Reporting in from Last Hope, Tattooine, Starsider:

Life has been a flurry of activity in Last Hope.. we had a crisis with our Hospital - our former Master Doctor had let personal feelings get in the way of sense of Duty.. so we lost our Medical Facilty. Fortunately, a new Doctor was found to administrate the Hospital, and Tusken Memorial Hospital is now re-open for the needs of the sick and injured.

Our Mall has been humming with shoppers come to inspect the latest wares - our local "Head Shop" (there is a huge Gungan Head statue in the "front room" of this small Tatooine house) has been Party Central when small groups of adventurers settle in to smolder the Grey Gabon and play a slitherhorn or two..

We anticipate breaking ground for the re-opening of the LoneStar Bar very shortly.. and plans are in the works to bring this institution to Last Hope with a bang! Updates to follow...

Our City Size population has been waiting impatiently for some sign from the Maker as to when and if we will ever be able to plant a shuttleport -- but this lack doesn't seem to slow down our tourism! .. and the vehicle vendor has no complaints, either...

The Militia was busy this week with clearing the streets of some troublemakers -- they have been /citybanned, and /banlisted at the Hospital, but making threats to the Mayor's Office and invading PA Halls seems to keep these monkeys entertained.. possibly the Planetary Authority will enact some new tools that would be useful to our Police Force? We are, however, quite grateful for the zoning laws, since this seems to keep some of these greifer's arsenal at bay.. no nasty named harvesters in front of City Hall.

The Mayor's Office is working on constructing a garden for the city's open space .. and trainers are popping up in the Commercial District. Busy, busy, busy!

..but I think we are shaping up quite nicely.

Imperia located as far north of Theed as you can go on the Kettemoor serveris a 2nd teir city planted in Dec. This is the 2nd week we have been unable to advance to level 5. We currently are home to 113 citizens with more wanting in faster than we can rezone new residentual for them. We advanced a level each week right on time so have all the city structures and just need that 50m more.

This week we placed our new courthouse. We also have a musuem, zoo and 11 Imperial bases of all types. This all keeps us pretty busy protecting our assets from them pesky rebels. We are a very controled build with military to the east and commerce being revamped to the west.

We are made up of 5 guilds atm but have requests from a couple others wishing to join us. We really need that extra 50m

Aphrael Honored to be Mayor of Largest Imperial city on Kettemoor <population wise anyway>

Bangel...the only and fastest way to gain Politician XP is to have lots of citizens. The more you get, the more XP you get each week..and the faster your city grows. There is no way to "grind" your Xp from being a Mayor and you put in more real work than any other proffession. It really takes a special breed of us to do this. Make sure its right for you before you totaly dive in, or at least have someone sitting on the back burner ready to take up your duties if you bail...nothing worse than a Mayor ditching his city and all the citizens getting boned. Best of luck to you.

TH,

What was wrong with the box that popped up giving me a choice of where to clone? Once again, a rashly implemented "fix" that is only beneficial to people who don't want to pay attention to what they select.

Well, this week North Beach has experienced a large growth, bringing us to 80 citizens. This has brought alot more life into the city as old-timers get to know the newbies. We often have impromtu "fight nights" in the cantina and just have fun dueling (in hot pants) while there is music in the background.

The cost of gardens have come into play as just 4 raised the maintance by 100k. I used the faction labeling of gardens to my advantage and placed 1 garden as a rebel and 1 as an imperial.I have called these gardens the"Rebel and Imperial Theme parks"because I placed a rebel and imperial terminal at each (they are at opposite ends of town).

Our city designer did some moves along the beach front to increase the the number of homes that get a nice view. He also requested the addition of a naming convention to homes (address names). I was not too keen on this and havestressed toeveryone that the naming was optional.

To raise money, I created a "Voter Regestration" vendor in the city hall and made some traps and called them lottery tickets. I emailed the citizens and told them to buy a ticket at 10k for a chance to win a life orb. Brought in 300k to the treasury. Also gave out some orbs to people that made a huge (non monetary) contribution to the city.

Finally, I created a vendor labeled "Chamber of Commerce." Anyone with a vendor is asked to offer an example of the wares they sell, with the name of the item being that of their shop with a waypoint. I then place the item for sale with a description and sell it for 99999. This way when outsiders check out the city info, they will come across him (he also barks) and see all the vendors in the city.

StarForge Mining Outpost - Lok - Outpost

Yep, two days ago the election came through and I escaped! (Still hoping for the resign option though.)

From Metropolis to Outpost in one gut wrenching day. I know this is supposed to be about the last week in politics but **edit** those first 24 hrs of a new city are jammed pack with excitement.

We had a perfect spot picked out, and we thought we were all ready to go, we had our 10 minimum citizens, we were cocky, we'd just builta metropolis, this Outpost is EASY!

Hah

Turns out that if you stuff up your declaration of residency, building a new city is anything but. Especially since you have to wait 24 hrs to redeclare, so its kinda sucky if you stuff it up, because the city cycles in before you can redeclare. (Methinks maybe they want to make the city check after 48 hrs not 24, you give you a second bite at the cherry).

So anyway, we were 3 people down and 5 hrs from VOOMPDOM, so we ran around and got ourselves a new city hall just in case. As it turns out we have friends, three in fact... fancy that, who helped us out in our hour of need. Got two of the other residencies sorted with a couple of hours to spare, and voila, 10 minimum residents, and a nice message from the Civic Planning Authority as soon as the server came back up (which makes me think the 24 hr clock didn't stop for the shutdown... interesting).

Anyway, the city, ahem, outpostis now at 11 citizens, should be at 12 or 13 soon, and then who knows?

Can I just say it sucks not to have a bank and medical center and cloning center? Shuttleport I can live without since I kinda live in the city anyway, but when the reds are right on your doorstep it kinda sucks bigtime to not have auto-woundhealing.

Ahhh the joys of the frontier lifestyle.

Master Politician, can't place anything larger than a small garden, can't put in specs, or taxes, but at least I can place a Faction mission terminal! Yes I'm sure that will bring the citizens in droves! I'm so glad I'm just in it for the money...

So how was your day?
