I am of the like mind that the profession shouldn't be skill point free. If someone wants to be a mayor of a city, then they should care enough about it to sacrifice for it. By making it skill point free, then that gives anybody the ability to be a mayor, thus I see our cities going to crap because you're going to have "part time" mayors or people who simply don't care about the cities they run, they're just doing it for fun. I haven't left my city since I became mayor, because the city was trashed. Now it has improved dramatically, but that's only because I loved it (and my guild) enough to get it organized and decorated. I don't regret becoming politician, though it does become a bit tedious, and since I prefer to roleplay anyways, it gives me a chance to interact with other players because of the constant traffic of people who come through checking the place out.

I disagree, especially with the impending Merchant Nerf.

Part-Time Politicos fail every time, their cities do not prosper....

Myself on the other hand LOVE being a Mayor of a VERY successful city, but thats not all that I am. I also fiddle with my droids and have been exploring combat as a (weak) smuggler. It opened up the game to me to be able to dabble like this...

Once Pub 10 hits, I have to give up Politician or Smuggler to be a Merchant again, just to sell my droids. This skill point expenditure is just too much for me anymore. My city may fail because of this fact too. Either that or give up crafting altogether, which is not a choice I want to make either.

I have to choose, combat or crafting now, not both - and it sucks.

Politician has ZERO financial benefit, and does not really enhance me as a player/character. It would not be unbalancing to reduce the skill point cost. Worrying about what part-time Mayors will do is not my problem, my city is my concern.

It merely allows me to do my elected duties, providing content in the game for everyone else to enjoy.

I dont agree that politician skills should be sp free (slightly reduced maybe) because then everyone and thier grandmother would bepolitician and ruin the game for the people who already droped skills and put in the hours and credits toget politician. Politician is a proffession and should be left to the people that r serious enough to invest thier sps into it. If your mayor had the a whole pile of skills that would otherwise be used by politician, he/she probably wouldn't be spending as much time working on the city as he/shewould be spending Questing and PVPing etc......

Please Stop signing this thread and dont bump it cause Pappidont like it and it takes up valuable space for more noteable agruements and disscusions.
