Thread: Player Cities Update
New bug with the patch apparently, there have been several reports of this happening: sometimes when you place a city hall the city is not created. The city hall structure terminal only has the destroy option and no option is available on the city management terminal. The player who placed the city hall can't even run for mayor (the terminal tells him he is not a citizen).
This has been reported on Kauri deveral times, I don't know about other servers.
Thanks,

City: Phoenix Outpost
We placed our city hall and had the ten + citizens plant houses and register. City Hall would not update past 7 citizens. Several citizens tried to relocate around the city hall zone to no affect. City Hall has now been destroyed to lack of population.
Either there is a big bug with the new city caps that has affected our city of Basinia on Chilastra/Naboo today, or I am seriously misunderstanding something.
Thread I just posted on the issue: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Politician&message.id=19485
Thank you.
I promise I didn't forget about you folks.
Plinka has done a fantastic job and I've been working on finding a candidate to adequately represent you folks. The team has been working on the various issues and Ill be able to get to that as much as possible over the holidays, but I think youll be pleased when the new correspondent signs on. His name begins with a "B" and hes been a member of the SWG community for over 3 years...
Im going to wait for him to announce his arrival though. He has some holiday things to attend to but will be visiting over the Holidays. Until then, I will passively hang around the forums to watch for your issues - - keeping them in this thread is a big plus.
Have a great weekend.

Honestly TH, I could care less how long they have been here. I want someone who is a Politician and a Mayor and knows our issues. If you bring on somebody that Has been around for 3 years and has been a Politician since the release of the skill and is a Mayor and has put up with all the bugs, I would be very happy indeed.
If you bring on somebody that has been around for 3 years, but has never even placed a fountain, I'll be seriously upset. I don't care if it is someone who has a good name in the community or not, I just want someone who knows all the headaches we real Politicians have.

Only if he has been a Politician for a while.

Wouldn't you prefer them to actually have the skill for their position??

As noone put this one in the thread yet... some cities seem to be updating repeatedly, taking money out of the treasury each time. It won't be long before some cities go bankrupt, if they haven't already. People are posting about it here:

While this isn't a politician issue directly, it does concern player cities. So I thought this would be an appropriate thread to copy this to.
Thanks
With the advent of cities people are clustering together in new ways. There are currently persistant channels for Guilds. There are other channel tools for planets as well as automatic chat channels for groups. Our guild was the core foundation of our city. When we wanted to talk to each other we just used guildchat. Now we have three guilds and a number of unguilded citizens. We have tried creating a general chat channel for city chat. The problem with this is it is not persistant. When all the players that were using that channel leave, it is closed. Can we get a channel dedicated to city use that is persistant? Like with guilds, once you are a citizen it is activated? And using the citizen tag, limit the channel only to citizens? This would make announcements, meetings and inter city issues easier to communicate.
Thanks

I find it inconceivable that the sole input from the development team on the issues raised in this thread is that we will be pleased with the new correspondent! I could care less who is selected as correspondent! What I care about is city halls drifting, disappearing, not advancing, updating daily, consuming treasuries, not giving political experience, and in general just not working.
Doesn’t the development team understand that each city spoken for in this thread represent the concerns of that city’s population? In the case of Basinia on Chilastra, that is 86 players! There are 86 of us who ask daily what has SOE said on the subject, when will a fix be in place? What do we tell our citizens; that Thunderheart says we will be pleased with a new correspondent.
Come on guys; let’s get this in gear already! I recognize it’s the holidays, I also recognize that the holidays mean time off for your workforce. But it also represents time off for most of the folks who play this game! You should be accelerating your efforts to get this fixed now, rather than reducing your efforts. Adjust your schedules according to your business needs, and in this case your business needs are to solve the problems you created by introducing features that weren’t fully tested!
Don’t you realize the harm the city problems are doing to your community? Our problems in Basinia are minor compared to some of the others detailed in this thread; the “only” issues we have is failure of our mayor to gain experience, failure of our city to advance to level 5, and the drain on our treasury due to a daily update which consumes 200,000+ credits per day. How do you expect us to be able to fund 200,000+ credits to keep our city alive? If you think this issue does not concern each and every one of us, you are sorely misguided. Instead of be greeted with a “Hey there, how goes it” when we enter the chat channel, we get a “How are you fixed for credits? Can you cover part of today’s update costs?”
Tell us again about that new correspondent, the one we will be very pleased about!
What really saddens me in this whole affair is that the development team appears to have become complacent about quality issues and playabity of the game. Stop working on enhancements and just fix the things that are broken.
If it is in fact Bajeezus, he was one of the best known and liked posters by all sides of any issue because he fit all that critera. If he has an interest in an area (of which politics was a big one), I know he would do a good job as its correspondent.
(If it is some other B-name, then I will support them the same, however I cannot see TH giving us such a direct hint if some of the old-time posters aren't meant to catch it.)

Where has he been since then and what has he been doing? I'm all for bringing in somebody good. It would be a lot better though if they have experienced our Politician, and not just go make one on TC. I honestly could care less if our Correspondent has a char on TC or not. I want them to have a char on Live and be an active Politician and get to see what we put up with (or lack thereof) so they know what they are talking about when they present the issues to the Devs.
They better have a real politician on a real server in a real player city.
