Thread: The Problem With The New Maintenance Rule.......Serious Issue

That would require 186 lots in our city.

I am impressed! That must be a great sight. Hmm, you are on Scylla but what is your city? I want to create a character there and see 186 tents in one city since that's at least 330m x 330m large area![]()

A good solution is to put the tents down yourself and make the merchant an admin. That way you control the tents in the future.
*whispers to Egida* That's what I suggested too, but my post has only 3 stars so itprobably meansthatmany people think it's a bad idea*shrug* But I don't know any better ways...I hope devs do something since it seems to be a huge problem in many cities
So the solution to this existing problem (which entails more then just tents mind you, I'm waiting on a PA hall to asplode) is for the mayor to pick up merchant and sacrifice all 10 of his lots? What happens when I want to be useful to move people into the town? You know, drop the home for them then transfer ownership after moving their 150 across worlds. Or what if I own the PA hall for my guild? Does this mean we can't have more then 5 tents in the town or doom and gloom shall befall us due to crafters quitting?
There are no real solutions to this problem in the game. We need a solution to the problem in the game. This thread really isn't going to do that because Pappi has been telling them we need a solution to the problem in the game....

Our city is called Helios (on Tatooine). We don't have 186 tents. But all structures on our 4 main streets together are 186 lots which includes shops in small, medium and large tatooine houses as well as tatooine and generic guild halls.
And that problem is well known and has been expressed to the devs, most likely on several different occasions and a consistenly resurfacing thread, by Pappi. We can't do jack from here on out now, the ball is in their court. Either allow us to 'condemn' homes to cessate bank fund funneling in or use CSR's to pick 'em up. Odds of them happening are slim although we do have good arguments to promote them so all is not lost. But the point of this thread is moot. The ideas have been shipped along and now it is just beating a dead horse. One that's starting to smell no less.

OK something that some of the people here are not understanding. Yes your giving solutions to fix things in the future and i appreciate that.
BUT, the problem is that these structures are here NOW and are a problem NOW. All the ideas that have been given to eliminate the problems from occuring in the future are fantastic ideas. And they will be implemented. But the problems are the tents that are there currently that are not being picked up and not allowed to decay because of the new bank payment system
That is the topic of this thread, i know how to not let it happen again from the ideas given.

I agree, there are no real solutions, only few bad ones to prevent tents (and houses too) staying in the city almost forever. And instead of trying to fix the problem in this thread sincePappi is already trying to do that, we can try to give options which work now
Colors: very risky, small risk, no risk at all
1. Anyone can place a tent if they want
2. Let only the people you trust place tents
3. Placetents yourself (needs 0400 merchant and spend your own lots in tents)
4. No tents at all, give thema mall for example

Stop saying this point is mute...because it is not. Its a valid point that alot of people that have posted on here, and that i have talked to even on my server are having.
You should know by playing this game that the only way to get soemthign fixed basically is to keep bringing it up, and having the coorespondants notice it again, to remind them that its there.
Telling people to stop bringing it up doesnt help....so which is it Kettle or Pot?
All im saying is that if someone has a problem with something, they have everyright to post about it to either gain community support or piss people off. Well im not tryingto piss people off at all.
For one, theword is moot, mute is what I wish the issue was. Pet peeve I know, but that isn't misspelling or poor grammar that's a different word.
The point I"m trying to make, and even the analogy I continue to bring up is that this thread is a horse that was beaten to death, resurrected, beaten to death a second time and is now starting to turn gang green. It is known!
So bringing it up is unneccessary. Especially since the likelihood of developers spending any meaningful time on this board in particular is very low. All it does is bump up an issue to pester Pappi...I don't want to pester Pappi she's doing a find job and knows the ins, outs, ups, and downs of the profession like no other. To assume she is unaware of this idea is ridiculous so please tell me the purpose this thread serves? That is the only one that I can see and frankly if I wanted to annoy her I'd use IM or spam her TC mailbox
From playing the game all I've seen is that development makes their mind up about something and that is generally the wayit goes. They will always listen to the community if it has loud and numerous backlashes (experimentation revamp patch) but this won't get one. All it will get is the politician community and a few others bringing up points against it that make logical sense and might sway them to rethink it. This kind of discussion is generally best kept on the correspondent forum since there won't be 300 'first' replies to a dev post that add nothing to the conversation. Or empassioned stories that really just prove instances where it is bad in the background of the whole system. Basically, the best way to get something fixed is to have Pappi do her job. From all that I can tell she does, and does it well.
PS You're right I'm hypocritical, everyone on the planet is a hypocrit so at least I'm in good company, doesn't mean I can't espouse my opinions. In fact I have a right to post them to either gain support or piss people off. I'm not trying to piss people off, I'm trying to keep the boards free of recurrent topics that have no need to recur.
Some of our city is also actively military and 4 months ago several people got shipped out without a lot of warning. Others have just quit - without a word of goodbye. Yes unfortunately sometimes it happens.
We should be able to evict a house from the city if the owner has not been online in a period of say 3 months - and I don't mean destroy the house - but the house and the items go into the users inventory or bank. Anything - alot of people can quit with fat bank accounts and it will take a long time for the houses - structures to leave.

Yes, it would be nice to have the ability to do something about situations like this, but there is nothing better within game mechanics than to get to know the person before you let them place a structure. I really don't see the devs putting any way to remove structures froma city. Too many possibilities for griefing.
P.S. I don't see why no one else can go off topic, but youseem to feel that it's okay for you to do it when you are criticizing them for going off topic. You seem to be doing a very good job of "trying to mod the boards" yourself.

Im not modding the boards, im trying to get people to see they are going off topic, and yes, that makes me go off topic while pointing them out. I mnot complaining on anyone elses posts that "this should not be here or what not"
People have a right to post what subjects they have problems with, which is what i did. People do not have the right to sit here and say you should not have posted this. So again...please stay on topic. Pretty simple.
