I'm not sure why people wouldn't look around before starting "petitions"...
the devs already agreed that politicians use too many sp. they said it will not be sp free, but they might reduce it in the future. personally I agree on a reduction, but if you don't want to spend the sp, there are plenty of rp possibilities you can create yourself similar to a mayor's role.

I dont agree that politician skills should be sp free (slightly reduced maybe) because then everyone and thier grandmother would bepolitician and ruin the game for the people who already droped skills and put in the hours and credits toget politician. Politician is a proffession and should be left to the people that r serious enough to invest thier sps into it. If your mayor had the a whole pile of skills that would otherwise be used by politician, he/she probably wouldn't be spending as much time working on the city as he/shewould be spending Questing and PVPing etc......
Please Stop signing this thread and dont bump it cause Pappidont like it and it takes up valuable space for more noteable agruements and disscusions.

I think it should cost something to be something as important as a politician. If it was free, then everyone would just do it for the heck of it.

I am of the like mind that the profession shouldn't be skill point free. If someone wants to be a mayor of a city, then they should care enough about it to sacrifice for it. By making it skill point free, then that gives anybody the ability to be a mayor, thus I see our cities going to crap because you're going to have "part time" mayors or people who simply don't care about the cities they run, they're just doing it for fun. I haven't left my city since I became mayor, because the city was trashed. Now it has improved dramatically, but that's only because I loved it (and my guild) enough to get it organized and decorated. I don't regret becoming politician, though it does become a bit tedious, and since I prefer to roleplay anyways, it gives me a chance to interact with other players because of the constant traffic of people who come through checking the place out.

/sign...for the heck of it.
There is really no need whatsoever to keep any politician skill once you have your city how you like it. One can still manage their city while only retaining novice politician.Being mayor is not about placing trainers, mission terminals, and gardens.

i doubt theyd allow us to have free checkers but heres to hope....if they added some poly-other prof specials would make it worthwhile, like poly/merchant gives sales bonus, or poly/smuggler spice/gambling, poly/masterArtisan Crafting bonus so on....

I have a propose "addition"
how about a combination of "free" and "committed"
right now we need 77 points to become master... right now.. it is not worth that much point...
to be partially commited.. lets say you have to invest 30 points for novice and all the trees above that is free... (but still need votes and such to buy the skill)
this will allow more people to be politician.. right now.. there are some (I say this loosely) that there are full time politician... but there are some people I know that would make great politician, but do not have the skill points..
If the initial investment only need 30... then we can open more doors for other politicians... since politician skill mainly benefit the people and not themselves (like other profession)
