Thread: Politician Requirements Will Be The Death of Player Cities...Already Happening...

Having to spend so many skill points on being a politician wouldn't be so bad if it actually kept me busy and gave me interesting things to do. As it is, I don't really have much to do. Occasionally I will have people ask me to give them zoning rights to place their homes or factories or whatever, but it doesn't happen so often that it constantly keeps me on my toes (and more often than not, my militia takes care of it anyway). Placing decorations, when I am struck with a moment of inspiration, doesn't take much time. I spend more time sitting on my butt waiting for the next city update so I can go to Coronet and grab some more skills (whose new abilities will keep me occupied for about another 15 minutes).

I enjoy being mayor. I like the fact that I am actively involved in improving the game for so many other players. I take pride the way our city is beginning to take shape (we're only about 4 weeks old). But watching all my guildmates and citizens (our city is a guild-founded one) master their respective professions and make their way in the world and knowing I'll never be able to join them in the same way because I have so many skill points invested in this mostly useless profession is very disheartening.

I'd like to see either a reduction in the cost of skill points for this profession OR, even better, some actual content that makes the investment in the skill points worthwhile.

Well, the skill point thing is keeping people in my city from running for mayor. I must step down as mayor in a couple months due to the impending birth of my second child. This has been known for several months. In a city of 65, it shouldn't be that hard. If skill points are used, it should be 4-3-2-1 and one at master.
