Mayors not being allowed to withdraw funds??!

How will I repay myself for my 2.5k settlement maintenance bonuses to new residents?

Or repay myself for the weekly player events I hold?

Or for the specialists I hire to aid the city?

Or for the furnishings and items for the City's buildings?

Or for redeeding costs when we do urban renewal?

Or for tax returns to residents who have earned some form of exemption?

Wow, you must think I am made of money if you thik I m going to foot the bill for the city.

The city has it's money, and I have mine. They are seperate. If they start to mingle, then it turns into something called Embezzlement.

While in my city it is not an issue, since there are ni taxes, but withdrawing from the treasury could be justified for statues, decorations, shuttle port, cantina, cloning center, bank, thearter, medical center, etc that ARE NOT FREE.

What about the current Mayor withdrawing 300K so far and all we have is 4 mission terminals? Interesting.....

Yes we are trying to vote in a NEW Mayor to make a much better city.

I still do not think a mayor needs to withdraw funds from the treasury at all. Inital costs of a building is the least expense I can think of long term. I also see no reason for a mayor to have the ability to destroy a city hall.

I can agree with the mayor not having the ability to destroy a city hall, at least not without support from a vast majority of the voting citizens. But what good would a treasury be without someone being able to witdraw from it? And if not the mayor, then who? I'm sure we'd all gladly entertain alternatives if you would suggest some instead of simply saying it's wrong and shouldn't be the way it is.

Whether the devs will entertain them, however, is quite a different story.

What is the prupose of the city treasury? To pay the mantenance on city buildings. Why ( other than inital pruchace ) would a mayor need to withdraw funds?

It is not for funding the Mayors hunting trips

it is not for making extra money for the Mayors PA.

Dayln, your points are well taken, and a responsible mayor would never do such things. But there are other expenses that a mayor may need to pay outside of city structure maintenance, such as miner maintenance. I know that the city I am currently helping to build has miners whcih are considered propertly of the city, not any one individual. All of the material from these miners is used to build city structures and houses which we offer free to new citizens. Not being able to withdraw from the treasury would severely hamper our ability to maintain these things.

I know what you're saying, I really do. There is a lot of potential for griefing on the part of the mayor, because they do have a lot of power already and, as many of us have realized, not all (very few, actually, based on some of the horror stories I've heard) are responsible enough to hold the position. But this doesn't mean the profession of mayor should be nerfed down to that of a building and garden placer and nothing more. People just have to be more careful who they elect as mayor in the future, because some of the repsponsibility must lie with the choices the citizens make. Just as it is in real life, people will get the politicians they deserve.

If it were the latter PLEASE take it! LOL! I hate being a politician! The XP system is conducive to logging on twice a week and waiting around to level vs. actually doing something! Personally I'd rather spend the skill points elsewhere, but until we have everything set up just right I'm committed toPolitician.

So don't be a politician! Plenty of us who are looking to actually use the profession are enjoying it - if you want to create a nice environment for you and your buddies, a Faction base would have been much easier.

Politician is a profession just like any other - it's right for some people , and not for others...

The purpose of the city treasury is to pay for city incurred expenses. That includes, but is not limited to, maintenance on city structures. Or maybe you missed the myriad of possible expenses listed throughout this thread that a city may incur other than maintenance.
