Many of the above dont get it...you really dont. you dont own the land unless you expand to that land....if I am living in the land that you expand to I become a citizen whether you want me or not...if there are siegers and they outnumber you guess what you no longer hold the majority opinion...so whether you like it or not, you are gone. You may have plopped down that city hall deed, does not mean you own it. Once you put it down you opened THE city (not YOUR city) to everyone who can become a citizen and if it turns out at somepoint the majority does not want you as Mayor. Then you are gone. As for Claiming all the land around your city as no build zone you just want to extend your control over the land you dont own and might not own...so I cant place a harvester because your city hall is over there unless I come begging on my knees to the all powerful mayor? sheesh. I may be your opinion that sieging is griefing. But believing you own the city (and therefore dont want others in unless they are politically aligned) is a nice communistic view...

Since when is that communism? and no I NEVER eaid I 'own' the city. I was just suggesting a way to prevent the mega PAs from getting around the city limit by killing a city through sieging. (once they have their majority move in, the DESTROY the city hall so they can have their own city elsewhere on the planet)

And why not push someone out of city limits with /cityban? We had, as a group, decided that factional fighting in the city would be prohibited. /citywarn has not only the totally opposite effect desired by this ordinance, it also takes 30 seconds tohave any discrenable affect in the first place.(which for those keeping track is exactly 29 seconds longer than it takes to kill a crafter who happened to have a TEF or *GASP* is overt because he wanted a factional pet to protect him from the aggresive NPCs that keep spawning in and around the city limits)

/cityban merely keeps players out of public buildings... once again, useless.

And to Rant. I dont care if you and EVERY SINGLE other citizen want me out you have NO right to kick me out unless I am griefing in which case you already have a fix for that which does not need to be patched in, its called /report. So there ya go no need to give the mayor and his select 75% of cronies the power to remove my house (making his cronies 76%!) you use the tools available in the game to take away griefers.

and what tools would those be?

When they made the 10 city limit they should have not given the mayors /grantzoningrights at novice.

Oh yea... this would be one of those tools...One you say shouldn'tbe available to novice politicians? Hmm...

Cities are made up of more than a PA, more than a group of friends...it is a collection of people..pack every single person you can into a 150m area, then have politicians run...oh yeah uber PAs would get a few...but the other cities would be vibrant hotbeds of political activity and expansionism where Crafters have price wars and the consumers benefit instead of JoeBuddy Architect friend of the mayor gets the only shop in town. UNTIL you people get over the fact that you DONT OWN the city you will NOT GET the point of them. you will continue to delude yourself that a city hall is an extension of your PA Hall and you will continue to only want more yesmen and guildmates to join your city and it WILL NOT BE OPEN as a city should be. I hope your city burns after you get board with your mission terminal and endless hops 1k to the real city. Ill cruise around on my swoop and pass by your pathetic village no matter how many citizens you have. And NumPaMembers == NumCitizens is Not a city...just a closed off wall of delusion about a game mechanic you think you know but horribly misinterpret.

You got turned down to live in somene's city, didn't you? Our city is not a PA and to be honest until it formed I never even MET 1/3 of my constituants. But, it IS a closed community. Ever hear of that one? We have chosen to be selective in who lives with us. NO we don't own the land, but we do reserve the right to choose who lives around us and in our community.

Id be happy if /grantzoningrights id not apply to houses...what woudl that do to your precious kingdom? dang marxists...

Not much really. if we didn't have zoning, we would merely ask anyone that has built a house to please move to another city if they are a troublemaker and if they refuse and continue to cause problems we use the only thing left to us... whining and complaining on the forums (oh and CSR tickets and /reporting. I'm sure they'll eventually get around to telling us they can't do anything about it.
