i never said any thing about making it an eleet profession...im just trying to point out...how about not complaning that it shouldnt coust no skill points and come up with ideas to improve the current skill boxes...

and your right....most of you want somthing for nothing...everyone wants ther city...and none of you want it to coust anything or have to loose somthing to do it.

I was a master politition for about 30 seconds..

I'm still mayor of the city i have and have been since the city patch was live.....but i droped all the skills except the bottom 2 in each row because there usless for the most part....and just waste skill points.

I used the 4th level of parks the longest to place a few parks in the city and then dropped all the skills...because its a waste of skill points....im a guild leader and im master arch, and master art...and i have been that way for 7 months because my guild needs me to be that wayas there leader....I needed to be self reliant when it comes to the city and houseing and mining....and also as leader i took up master politition...making me totaly usless in any combat...i would get killed buy anything that looked at me funny....but it was a sacrifice i was willing totake for awile......but after a few months im sick of running from a little rat that i should be able to step on...so i started to drop all my politition skills after i placed all buildings the way we wanted them.

Then i looked at the cost of specializations$100,000 a week or more for 5% this or that...what a waste of money and all the level 3 and 4 skills are all a waste of skills...so im droping them all so i can get some carbineer skills...so i can at least take out a bunny instead of running like i little baby......

Now that i think of it i might drop all the skills except for nov Pol....because the city is done.....and i have 45,000 spare exp left...so when the garrages come out ill get the skill back for 10 minutes to build it and then re-drop it again...wat a waste.....

Nov Politition should cost 10 skill points...all the rest should cost 0.....as for the people that vote for them selves one vote to try and get warmaster title good luck HAHAHAHAHAHAH.....100EXP a week.....needed exp for warmaster 19,000 exp ...do the math my friends....it they dont have 30 votes a week or more its going to take them a hell of a long time to get a 4th level skill or even more for master.....

I would bet there are only about 500 people in the whole game that has reached master..in all servers maybe a bit more but i doubt it.....why because only hard core people would waste the points...and all of them most likly where doing it for there guild...

Sorry if my typing is bad its late and im tired

Ths SP level on this profession is horrible. With this profession I cannot enjoy the game. The SP taken from me basically kills any hope of PVP for me. I would like to get out of being mayor, but I have sworn that I would and now I am stuck. If the SP level is reduced or gone that would greatly help everyone. All I ask for is an adjustment.

I should have read more before i posted, but have they added anything for master yet? Can you get dual specs? or are they still broken. Also I am thinking of putting the spec that my town wants and then forgetting all my pol except nov. It will still stay until changed. I just hope that garage comes out soon and is not a master ability. That would suck.

i never quite understood why politician works sp wise like a starting profession when obviously it's not something a newbie can just "go pick up". prehaps they should change the sp requirement to that of the elite professions (6 pts for novice, ..., 1 pt to master) that's slightly less sp than now. not sure how useful that would be, but it might make more people keep politician, instead of picking it up just to be mayor, then dropping it

oww, this one i like, making it cost as much as an elite profession! And replace it in the list among the hybrid/elite professions and not among the starters. We deserve some recognition!

To get back on-topic:

Of all the professions there are so far, ours is probably the most difficult and requires the most effort of the player itself to make it work. Yes, you can be a "plant & grant" politician, but you'll miss out on the fun part of it. Being ceremonial master at a wedding, give the countdown of the town's Swoop races, get votes for what skilltrainers should be placed, re-design town so that all the merchants get a good merchant square and an equal chance, organize a meeting about tax increase, get the city newsletter going (gonna try this myself soon), etc etc. And you know what, all the greatest fun can be had by a 0/0/0/0 novice politican! (except placing the shuttleport under the nose of 30 citizens, which requires fiscal policy II and a level 4 city)

If you put your back into it, being a politican can and will be a fulltime rewarding job. Making you have the rest as a "side-profession". Mostly social and roleplaying yes, and not with badass skill modifiers that make you über. To quote vonbloodworth from page 1 in the same annoying caps: "IT'S NOT ABOUT THE SKILLS!". It's the town your mayoring, make your citizens happy, set the mood. Help them out when they got a question. Just stop looking at skillboxes and start playing simcity with H.I. instead of A.I.

P.S Merchant class is so easy to fix. All they need to do is implement so that if you can't have the amount of vendors you currently have they go *poof*. got thad protocol droid for vendor but no mastery anymore? *poof*. Surrendered that advertizing III skill? byebye, planetary map advertizing. (what are they doing at that merchant forum anyway, it's so simple )

I agree with everythin Ipourbooze says except the atst in my town (reb here). I cannot see dropping the skill point requirement for politician or merchant, but make it an elite skill that requires (any) basic skill at all to attain and drop the number skill points required.

hubah, hubah for Ipourbooze,

Plz listen to him, guys

he has great suggestions

thank you, atleast there is one persion who understands.yeah i lost it...but there have been about 20 of thies things and all they can say is...i need points to master somthing elese cuse this is no fun.../stare

its not about the skills...and the guy who tryed to point out why im wrong up there...come on man...would you be happer if they purt the small stuff in a skill box for you?(mail, spacial chat....LMAO) "sweet god,it dosnt say it in the box here....i guess i cant do it ...its not realy a skill."

/stare

improving should be the focus of all politions...and truly you have to relize that we WILL NOT GET FIXED (anoying caps for thoes that are daft)for a long time...we just got added to the game...deal with it...dont come crying to thies bords about...no skill points...this is the one class that is PLAYER SKILL driven...no itsa not about just placing and walking away...its about events, acting as a leader of a community,RP,marrying off somones doughter.

if you need this acitivitys in a skill box ...then i stand by what i said...you must have the most boring citys ever...

You're referring to me, and you completely missed my point. The point I was trying, and apparently failed, to make was that a novice politician can run a metropolis level city with buildings lining it's radius just as effectively asa master politician. All the skills required to run a town are all player based and not profession based, requireing a will to use the game's powers and a natural charisma or prowess when talking with citizens. Why should I master a profession requiring me to spend 77 skill points when all of the skills are either single use or completely useless? Well I guess lucky forus wedon't need to. After I hit master and get my city looking the way I want it to I'll go back up a bit in medic and scout (keeping urban planner and maybe warmaster for the titles)so I can walk around my city with ease and heal bleeds when the need arises. But isn't that a bad thing? Isn't the fact that master politician gives no reward what-so-ever wrong? And I'm not just talking about the bug that wiped out the skillbox.

Now I'm not saying that a high level politician should be so desired that a novice can't even hope of running but something...anything would be helpful. Give us a billboard that is placeable by a master and onlya master can change the wording on it. There you go, a perk that will help people get information in your city and a means to grab master, or hell even just have it be at fiscal 4. That would give me a reason to keep a skill tree. There is a plethora of other good and interesting ideas that should be easy to implement on this board, as well as a few pie in the sky things but still. As amayor/average playerI improve my city and help people out/talk with them. As a politician I can't really do that any better then a bounty hunter, yet I'm required to spend skill points on this profession. Either make the skills worth the points or make the points worth the skill.

I do not agree with this post, I feel if you want to go into politics, go into politics. If you want to be a master Bounty hunter and master politician, make your choice and stick with it. If you dont want to be one, get your city to appoint someone who wants the job.

Now about skill point requirements for Merchant....If there were no skill point requirement, people could master another artisan or buisness class profession to sell more goods. I am not saying that it would be bad to remove the points, but I think it would mess up the economy in some way. What a good thing would be a good fix for merchants, is being able to set admin permissions on Vendors.Say if your buddy wants to sell something, but does not have enough skill points to get merchant and does not want to sell them in a bazzar, he can get sell stuff on your vendor (if you trust them enough). Or have a specific vendor for your friends to sell items.
