own accord I would again assume that I was meant to keep them and might actually commision a new statue be made in his honor for all the donations. However, if Killgore is to be believed, he didn't leave town under his own will but was, in essence, forced out by the mayor. When that happens I wouldn't consider them to gifts but articles of theft. Accepting donations then ousting the donor just isn't very tactful, again if he just chose that this town just isn't for me then yes by all means keep them but when you decide that you just don't like him, kick him out and "take all your **edit** with you too!"

I can see where you're coming from. To date, the only person who has ever actually been ousted from our city was the one mentioned above. Anyone else who has left has done so of his/her own volition.

Those who had donated and left did not ask for the donations back, whcih I am grateful for. One even refused to let us honor him, believe it or not.

I still think there's more to this than is being told by either party and they have, as I see it, two options: a) forget about it and move on or, b) seek mediation by an uninvolved, objective third party.

Politician. The only Player versus Player profession.

In my eyes, a gift is a gift. You don't get it back. Never put anything in the trade window you cannot live without. Unless you know/trust/love/live with/have naked pictures of/kill this person, you should never expect to get the item back.

Double for gifts to a city or a mayor. If something goes to the betterment of a city (houses, cantinas, etc), then even the mayor really has no right to give them back to you. And the same goes for donations to the treasury. These are things which are given to the city proper.

Looking through the hindsight goggles, the first mistake was setting up the city with an unknown quantity as the mayor. If you don't have absolute faith in the mayor of your city, move into mine.
