Thread: politician/player city changes on test
It's very hard to describe something as unreasonable if it serves a useful purpose. Casting a vote in an election whose result is already decided doesn't serve much of a useful purpose.
> so if your city doesn't give a crap about voting now it's the time to educate them.
For educate read introduce a new tedious task which won't benefit them. That's how they will see it.

Must be frustrating for you to have to keep quiet about some changes and then when you announce them a bunch of people jump on you and say they are no good!
If the voting thing is the price we have to pay for being able to resign and force a new election then I think it's worth paying. I also think that anything posted on TC is up for debate. We asked for the ability to resign; it's coming and we're happy. We asked for a way to outvote ghost citizens; it's coming and we're happy. We did not ask to have to cast pointless votes every three weeks for a mayor whose victory is assured from the outset; if it's coming so be it but some of us are not happy.

definately. A common theme in many of the new changes is pushing group play. To master pilot requires a large scale group effort, 'solo' groups are going out the window (the exact opposite of the whole group theme the game originaly wanted), and now the speed at which you master politician will also be a group effort. Even going back to the last content publishes, the DWB and Corvette heavily push group play. On some levels, it's a great plus, on others it's being force fed blindly (solo groups do need to go, but knocking them out in one shot like this basicaly 'lays off' a huge portion of the player base)
Overall, i'm glad to see the group play pushed so hard. I'm also glad i have a ton of money saved for the economic instability the solo group removal will cause. And i'm very happy mayors got noticed. /Cheer Papi

Player cities will now have to be more careful in choosing their mayor.
disagree here, it s more like the other way arround
before it was very hard to get rid of one so you had to choose wise
with this update you can kick a mayor after 3 weeks easily

Three weeks is more than enough time to do any damage that the Mayor might do... this is why the Mayor must be chosen with more care.
if a mayor want s to hurt a city it take a few minutes to do so, so where s the difference between 1-3 weeks?
maybe you can rob more money in 3 weeks but doing severe damage takes just a few moments

Tedious? Are you serious? Going into the city hall to click a couple of times once every 21 days is not tedious. Its kinda like paying maintenance. You want tedious start managing harvesters, how many clicks does it take to pull the contents out of the hopper? Anyway, once the mayor is up to the level needed to manage the city the citizens no longer need to vote. So unless you are changin mayors voting isn't absolutly neccessary, just like now.

I agree it's nice to see us get a bit of lovin', especially when we didn't really expect any. Definitely good for morale.
But I also do sympathize with the Politicians worried about having to pester their citizens to vote in order to get XP.
But get creative... don't consider it "pestering" them. Make it fun! Have a "Rock The Vote" party in your local cantina once every 3 weeks. Offer city incentives for people who actively vote in 3 consecutive elections. (Something like a decoration outside their house saying "I am a Voter and Proud Of It!") Move active voters up higher on the priority list of requests that you fulfill (like which Trainers to place). Offer "tax refunds" to the voters. They might not consider it "harassing them to vote" if you turn it into something fun.
The thing that does concern me just a little is the prospect of more attempts at hostile takeovers... As I know all too well from firsthand experience, if there's a way within the system for people to try and ruin other people's fun, there will be people there to abuse it. And although there is the week buffer period between the registration period and the final vote count, it still worries me just a bit...
Now thats how you play politics. In our revamp, whenever it may occur, i hope we get new and greater ways to use our political influence.
Will there be a way for us, as politicians, to know who participated in the vote and who didn't? If so, that's great! Definitely a great idea to offer rewards and turn it into something fun. I feel that if players are really happy with their city, and with the mayor, they won't see it as such a horrible task to assist that person in their profession... and little extra benefits can add to the enthusiasm.
