Why not compromise a little...

Keep the current rank caps and city caps, ie. 20 cities per planet or w/e, and keep the 10 rank 4 and5 rank 5 cap, BUT include a method of getting around it for highly populated cities.

An example would be: A rank 3 city exists with 100 citizens but they cannot advance to rank 4 because there are already 10. Well the game says you have to have 55 citizens to become rank 4, if 10 rank 4 cities exist the number of citizens should needed to become a higher ranking city, for non rank 4 cities not existing ones, would be raised say to 75 citizens, just a number I thought up so subject to change. If they meet the 75 they should be able to advance even if it meant having 11 rank 4 cities.

This would allow new ones to raise up in rank, even though it'd be harder it'd be possible, and not affect existing rank 4's and 5's.

When an originalrank 4 city, one that would only need 55, dies or moves or w/e then instead of another city comming to take it's place that only has 55,anexisting one in this new planthat needed 75 would now need the 55 instead, so the other cities would have to work as hard and get 75 citizens like the others would and it would reward the ones existing for longer.

It would take a little time to work out and debug but it would work I believe.

It would allow every city, the 20 or w/e, to reach rank 4 and 5 but it would make it harder for those that did not get in the initial 10 rank 4's.

I am pretty sure that there cannot be 10 rank 4 AND 5 rank 5 cities. I am sure that there can be 10 rank 4 or higher but only 5 rank 4 can become rank 5. So in the end you only can have 10 shuttleports from Player cities on the main planets.

I think the inactive player rule can help to kill ghosttowns. This thing was only a few weeks active and it was really productive for upraising cities. For some people this rule is a pain, also for me at that time, things went wrong to that time and we nearly lost rank 3, but now we could grow and there are still some ghost towns.

I dont see why not, there is a cap for 5 lvl 5 and 10 lvl 4's. if 5 of the lvl 4's can progress to lvl 5 then that leaves a hole of 5 lvl 4 cities, which means there should then be room for 5 more to advance.

I think the devs intended the original 10 cities to fill the lvl 5 slots first but no one expected a bottleneck at 4, I mean we get a shuttle what do we need to expand further for?

So your saying just because we didnt start playing this game from the moment it was published we dont have a right to be able to start / develope and grow a city ? thats bs mate sorry. the gripe is mainly about so many bugs in the game if the bugs were issued and cleared up then we wouldnt have anything to moan about it would be fair play, tuff, you missed out as you say.

The point everyone is trying to make is simple, The system is messed up.

I have two citizens showing on my Citizen list that left my city 5 months ago!

If that is also the case for the 20 people who just joined my city from another one and there still sticking on that citys citizen list then hell i will moan!

im obviously the better mayor else they wouldnt have moved cities in the first place. i do a damn good job of looking after my citizens ... the city they left on the other hand obviously that wasnt the case huh .. so you tell me why that Mayor has the right to sit in his fancy level 3 city and i dont ?

Iv issued many bug reports about this fact and nothing has changed my citizens (although are on my list etc) are still stuck on the other citys list. The only solution any CSR has given me is to tell all my citizens to pick up there houses wait 24hr then place there house again *sigh*

As a mayor of two differant cities on two differant servers I want to offer you my advice.

Stop crying, and whining, and quit, as mayor you failed.

You failed to get the city together in time to be one of the first.

You failed to move to another planet, you failed to merge with another city, you failed your people!

you failed to find any other solution but to whine!

You live life like this too? I'm stuck in traffic -"God make them go away"

Realmen laugh at you "God he's griefing me"

play the game or spank your self - stop whining to the devs everytime somthing doesn't go your way!

The worst part of this game is becoming these forums! once there was infomation now there are babies!

Lets start a petition, lets whine the devs to death, lets show what a bunch of losers we are, we can't play and suck at it with out blaming someone else.

What a completey stupid post.

To come onto these boards and literally grief people that are trying to point out flawed issues to the developers in the hope they can be addressed is the most idiotic thing i have ever come accross in these boards.

Lets look at some well known facts shall we before you start griefing people.

1, The capping system in swg is exploited to Hell by people placing a city and having it reach its maximum potential in minimum time. The do thisby goingto anotherserver and making pacts with people onthis sever to declaire residence in their city. They inturn declair in that city and bingo a never dieing city is formed that can reach Level 5 in short time.

2, Citys update 1 week for when a city hall was placed, potentially allowing other citys placed after yours to rise faster than you if you dont have enough people in your city when your update comes arround. This is all well and good but what happens if your city come next update has enough people to advance to Level 3 but cant get to Level 2 due to a city that advanced before you hit the cap.

Oh and on a second point i thought i would commend you on beingmayour of 2 citys on different servers. Thismeans you more than likely exploted the 1st fact i posted on. Pat yourself on the back for that one.

Why dont you do all of the people trying to see a better system installed and take your abusive comments somewhere else.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Abusive Comment) Stop crying, and whining, and quit, as mayor you failed.

(Responce) They arnt crying or whining. They're expressing concern over a flawed system. They haven't failed as mayors their citys are still standing and have been for months.

(Abusive Comment) You failed to get the city together in time to be one of the first.

(Responce) Aye with a flawed system and exploiting Mayours seems normal people that inhabit a single server with friends have to settle for less, while people like yourself come along and grief them for wanting things changed to give everyone a chance of living it bigger city.

(Abusive Comment) You failed to move to another planet, you failed to merge with another city, you failed your people!

(Responce) Ahh right I see. So the fact that people prefer to inhabit on a single planet that they call home and have for months means nothing ? Also why should people be foreced to move into another city full of strangers they dont know ? Wanting the best for the people in your city in its current location is not failing them in my book its trying to insure that they get nothing but the most you can provide.

(Abusive Comment) you failed to find any other solution but to whine!

(Responce) Whine ? Since when did listing ideas and suggestions to a broken system constitute whineing ?

(Abusive Comment) The worst part of this game is becoming these forums! once there was infomation now there are babies!

(Responce) Hail mary to that do yourelf a huge favour and delette yourself from these forums. The one thing i hate more than anything is people that grief others when pointing out their views instead of contributing to the situation with helpfull suggestions.

Pappi Since your the new correspondent, would it be possible to also get a firm ruling on the way its SUPPOSED to work if a city loses a person b4 the update?

Last january I was toldif anexisiting city, say lvl 4 , losesa person(s) to reduce their rank, they have a week grace period to get them back. This was explained to me before, but it was never official.

I need to know if this is true or not.

The funny part is when we were lvl 3 and a lvl 4 city did this and no one updated to take their place, this was explained was the correct process, that they would temp lose rank but had a chance to get it back within a week.

Now a few months later we had someone leave right before update and so bumped us to lvl 3, but we replaced that person the next day and yet we are unable to get rank 4 back and NOW this is explained to me

how it works. So how can their be 2 different set of rules to this.

ANy help would be appreciated as been fighting with CSRs about this and just wanted them to see maybe bug on it as it doesnt look like any town filled the hole.

I never heard of the "grace period" theory, but I'll try to grab someone's attention regarding this issue

the "how does a city advance after another drops a level" will be answered in the weekly question (ok, so I was sneaky and sorta combined 2 questions into 1 )

... sending this thread back up was bad though you can probably start a new thread next time, or PM me if you don't want the whole forum to see.

Oh Ala-

well i guess your right! I must have read the title of this thread wrong, Lord knows where i got the idea for the term "whine"

Imoved an entire guild of 70ish people from one server to another just so we could have the city we wanted, where we wanted, heck 2 other guilds came with us.

I'm sorry if my words are harsh for you but i'm not PC, i think you should say what you mean.

Its a game, a game that you play with and against thousands, you have to compete and work with the dynamics of the game and the other players.

If you dont like somthing complaining doesn't fix it, thats my point! Find a way within the confines of the game to win.

I was trying to help, but if a group hug and the devs wiping your nose for you is the way want it, great!

But you are in for a rude reality check,I recommend you invent your own game, so you can make everything perfect and fair in everyway just like life!

So I went to grab a CSR...

he'd never heard of the "grace period" (actually, nor have I), and he pretty much gave me a confirmation on how city updates work:

When a city updates, it takes somet time for the database to figure out all the related info, such as maintainance or the city's rank. If the city doesn't have enough people to sustain their current rank, then it drops the rank instantly and frees up a spot if applicable. If your city is ready for an advancement and there's a spot, you get bumped up.

hehe yeah no one heard of a grace period, yet back in december when we had enuf for lvl 4 and a town lost their lvl 4 rank, they were able to get it back and this is what was told.

But thnx for looking into for me , I think we still have a bug tho as there are only 9 lvl 4 cities showing in our planet, and yet we still get a cap msg. I dont think the database flushes its records very well.
