Thread: The Drama Continues...

The drama in the city I run continues....sigh...

This weekend I was kicked out of the guild that the city was created for. The part that bothers me most, is I was kicked out based on information from someone that was recently kicked from the guild and brought back in. That the guild leader didn't even bother to talk to me, and get my side of things.

I was kicked out because I was looking into joining/creating a new guild. I had not left the guild, and if I was going to leave I would have let them know. The officers of the guild had a meeting and it looks like I get to be back into the guild. After all the fighting I've had to deal with, I don't even know if I want to be back in the guild.

I shouldn't have been kicked out of the guild in the first place. Now they want me to jump through hoops. Fine whatever. I'll do what I have to, to keep the city going. But I'm hoping the guild leader appologizes for her actions. To kick the mayor out of the guild, without even talking to the person. I thought the communication in the guild was bad, but really.... (Sigh)

Why do you want to go back to such a guild? Create you own guild like you were thinking about. Don't let others dictate how you play.

If you are the mayor, you have way more power than the guild. How hard would it be to drop your own guild hall in the same city and stage civil war? Just a thought! Also as a mayor, disband the militia except those that support you directly, and see who has to jump through hoops then? If they all leave then GREAT! you can start your own guild and keep your city and run it as you please.

Why the HELL are you letting yourself get pushed around? The Mayor holds all the marbles. and before you even attempt to do this, drop a BIG HUNK OF STATUE over the voting terminal rendering it USELESS and not allowing someone to run against you. This way you cant get out voted. Then DROP ANOTHER PA hall and see who kisses who's butt at that point.

Then, if you need to keep your city alive and at level, i have 3 words for you RECRUIT NEW PLAYERS!

You don't have to delete the town to start a new PA just get someone to drop a PA hall. There are plenty of multi guild towns across the galaxies it's not like you'd be the first.

If they take offense to it then ask them how their actions were unnoffensive towards you. How being summarily dismissed out of hand while you were obviously a powerful player in their guild shows a lack of respect and trust and communication that you simply won't tolerate. They can stay in the city and entertain the same benefits as always but they won't be able to entertain the benefit of your company and any of their decisions or views for the city will be given a bit more scrutiny. In time the two guilds could merge and one be the crafter base while the other is PvP central or something after trust is regained and lines of communication are widened.

But honestly, how could you let them do that to you and then jump through their hoops to rejoin 'em? I would just stay detagged for a good while if not start my own PA,luckily that won't happen in my guild since we're so small and all trust each other incredibly.

Dude that is a bannable offence and i would not try this if you are reported for this...and crs will come into game and delete the statue...and migh ban the mayor!!!!

So if you want to get even you could do the militia thing if you like and "lock" the guild out of the city by not alowing any of there NEW members to place new houses or structures in the city....and even baning the NEW members of the guild from all city buildings....if they have angered you that much......But the statue over the terminal is an exployt and will get you into trouble.....all of the other actions are perfectly alowed in game. (the CITY IS THE MAYORS) but can be voted out by the members if they can kick you out).

But also a day before you lose the vote you can destroy the whole city if you wish.. although that is a very bad think to do its your right as the building and the city is your property...but it really is an underhanded thing to do..

BUT ALSO dont forget its yours.....so in the end you can do what ever you want..and the leaders of the guild im sure are aware of that.

I myself am guild leader and mayor of my city...and everyone in the guild and city knows that my city is my city and if somone ever runs up against me in my city without my permission will lose or never get my city....why??? Because I'm an Imperial Dictator and my guild of all imperials know the first 2 rules of our guild...#1. if you are in our guild you are imperial!!! and #2. what i say goes PERIOD...(when it comes to guild matters)

All my officers report to me alown....but i respect them all and listen to there ideas but in the end the final say is mine...that might sound a little power trippy...but really i think it one of the reasons that my 1 year 3 month old guild is still around while i have watched countless other guild s fall apart.. Guilds with 2 or 4 or 10 leaders.....never work(or almost never work) because conflicting ideas (and it only takes one) TO RIP A GUILD INTO 2...or into nothingness....i have seen it far to many times.

So my fellow mayor....YOU alown have the power...over your city...if your guild is not helping you or making rash dicisions and kicking you based on one sided remarks......then it will be up to you to final dicision wether or not the city will still be there tomorrow.....although i know its hard to lose a city....if you built it once.. you can do it again.....and maybe the next time around the members of your city...or guild will understand that you are in charge.....

You see in my guild of 130+ all my members know they have 2 choices... #1. listen to me and do as i ask....(and i dont ask all that much of them). or option #2. Leave my city and guild....and i have seen many people come and go in my guild....and to tell you the truth at our peak we where at 200+ then we dropped to about 80 after i went offline for about 2 months (off and on 1 day a week for maint) .....and now we are back up to about 130+ and about 70% of the people that left the guild when i left....either stopped playing....or have re-joind us..because they learned buy them selves thatalot of guild have poor leadership...(or for the ones that made there own) figured out after along time..."WOW BEING A GUILD LEADER IS A PAIN IN THE @$$"

I would have to say there are not to manypeople out there that can run a large guild well....its alot of work and time.....

Because I care about the city and people in the guild, even if they don't care about me. I'm a glutton for punishment that way. I don't want to see something I worked so hard to put together, destroyed.

Yet then I remember a quote: "Better in flames and ashes, then left to their hands."

But I can't do that. I want to believe they will figure out their mistake. Guess they will only learn when they have lost the shuttleport and other beniefts of having a high level city.

Thing is I consider alot of members in the guild close friends. Is it so fair to them, to screw them over because one person in power tried to screw me over? I also fear if I did start screwing over the guild, I would be voted out. I have alot of support, but they are also loyal to the guild.

I've been working for the last year, as a 'servent' to the guild. Doing what I could for the city, for the betterment of the guild. I'm silly that way. Anyways...so I got let back into the guild.

However, they are demanding a vote of 'active' players, no alts. to be taken to determine if I stay Mayor. (sigh). I work on removing inactive houses, but having any inactive house in the city at all, I get called names. That some how I am the one who put the houses there, as if I have some way to make them go away.

It's nice to read, and get alot of support from other Mayors out there. I wish the guild's leadership would realize the power I have, and which I choose not to use. Instead they call me power hungry and a control freak, etc... (sigh) I keep asking myself why I put up with it... Why bea 'servent' to the city, to make the game more enjoyable for others...

That's not a guild that's a group of jackasses taking advantage of you. Unless your group of friends is part of the upper echelon screw 'em. Don't destroy the city or anything but deffinitely destroy your membership in that guild. Why did you stay that long? The only thing I have to sacrifice for my guild is my 9 lots (I originally placed the hall last year) and for my city I just need to have a damnded good reason for doing X or just listen to why people want me to do X.

I owe my characters soul to the leader of the main guild in town since I owe him so much money (he's got an arch character and all the decor and a lot of the homes are "his") but he doesn't harp on me about it beyond jokes. I need to keep tensions down between the few imperial friends of mine that have lived in the city for a long time and the rest of the town since we're now officially rebel but I won't kick out a goodfriend. They all understand this a bit begrudgingly and I have made some admissions to a few of the things I've done and didn't demand with an iron fist.

Things work out just great because I listen and change things with the guilds involved and we all have some mutual respect for each other, 1 person doesn't get to have a power trip and demand complete control over everything. The only aspect that I want to, and in a sense do, have is over the urban planning. After that it's all sort of up in the air and let's discuss for what's going on.

If I where in your shoes, with the limited knowledge I have going on this, I'd do one of two options. A) quit that guild and start my own in town. B) demand that the guild leader take up politician and be given the mayoral seat then move on to a different town and a different guild where the leadership is actually respectable. I'm sure you've got friends in other guilds that wouldn't mind accepting you. Join 'em and see if they'd want to start their own city or if their mayor wants to take a hiatus.

I've been in the game/guild since the begining, so my friends are in the upper eschelon of the guild. I also love being Mayor, and of a major metropolis on Naboo. City caps means if I started a new city I would most likely have to start on another planet, and if I do start on Naboo, with city caps it will be forever until it reaches metropolis status. The head of the guild would be more then happy to take on being politican. Or more correctly, to have one of her close friends take on the role. The guild leader has supported twice now, the same person running against me for Mayor. While the majority of the rest of the guild leadership support me. So the guild and city have been forced into being divided. Hopefully things will mend, and I hope they realize that what I'm doing. I could have destroyed the city/caused alot of problems for the guild when they kicked me out. But I didn't. I worked with the leadership to get back in. Which I think says alot about my character. Yet I'm sure they will call me untrustworthy, etc...

as all of us have said here, its time for YOU to make a decision, DOORMAT or MAYOR. Grow a set, take a stand and see what happens.

If they call you untrust worthy and attempt to over through you as mayor then the Guild LEADER(s) are power tripping on you....at that time then i would pull the plug on the city....because if they are going to let you back in the guild just to double cross you and vote you out...then they will kick you out after that im sure...and total victory for them.....I'f i where you i would keep an eye on the voting terminals..as im sure if they vote you out they will do it behind your back or without your knowlage.

So i would be on guard!!!

if members of the guild are your close friends as you mentioned, I hope they're helping you correct the situation. however, if folks in a guild are being jerks and you've overstayed their welcome, I say so be it. you're the mayor of the city, if they vote you out that's one thing... they should not expect you to help them to vote you out. just unaffiliate your city with the guild if they're gonna get nasty like that, don't let them push you around
