Thread: Grant Zoning Rights and Shuttleports
Grant Zoning Rights is easily attainable in the first week, but shuttleports aren't currently.
What most people want from the start is the ability to restrict others abilities to takeover their fledgeling city, and a means to get to a city.
However, it will take several weeks to get the ability to place a shuttleport, which will mean that almost all cities will spring up as close to existing towns as possible, otherwise every resident has a long walk/ride to and from their city to the nearest transportation hub.
I would like to see Shuttle Port added to Novice Politician.
Why ? Because it encourages new cities to be placed far away from any current town, giving unused areas of planets a new lease of life.
I have several places scouted out that I'd like to place the MOF City, but the pure logistics of setting up 3-4km away from a town, where there are a number of high level aggro mobs in the area, means that I probably wont be able to get the PA to move, and I imagine many PA's are in the same situation.
I don't know if theres any chance of Shuttle Ports being moved to novice, as I can also see the reasoning behind it not being there - people just plonking city halls next to krayt gy/crystal caves etc, getting 5 people there & placing a shuttleport , but IMO, without them early on, many cities will not flourish unless placed as close as possible to current towns :/
Perhaps granting novice the Zoning Rights skill, and moving Shutleport to Intermediate would help ?
If I have to work up to Placing a shuttleport, then I plan on having to place 2 city halls...
Place one near our Current Community, which is 1.2km outside Narmle, Rori.
If about 6-8 weeks when I have enough xp to place a shuttleport, then I plan on getting another City hall and a Shuttleport, and placing them out in the boonies.....
In short, there will be a ghost Village left behind...
Our small PA is going to be moving 4500 m deep into dantooine, probably be able to muster 30 people to start with, and i think we will be able to get the 20 more needed for a shuttle port over the course of a month, i think the long term gain of having a city a long way from any npc city (and on a planet with worthwhile missions), far outweighs by what i beleive will be chaos around the starting planets (at least to begin with)
Place the city hall, surround it with houses, 1 each PA member, all declare residence, then leave it for a week, go back, vote, leave it a week etc, but somehow I dont think this is what the devs had in mind for cities
Grant zoning rights is being moved to Novice Politician in the next patch on TC.
I am for keeping the shuttleport in the high levels of politician and city. My PA already has a community, of about 25 people,in Dant 4km away form the closest outpost. We do an about 20 mins run to our city every time we want to go there. In this run you have to eveade a lot of very nasty creatures. Yet our crafters and other player with little combat skill manage to get there every single day. Beliveme, i am tired of this run and i would love to have a shuttleport already, but i think that shuttleports and clonning center should be hard to get. In my opinion they should be perks that you get when you get a large group of people to work together, and not the other way around, a tool you get to get more people in your city. I think of it as a goal to work towards. I really hope they keep shuttleports hard to get, otherwise everyone will have one and everyplanet will be full with shuttleports 1km away from each other.
In my opinion your city should be able to flourish on the dedication planning and hard work you put into it. If you and your mates do a good job your city will be a success. This is just my opinion. Thanks for your time in reading this.
Our city is 4500m from the closest shuttleport and we have been dealing with the walk for 6 weeks now. It just isn't that bad, about 5-7 minutes.
What is the point of a city close to an existing city? Why would I ever come to it or use your services? You need your city to be remote and near a POI to get people to want to come to it.
