Thread: Updated Proposal for Cities and the GCW
well i had no time to read all of the tons of post concerning this, so i hope it sno double post
but before i post my hopefully constructive post, i want to say once again, fix the known city bugs/problems before put GCW on us!!!!!!
ok i don t want to post the following double for each faction so just replace imp for reb and you have the same result ![]()
i dont think the idea of just putting a tag declared city on us will be a benefit for the war so i propose a little different point of view on this. Currently there are already several known "factionioned" cities fighting in the GCW. But most other cities are mixed and stay neutral. Also because the crafters/merchants are an important part of the city fundings no mayor will risk loosing them to go and play war inside its city.
So i suggest not the typical black/white status for city, like you are imps/rebs, you will die.
Status: Imp Stronghold
As knowImp city where rebs are not tolerated
whenever a covert reb enters the city he will be turned overt and the city militia will get a warning and be able to attack him.
City services like shuttle, bank, cloning, trainers, terminals... are only useable by imperial personal
City militia get the bonus of Stronghold per default
the stronghold has to have at least 1 base to uphold it s status
faction defensive buildings like minefields, turrets
faction decorations
buyable strong city guards engaging every rebel entering the city
automatic covert scanner
Status: Loyal Imperial City
a city likemost should be at the current timeline
basicly a city where everone can live and be
city services are open for everyone, but rebs have higher fees for using those
faction decorations
no covert scanners allowed
no defensive buildings allowed
buyable weaker city gards keeping the city clear of critters
like they are now
Status: Loyal Reb City and Reb Stronghold see above at imps
Declaring to a Loyal City to any Faction would be no problem at all. Merchant s still can do their business here, but the oposing faction knows that they are not welcome here.
Actually M, all you would need to do is sort of delegate a certain area of your city to PvP (ie where the bases are) and you can have the best of both worlds. Just so long as everyone is of the same faction or neutral so the minefields and covert scanners and turrets can't accidently spoil someone's fun. Just have the shuttle and cloner focused on the merchant end, and put up some renamed statues to warn people about a war zone.
As for your ideas, I love them. Only thing is I'd like to have a middleground between the two, or just tweak the loyal town version. Basically make it allowable to place bases and such in towns but not required, and possible to ban the opposite faction from your services, but again not forced on the city. This way you can have a bit of the best of both worlds if you choose to, everything can always be reversible (just hire some rebel base smashers) just have to convince the mayor or vote in a new one.

Working on many aspects of proposals for the GCW revamp... mind you this is just a small part of the whole thing I am trying to set in motion.
So quickly, Faction chat would be used for Hey we need help quick type deals.. so spies really would not be much of an issue no matter how many accounts you have. It does not matter if the enemy hears us call for help, it matters we have a central channel to ask for that help.
The bullet listed suggestions a couple posts above.. I like them.
Zones of control are one of the Key priorities for the revamp, for me atleast, lets hope the devs do it. I will not be worrying much about different music for each zone... the laundry list of items I am requesting is so vast I need to keep a focus going and such geez whiz requests I would rather not make infavor of persuing in game purpose and functionality.
On Imperial scans... The crack down was nearly 100% Developer devised, neutrals are being scanned for breaking the law, it has nothing to do with the GCW....
Finally.....
This is the second thread on the issue here, June is when I need to have my full GCW battle plan ready to submit... Those interested in partcipating do me a favor.. review the talk, please take into consideration concerns I might have stated and simply provide me a bulleted list of what politicians want as far as in picking a side and becoming a part of the GCW.
I need a TOP 5 things you want in (related to the GCW only and preferably factional cities.) and then after in bulleted list other suggestions.
I'll then swing back by here grab the list for inclusion in the entire GCW suggestion proposal work up I am trying to compile.
realize more then likely the majority of all suggestions may not end up in game exactly as they are proposed or even at all, we are making a wish list and its up to the devs to pick and choose what they like or to ignore us 100%, but this is our primary means of input for the GCW revamp publish.
